A QUESTION ABOUT CORRECT LAGNA

Hi Friends.

I am presenting here a conundrum, which has been bothering me for a

long while since the day I was introduced to KP.

I was born in Bombay on the night of 3rd December 1946. My mother

(now late) used to recall the time as around 2.00 am after midnight.

The basic horoscope calculations (We call it thalakkuri in Kerala.)

were done by a local astrologer of Palghat where we belong

ancestrally and it mentions the birth time in ghatis and vighatis

after sunset.

I am sure a local astrologer of Palghat in those days could not have

taken the Bombay sunset time into consideration. Assuming,

therefore, that he had taken the Palghat sunset time into account, I

converted the ghatis and vighatis into hours and minutes and fixed my

birth time at 48 minutes after midnight (i.e. 4th December 1946 as

per Western reckoning) and erected my horoscope for Bombay latitude

and standard time.

That places me in Simha lagna. Moon in Uttara Bhadrapada (Utrattati)

star of Saturn in Meena. The Palghat astrologer had also got the

same lagna (different degree of course) and star but the balance at

birth was different.

The contradiction between my mother's statements, which would place

me deep in Kanni lagna, and the horo I arrived at always used to

bother me. I tried the RPs several times and many a time I found

that Budha was getting a prominent place. Surya figured much less.

The question being personal, I thought I couldn't be objective enough

to clinch the issue. That left me utterly confused.

Recently, I visited a naadi astrologer at Vaitheeswaran Koil in Tamil

Nadu. After the preliminary questions whereby he zeroed in on the so-

called horo of my birth, he mentioned the names of my father, mother

and wife correctly. He also mentioned something very striking about

my first daughter. He then said that I was born in Kanni lagna.

That was a big surprise. There are, of course, many questionable

things about the methods employed by naadi astrologers that don't

appeal to rational minds. But, the way the names of my parents/wife

were mentioned without any mistake (The astrologer couldn't have

guessed those names correctly from the cues given by me by way of

answers to several of his questions like the first and last letters

of father's name etc.), made me feel that there was perhaps some

truth in what he was saying about my lagna. Yet, I am in two minds

even now whether or not to accept his conclusion. Even if I accept

it, where would it place my lagna exactly? I asked him for the lagna

navamsa hoping that I could be more exact. But, alas, they don't use

navamsas in their predictons.

Can you friends kindly tell me what is my correct horo? I give you

number 155 (which I just saw on a carton placed right in front of me).

Dear NairIt depends on what Panchang your Palghat astro is using. The Sunrise given in various Panchaga is based on the place the panchang maker used. Try KP Horary.raichur anant mumbai--- On Mon, 8/11/08, Madathil Rajendran Nair <madathilnair wrote:Madathil Rajendran Nair <madathilnair A QUESTION ABOUT CORRECT LAGNA Date: Monday, August 11, 2008, 2:42 PM

Namaste Shri Raichur-ji.

Whether or not he used Bombay sunset time, my main worry is this:

Am I Simha Lagna (as per the Palghat astrologer and my own later

calculations) or Kanni (as per my mother's recollection of the time

of birth and as per the naadi astrologer?

As I said I tried KP horary. But, the matter being personal, I found

that I lacked the objectivity needed to do a good analysis. Hence,

the request for help. Besides, I found Mercury getting importance.

(Even at this moment of writing this, the RPs are: Asc: Merc./Mars,

Moon: Jup/Ketu, Day: Mars)! Sun is no where in the picture!

Besides, my current horo with Simha lagna does not seem to support

the events I have listed in my mail.

Grateful if you can kindly help with the number I provided (155) and

pin-point the lagna so that I can lay my nagging doubts to rest.

MY PROBLEM IS NOT THE RPs. IT IS OBJECTIVITY.

Best regards.
