This is because Mercury represents boundries and focus of attention on specific and detailed qualities, whereas Pisces represents just the opposite; no boundries, freedom and transcendence.

Mercury has a hard time in Pisces for just this reason. If you find yourself feeling your 'heads', in the clouds, quality, take a deep breath and focus....

I just wanted to let you know an experience I've been having that might be a positive approach to this, which is that I have been intellectually aware of having " no boundaries, freedom and transcendence " ! I spent a couple of hours this morning consciously exploring this, going back and forth between transcendence and intellect, with the intellect observing and taking in data but not taking charge, if that makes any sense. In keeping with your analysis, one observation I made is that the intellect makes the mistake of trying to do the work of awareness. It tries to THINK us through life, rather than our being AWARE of life, at least it does/did in my case. I think we all mistake a thought for reality, think that our intellectual analysis is Truth. The lesson during Merc in Pisces might be to give the intellect and our intellectual " hold " on life a break?

I know what you mean. For me, having Moon in Virgo.... in my early years I found myself wanting to try and 'understand' life through the intellect. And it took me awhile to realize intellectual clarity and more primal experience....or awareness of reality ...were two separate things.

Now, I experience,...no conflict between intellect and being...

Also, I realize the the Moon or 'feelings' part of us is even more important then the budha, intellectual part...

Jyotish has helped me substantially, because it's so aware of the importance of each part of us, and how balance and enlivenment needs to go on regarding...all....

The primary experience I have re. Mercury's confusion and why it's called being debilitated... is because intellect..or Mercury.....in Pisces....confuses.... it's role of focus...with the self's role in transcendence..

Once intellect realizes it's job is to focus...and help my providing a integrative effect through focusing or dieing the cloth.... then the intellect can be happy....
