Foreign travel/residence = uprooting? Can marriage do that?

Lots of discussions going on in different fora on indicators for foreign travel

and moves from birthplace and so on.

The obvious question arises.

At least in India, over the last several decades and perhaps going even farther

back, temporally - it is safe to assume that more women than men got uprooted

and had to move away from home and far and wide (including abroad! After

marriage!!).

I wonder if the 7th house and other marital indicators, upapada, venus, jupiter,

whatever ... are somehow more significant indicators of uprooting and moves in

female horoscopy as from times ancient was thought to be a special chapter or

many even in ancient scriptures.

Or is it just a social or societal phenomena/anomaly/idiosyncracy in the

experience of certain female subpopulations and not an astrological phenomenon

or astro-driven reality!

Anyone has looked into this?

Dear Rohiniranjan,

being fourth from fourth, seventh house does signify ' new home' , settlement

abroad, it's strenght indicates it's quality, of course.

HI R

I haven't researched this, but I do get a lot of women from Asia coming for

readings,. and have noted that the second and twelfth house have strong emphasis

in a chart.

This generally translates as the woman gets work over here and has to send it to

the overseas family, whether her family or her husbands. This factor can also

occur in charts of English women who marry foreign men.

best wishes

Dear All,

When foreign lands enticed us in 60s/70s, the dreaded trik house, shot into

prominence. Going abroad, which was considered a 'patan' (fall), became an

‘uththan’ (rise) and 12H, the most sought after house in the chart. 12H

being the sukh (or dukh) of bhagya (4H from 9H, the ultimate sukh of 9H

being in moksha), it is bhagya which takes one abroad, and the cost of

lagna, no one minds!

A female marrying a person living abroad, is a reality and like all

realities surely astro-driven. 4 and 12 are the prime ‘movers’ of lagna, but

the route may be through the house of education, career, marriage and

children whatever the case may be in the chart. I was involved with a study

sometime back which tried to explore ‘what takes one abroad’. For a female

nativity, 7-12 connection indicates foreignness in marriage but it happens

only if 4H is afflicted and 4H/L is linked with 12H/L, and she gets the

appropriate dasha. This should be confirmed from moon, D-9 and D-4. 3H

decides when one would leave home. Rahu plays an important role but it

should have a benefic aspect otherwise it can behave weirdly.

Jupiter is doubly important, as karaka of marriage in females, dhan karaka

and as lord of bhagya and its happiness (9/12), in natural zodiac. For sagi

lagna, if jup is in 12H and 4H is suitably afflicted, one settles abroad

with self efforts, and in virgo lagna, if jup is in 12H, and 4H is

afflicted, marriage will take him abroad, for pisces lagna, similarly,

career can take him abroad. Jup for libra and aries, as 3/12 and 9/12 lord

in char lagnas is responsible for the change and if it connects with 7H/L,

can take the native abroad after marriage.

Similarly venus, upapada, darakarak, etc would be suitably engaged to play

their role. Practical examples would serve a better purpose than theoretical

concepts. How and when these forces operate and uproot the native makes an

interesting study.

Dear All,

If the interest is only to know whether a person will travel abroad and live

there, irrespective of the reason for which the travel takes place, it

sufficient to look at just two houses in a chart:

- Long-distance travel - house 9 - Karaka Jupiter

- Stay abroad - house 12 - Karaka Saturn

When the related planets/houses get activated, the incident takes place. Of

course, it is necessary to note whether such planets are sufficiently strong or

afflicted in a particular chart.

Dear Neelam and Marg,

Your postings are truly appreciated and the richness in your sharing, I am sure

will help a lot of members, beginners, other levels, astro-philosphers and so

on. There is much to ponder upon in your pithy messages. Thank you!

I realize that I was posting on the 'travel abroad' thread and somewhat

digressing into the higher frequency of movements away from parental homes!

Undoubtedly, particularly in India, perhaps even today, more women tend to move

away from home and city and province to other places, often distant and

sometimes even abroad as a consequence of marriage.

I realize that there are instances of " ghar jamai-s " and something I was once

told quite normal in some communities but generally kind of looked down upon!

Again -- sociological reality and not my personal judgment!

The female (Indian?) nativity seems to have this high frequency of marriage

being associated with a MOVE away from ancestral home.

I find that intriguing from an astrological perspective! Is it the sociological

influence associated with the gender or the astrological combinations?

Thanks for the appreciation.

Interesting question, so I just checked two old charts of mine. One only a moon

chart due to no time of birth, where with Cancer moon L12 is in fifth with

L2....oh and Rahu in twelfth house! He married an English woman, came to live

over here, and sends most of his money home to his family.

The second one came here for uni ed, met and married an English girl and stayed

here, but send home his money to his family. he has Cap asc with L2 Sat

aspecting L12 Ju, Sat is with Rahu in third, Ju in ninth.

best wishes
