Hi Anne, I think it is called, (without getting into my bookcase):

Saturn: A new look at an old Devil I am pretty sure I have Jeanne Avery's book you recommended as well as her rising signs one...which is good too by the way.

I looked at the chart for your twin's and they are amazing, Moon on their ascendant, wide (western) 29 degrees....which I note are also the degrees of their Sun, an exact sextile, even a yod in there too if you work with the hypothetical ones and Vertex. Mars on Ascendant, from 12 and Saturn on Descendant! Wow. Powerful and you are right, the third is very active, so I bet you get asked a million questions every moment of the day! Of course I am looking at western, not having vedic software.

I wonder if vedic system look at degrees as being significant! Anybody know this and what do they consider significant? Obviously our 29 degrees is more like 5-6 degrees vedic, so in order to have a significant 29 degree of vedic we would have to have a planet at 22/23 western. Well I guess that is my Mercury. Gee will have to think about that!

Dear Morgana,

You mentioned wondering about vedic astrologers using degrees or not - most vedic astrologers I know do consider degrees to be quite important. I always take degrees into consideration and, although not all vedic astrologers look at degrees in varga charts, there are some who do. Parasara's Light and Shri Jyoti Star give degrees in the vargas. Das Goravani's may as well (need to go look), JH 5 does not. Looking at degrees in vargas is controversial - just add that to the list of a trillion and five controversial things. :-) In Jaimini degrees are very important for determining chara karakas - planet significators which change from chart to chart...the planet with highest degree is the Atma Karaka, which is the significator (karaka) for the individual's soul, or the equivalent of the fixed significator of the soul, the Sun. Hmm...I'm lousy at explaining that stuff. And you have me trying to remember what

a yod is...have to go look that up now before going to sleep.

Take care,

Annie

Hi Annie, Thank you for the software info. I will go to find it shortly, but also I want to say thanks for the info on the degrees.

I have a good article, author unknown on the yod and will dig it up right now: Found it, as below then, cheers, Morgana

...................................................

What is Yod?A yod is an aspect configuration. A triangle made of 2 inconjuncts(150 degrees) and a sextile(60 degrees). The yod being an aspect configuration has each planet in the configuration being on the midpoint of the other two. So either system, tradition, or HS would make it a powerful complex of planets.A=B/C, B=A/C, and C=A/B you see what I mean? The same thing happens with a Grand Trine, T-Square, etc.Books have been written on the Yod. aka, Finger of God, or Finger of Fate. The Yod, It's Esoteric Meaning by Joan Kellog The Yod Book, including a discussion of unaspected planets by Karen Hamaker-Zondag. There is a chapter on it in Dynamics of Aspect Analysis by Bil Tierney.I saved this from somewhere too...sometimes referred to as the Finger of God in view of its reputation of eventually bringing out a highly spiritual understanding in the person as they learn to combat

the stressful stalemate situations that the Yod produces by recognition of the Yod pointing the way that one ought to taking in one's life to alleviate stress The boomerang point would be in the midpoint of the Su/Moon sextile, with about 2° orbis. and the opposite point the finger of God. For the babies their vtx and kronus, representing authority figures, which I assume will be an ongoing challenge for them. A perfect trine has all in the midpoint of the other two. It is considered one of the strongest (causal) planetary pictures because of that symmetry, not because of the trine relationship.

Hi Morgana,

Thank you for your interpretation :-)Yes I have also noticed their

strong willed and charismatic little personalities. They are quite

something and also very eye catching and outgoing little 'devils',

but cute and charming the hell out of everybody with their moon in

scorpio in 1. They are noticed by so many strangers!!! There are

quite a lot of twins in my town, but a lot of people, who I never

spoke to come to me (even when I am without the twins) and they say:

O you are the mommy of the cute little boy twins... So maybe they

will turn into celebrities, talkshowhosts, who knows ;-) Or maybe

become unfamous villans, with their mars in 12.... I am curious

about the vedic interpretations and nodes. So I will study some more.

Hi Morgana,

Thanks so much! I think I have that book of Tierney's somewhere - now I will know what to look for later when I am rummaging through my books. Never got around to it last night (too late) and so it really helps that you sent the info! I never did much with western astrology, but I've always loved the books as I like the western approach to the planets and I think exact degrees are incredibly useful (also have always used Placidus). Am becoming increasingly interested in western recently and so this group is a wonderful learning tool for seeing both approaches.

Best wishes,

Hi Morgana,What is the title of Liz Greenes book about saturn you mentioned? And pluto is in sagittarius right now. Yes pluto gives more dramatically impacts on people's life. So I have noticed when it passed my sun. And yes about the twins: pluto creeped over my moon when I got pregnant and gave birth to them: it dramatically changed my work: yes because my moon is placed in my sixt house in western astrology. In Jyotish my moon is in the 8th house, so I have to figure out what that means too. I will defeinitely need to do a course as soon as I have moved house. Can you recommend any good specific books about pluto? I have only read about Pluto in the general books about planets and astrology from Stephen Forrest and Stephen Arroyo.Anne , morgana <aquatiger1950>

wrote:> Hi Anne, I am referring to the western idea of Saturn when I speak about it, or refer to Liz Greene's book, but the Planet that really causes dramatic shifts for me (mostly horrid, but always good I guess to be transformed) is Pluto. Jyotish does not recognize the outers, but I would always have to include them. They all impact me in a huge way I have noticed, so I am happy that saturn has been so nice to me. My natal Saturn is part of a huge natal configuration in my chart too...but it is in mutual reception with Mercury adding to its flavour, cheers, Morgana> > (I am doing up the charts of the twins-a fascinating contemplation for me the moment I get a moment, thanks for their data, and might I add, NO WONDER you are experiencing burnout!
