Dear Cat & All:

I have one very interesting story to share with you all.

I have a 'housemate' who has fibromyalgia. And she has Saturn in the first House.

And though I've known a lot of people who have Saturn in their first Houses, but don't, in her case there are other Astrological configurations which seemed to have contributed to this challenge.

She's got also an Exalted Sun in Aries, and a very strong and dominant Mars aspecting both her Moon and Sun which all together expresses some one that just loves to go, go, go!

As I watch her, her fibromyalgia flares up the most when she's in this go, go, go, mode and not giving herself and especially her 'body', the natural rest that it needs.

As far as Saturn's transits, that Cat enquired about and feeling more and more tired, understand that Saturn's nature is is very strongly wrapped up in the knowledge of balance. If you don't get enough rest, then fatigue and stress start to build up in the Physiology. Eventually all sorts of dis-eases....pop up, and if we don't get enough rest, then, ..... then, diseases result.

And then, if we can't rest still, death results. I like to call Saturn the planet of the 3 D's....

Dis-ease, disease and death.

I had a dear friend who had Saturn in her 5th House of children and she had much grief and had to work very hard to take care of children especially since the husband/spouse aspect to her chart was not very positive.

She asked me one time, if I would again try and help her with her challenges. I said, 'Caroline', I've told you a hundred times. She said: " Oh, please I promise to do whatever you say. " " Ok, I said, you've got Saturn in the 5th House, (I do a lot of Eastern Astrology, so I then said,) your Saturn means you have Saturn grief here. Saturn gets deposited in our charts, in our lives, where we need to bring more rest and balance. Your Saturn also aspects your 7th House of marriage. (that's the Eastern aspect) so you're separated from Husbands. And you were born on a New Moon, so emotional issues are important in your chart.

Well, she nodded her head in agreement as we've gone over this before. I continued: " Your main challenge is your'e having to do too much. You're running a household, running a full-time business and you're trying to go to school. It's way too much and your Saturn is trying to tell you to do less. " " But, I can't, I feel like I have to do all these things. " I said: " You may feel that way but the reality is if you don't learn to listen to your body, and mind and what they need, then dis-ease hear can turn into disease. "

" So, what should I do. " I was really hoping she would listen so I said: " Ok, .... you need to find some way of diminishing the stress of everything. You have to pull back from some area. Maybe you could find a place for the kids for a few weeks, ...(they were 10 and 16 at the time, so it didn't sound too outrageous).... But she said: " I can't do that....I could never do that to them. "

Well, then I said something that I'd never said before and haven't had to say since. " If you don't take care of yourself, you may not be around enough to take care of them..... "

I couldn't believe I said this, but this was just an intuition that came over me. I had been trying to help her for several years. She just shrugged her shoulders.

Well, to my and all of our friends great sadness, within 12 months she found out that she had cancer, and then, passed away, leaving her sweet kids.

Sorry, if this story is too sad, it's not meant to be because Saturn's just 'Nature' trying to tell us how we're doing with balance!

Unfortunately, we live in a world, in a country that rarely appreciates rest and balance. I remember when I was teaching meditation and health, stress education in business a number of years ago, middle 70's....and we were describing all the wonderful benefits of meditation and relieving stress in the work place...

and one of the business managers stopped us and said: " But, we want our employees to be under stress! They'll get more done that way and be more productive! " I was shocked. We tried to explain that what we meant by stress was that which inhibits productivity, health, and even such things as absenteeism.

Well, they couldn't hear it, at the time, but it was very gratifying about 10 years later when we were in another business situation and announced that we had a powerful stress reduction program, we had no sooner mentioned those words, and the arms went up and the man said: " Ahhh! stress reduction, great, come on in....we're always looking for ways to reduce stress and improve health..... "

I was shocked.... what a huge mindset that had changed within the last 20 years.

Unfortunately, the work demands, the pace of life is still so fast and demanding, that we're all pushing ourselves way beyond our present, capacities.

Saturn is the planet that tells us if we're pushing too hard!

Listen to your Saturn. If you are experienceing any of the malefic signs of Saturn; tiredness, stress, anxieties, worry, sadness, or physical pain, these are all the signs of Saturn. This in fact is why Saturn has developed the terrible reputation it has. In fact, Saturn is often called the Planet of Grief; but we could just as easily call it the Planet of 'Rest'!

Because when we notice fatigue or stress or aches and pains....if we immediately, rest, get into the tub, do some yoga asanas, more sleep, meditate....a number of things will help....we'll notice we do feel better....

And depending upon the severity of 'imbalance' that has built up, the degree of Saturn, healing, rejunvenative procedures....need to be followed.

How will we know that we've rested enough? Energy, joy, clarity of mind, even bliss!...come back!

Sorry, if this was too long. I was just inspired by these important discussions about stress, fatigue and disease.

take care
