Guest guest
Respected Sirs, In traditional astrology, let us recall, one way of measuring strenght of a planet is by its position. It is described IN THE NAME OF TEN AVASTHAS- VIZ., Deepta,Swastha etc.., Vikala is one of them which deal with combustion of a planet when it is nearer to Sun by certain orb.- that is as follws : Moon in 12 deg, Jupiter in 11 deg. Mars in 17 deg. Venus in 9 deg. Mercury in 13 deg. Saturn in 15 deg. -from sun. Mercury alone is good in combustion with Sun. It is described as Budyaditya yoga - a good one - Still bad side of this yoga is observed as "forgetfulness" when Mercury is in rapt conjunction with Sun - say one degree or so. Yet, some authors do quote their experience of good results in the Main dasa of planets which are in combustion with Sun - this is to be seen on the merits of each chart. Some writers, still, say nearness of 3 deg to Sun is a real combustion.. Comming to our question Moon combustion (in 12 deg)- is the day of Amavasya - there are special readings and suggestion to rectify the doshas for births on the day of Amavasya.Read Brihat Parasara Hora. This all traditional. In Westren astrology on the day of Amavsya - both Sun and moon are considered powerful. In Turf astrology (race courses ) as per westrn rules you get surprise results in winning horses. KP followers have to go as per KP rules. I wanted to recall something to improve the range of study for the benefit of beginners.. Hope it will do good. rao chitturu Astrologer Teaching & Counselling.--- On Sat, 13/9/08, Luther Rath <rathluther wrote: Luther Rath <rathlutherRe: Combustion of Moon- wanning / amavasya Date: Saturday, 13 September, 2008, 8:51 AM Respected Sirs, What I understand by "combustion' of a planet is as follows. 1. A planet has to be in conjunction with the Sun. 2.The planet should be in between the Sun and the Earth. Only the Moon, the Venus and the Mercury occupy such position. That means the lighted side of the planets face away from Earth and the dark side remains towards us.. So they are weakest at this transit point. They are all equivalant to an 'Amavasya'. 3.They are not expected to be harmful rather innert. So when they happen to be significators of 6 or 8 or 12 they do not give result of these houses or if at all they do the effect will be minimum. With regards. Kindly peruse it...also, could you illustrate how the "avastha" of a planet influences it's role in giving results..or does it at all influence the results ?
