Guest guest
To All: By jyotish definition, Jupiter is neecha in Makara. Thus, we see the slowdown in the economy of the USA, and in the world. However, we notice that the USA has committed trillions of dollars (the most ever since the Great Depression) in funds to combat the weak economy. In effect, this commitment is equivalent to a war against the worlwide recession. So, inspite of the apparent debilitation of Jupiter, the future looks bright when Jupiter enters the rashi of Kumbha, which should occur this coming December 2009. Guest guest
Hi John Do you think Saturn in Leo also lends a hand to the downturn in wealth? Also as Sun is about to go into exaltation, do you think this might mean gold goes up in price, and should we all go sell our rings and bracelets to make the most of it? best wishes M - John Monday, March 23, 2009 7:40 AM Paradox of Jupiter's Neecha Status in Makara To All: By jyotish definition, Jupiter is neecha in Makara. Guest guest
Namaste Marg, The transit of Saturn in Leo (signifying royalty or governments) has created some havoc for some governments. In particular, the Bush administration (Republicans) was voted out of office in the USA. Also, the government of Iceland went bankrupt due to the world financial crisis. Based on the recent behaviour of the USA stock market, it appears that it's ready to move up again. So, the transit of Surya in Mesha (the 5th house in the USA natal chart) should be fairly good for the USA stocks. However, the optimism may not be sustained since Surya only retains its exalted status for one month in Aries. IMHO, gold price may go down since the transit would create an oversupply of gold in the market. In general, the governments of the world, including the USA, are taking the appropriate steps to combat the effects of the global recession. In macro economics, it is advisable for governments to initiate the expenditures through work projects, including the bail out of banks, to spark the confidence of the people and the economy. Due to the effects of Jupiter's debilitation, the people of the world are still stunned and wary of the economic future of their own financial institutions. Given time, the future looks promising after Jupiter exits out of Makara. Regards, JR , " Marg " <margie9 wrote: > > Hi John > Do you think Saturn in Leo also lends a hand to the downturn in wealth? Guest guest
Hi John Thanks for the expanded version, really interesting. BAVA(British Vedic group) are delivering seminars on financial astrology next month, sounds good actually. I seem to be getting a lot of business people wanting readings, and of course it would be good to be able to know more about the financial side of things to pass on to them. best wishes M - John Monday, March 23, 2009 7:54 PM Re: Paradox of Jupiter's Neecha Status in Makara Namaste Marg, The transit of Saturn in Leo (signifying royalty or governments) has created some havoc for some governments. Guest guest
Dear John, Jupiter goes neecha every 12 years or so. Why is this time so special? When Jupiter (sidereal of course!) approached its point of maximum debility -- the world witnessed a MAJOR PARADIGM SHIFT! Guest guest
Dear John, RRji, Marg and all, Jupiter is not the lone crusader of the changing scenario, otherwise the same situation would emerge every twelfth year, as RR ji also says. The stage was set in the beginning of the year when Jupiter joined Rahu in Makar, and mars followed. The jup-mar-rah in with two eclipses in Makar has triggered this situation. Rashi lord Saturn in leo in 8th from makar also indicating the change. *I am glad to share one of my messages posted on another list in mid-December.* 1747 was the year when Ra-Ju-Ma conjunction last happened in capricorn, some 250 years ago. A landmark year in the history, as it gave rise to a new world order when Nadir Shah was assassinated and Afghanistan liberated itself from the Mughal empire and with its very strategic location paved the way to a lot of happenings in the period that followed. In 1747, Jupiter Rahu conjunction only had a close brush of 3-4 days with mars in Capricorn. While Rahu and Jupiter entered Capricorn from opposite sides, mars was preparing to leave. We also saw British rule establish in India in 1747 when after real invasion through sea route in Cuddapore, the Bristish were able to loosen the strong hold of French in Podicherry and later in the year, the whole of company forces arrived in India to take charge, and we witnessed their (as a result our) transformation… from a Trading company to a Ruling company. By now everyone knew how to conquer India. With the weak native forces and more disciplined invaders, India became an easy catch with their divide and rule policy. It was again the conjunction of Rahu-Jup-mars in 1857, but this time in pisces (jup is better equipped), which started the mutiny to bring a new order. However, now in 2009, with the long-stay-triple-whammy in Capricorn, sandwiched between the 2008-09 eclipses, with Saturn in 8H from it, does have story to tell. A new world order is sure in sight and we already have the first ever ‘Black’ Obama assume the office of the US President on January 20, 2009. What about India? We are still as vulnerable, as we were. We have not learnt our lessons. The separatist forces still find us an easy prey. How do we see this conjunction for India now? The solar eclipse of 26th January 2009 will be at mid 12-13 degrees of Capricorn. Thus highlighting the rashi, and conjunction even more. A laser beam pointer wants us to read the writing on the wall. India is running Venus MD, who is the lord of disputes in 3H, which more or less signifies hidden enemies of neighbourly types. Ketu antar signifies outcast and placed in the seventh house of war and foreign affairs is not good and has proved so many a times. Coming to the transits, Rahu and mars will have the decision-making power as ketu the antar lord is in scorpio, martian sign and aspects Rahu in lagna. Mars is exalted and digbali in Capricorn and as 7L and 12L in 9H, it can start a process whereby we have a soft invasion with a spate of foreign policies and treaties to fight our internal communal weaknesses and terrorism. We have forgotten to solve our problems ourselves. It is ironical that we see a foreign hand in creating problems for us and we seek foreign hand in solving our problems!! With a weak Jupiter (karak for national wisdom) in 9H, it is bound to get overpowered by the mighty 7/12 forces and India with its weak governance (12H from 10th) will get overpowered by foreign forces which will have long term implications in changing the state of the nation. What about the US-nuclear thrust? Since we are in a rashi ant and waiting for a new dawn with Sun’s dasha, and not to miss the Leo saturn, I am hopeful that this new order would prove good for masses and we might see an emergence of a leader from the opposite side who can become the ‘KING OF MASSES’ (4H and sun). Hope this will be useful. Regards Neelam
Guest guest
Namaste Rohini Ranjan, This particular cycle of Jupiter is unique in that it coincided with a sensitive dasha in the USA natal chart. Using the Dhanus lagna for the USA chart, it recently change into the mahadasha of Mars, which is the lord of the 5th and the 12th houses. Since Mars is located in the 7th house, we have a bhadaka situation for the planet. Ordinarily, the period should have given positive results in the 5th house. However, due to the bhadaka situation, the negative aspect (the 12th house) of Mars came into fruition. Thus, we have witnessed the trillions of dollars lost from home loans and their derivatives, and the meltdown of stock prices in Wall Street. Since the USA economy is considered to be the strongest in the world, its financial meltdown similarly affected the economies of the world. In my opinion, this financial crisis is due to the cumulative effect of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush and his advisors made such a ghastly mistake in making a decision to invade Iraq. By doing so, the economy of the USA was focused on supporting the military-industrial complex. The economy failed to sustain the welfare of its citizens, in particular the housing market, domestic jobs, and consumer goods. Thus, the American economy collapsed for all intent and purposes due to the burden of the expenditures for the wars in the Middle East. There is more to this discussion. But I'll stop here for brevity. Regards, JR Actually, we should give the American voters credit for electing a Democratic ticket to run the country. If the Republicans had stayed in the White House, the USA would been involved in a war with another country, most likely Iran. , " Rohiniranjan " <jyotish_vani wrote: > > Dear John, > > Jupiter goes neecha every 12 years or so. Guest guest
Hi Neelam, John and everyone Very interesting to read the analysis below I do think that Saturn in Leo is a factor not to be overlooked as you say. Ruling Makara and dispositing Jupiter, it does limit further the expansion and prosperity Jupiter would normally bring if it wasn't so restricted. I also see Saturn in Leo as one factor involved in the market crashes, as Leo is the sign of stocks shares, and gambling and gold store and saving reserves? Saturn was in Leo during the early 1920's when money was also in short supply and caused the huge recession everyone is currently trying to avoid. Jupiter was exalted around the start of the recession, but not powerful enough to offset the repression of Saturn in Leo. I like the image of Saturn in Leo being the government taking over the control of the banks also. I think more banks than Iceland have brought their countries to their knees. Venus must play a part too do you think? The recession was announced as the deepest yet around the beginning of the year when Sun, Jupiter and Saturn were in exchange also, and this was the time when our bankers in Europe were being reviled, scourged and sacked. The US has announced trillions are to be pumped into the economy to stop it from failing, all this while Sun-government conjoins Venus exalted in final sign of the zodiac--endings---trying to avoid dissolution of the world economy. For the UK chart and nations generally, using Aries asc, Saturn aspects Taurus, the natural sign of the combined wealth of a nation, and gives a restraining influence, while Jupiter's aspect on Taurus shows losses, but also some providential aid in the form of governments using unorthodox (Rahu with Jupiter) methods to try and pump up the economy? I agree with the idea of a whole new world order coming into play with power shifts which have been deliberately engineered, but by who? In August this year the sun will join Saturn in Leo, an asset freeze effect do you think? Like to hear others views on this best wishes M - " neelam gupta " <neelamgupta07 Tuesday, March 24, 2009 6:00 AM Re: Re: Paradox of Jupiter's Neecha Status in Makara Dear John, RRji, Marg and all, Jupiter is not the lone crusader of the changing scenario, otherwise the same situation would emerge every twelfth year, as RR ji also says. Guest guest
Namaste Neelam, Your analysis is very thorough. You've done good research which needed to prove astrological principles. As far as the USA getting involve in the affairs of India, I don't think the Obama Administration is intending to spend any more time and expenditures in foreign affairs or wars. The American electorate has spoken and elected President Obama to end the war in Iraq and concentrate on the affairs more beneficial to the citizens of the USA. At this time, the USA deficit and national debt have been at the highest level (in trillions of dollars!) since the inception of the American constitution. The country is in a very precarious situation and could very well collapse if the present situation is not corrected. All of this trouble were caused by President Bush and his advisors. By the way, Bush has a form of Kala Sarpa Yoga in his chart. So, guess what? He dragged the US and the world into the mess we are in now. Guest guest
I agree that neither Jupiter in Capricorn , and neither Saturn in Leo, can be attributed to the events mentioned . What about the 27 nakshatras used in Indian astrology ? Do not they bear any significance, or just all the effects world over have to be gauged by Planets in Zodiac signs ? Astrology cannot be so simple. The most authentic reference of Mundane astrology being governed by Stars , can be found in our earliest texts (Bhishma Parva in Mahabharata)which knowledge has not yet been made use of by the present day astrologers. Instead all speculations are post martem results which bear no confirmity of a similiar event taking place in future on a particular date, which none of them can predict. With regards to USA, who knows the exact time of signing of the Declaration of Independence ? Apart from the common consensus that 4th July 1776 is the Independence day , there are 3 Gemini ascendants available ( With nobody to authenticate the correct one) 8.47 degrees, 7.35 degrees, and 20.11 degrees. There is one more opinion which says that 13.32 degrees of Libra is the correct Ascendant . Different degrees do mean something, and not just Gemini or Libra ascendant . Because different degrees will carry different constellation owners which change the whole characteristics of the nativity or the Mundane chart and may overlap the qualities of the Ascendant or transform them. So there is more to it, rather than Saturn in Leo, or Jupiter in Capricorn or just these 2 Transits. If at all somebody is using just these 2 Planets, prominently then he must not forget to use Herschel too. regards/Bhaskar. , neelam gupta <neelamgupta07 wrote: > > Dear John, RRji, Marg and all, > > Jupiter is not the lone crusader of the changing scenario, otherwise the > same situation would emerge every twelfth year, as RR ji also says. Guest guest
Thought financial wizards might enjoy this analysis of the markets using tropical astrology, it's taken from Ray Merriman who publishes a book on the subject every year Review and Preview The " Sagittarius Factor " of last Monday through Wednesday corresponded with huge price swings in many financial and commodity markets, most notably Treasuries, currencies, and precious metals. Gold, for instance, was trading at 882 on Wednesday, its lowest level since January. By early Friday, it was up to 967.80, an appreciation of 10% in less than 48 hours. Silver's move was even more spectacular, as it fell to 1189 the same day, also its lowest level since January. At the close of trading on Friday, it was up to 1384, a gain of 16.4%. But if you are a currency trader, you had to be stunned by the surge in the Euro currency and Swiss Franc against the U.S. Dollar. Since its low of 1.2455 on March 4, the Euro currency soared to 1.3737 on March 19 (last Thursday). The Swiss Franc surged from a low of .8356 against the U.S. Dollar on March 12 to a high of .8980 just one week later. These are huge movements for currencies. Similar moves were noted in the longer-term Treasuries and Notes. Grains and Crude Oil also enjoyed healthy price increases last week, with Crude trading above 52.00 for the first time since November. This fits with last week's report, which stated, " For this coming week, the most notable celestial event we take interest in is the " Sagittarius Factor " of Monday-Wednesday. It oftentimes coincides with very sharp price movements - and reversals - in many financial markets, but especially in precious metals, currencies, and Treasuries. " Yet the amplitude of these moves was even more impressive than expected, for reasons discussed below. Equity markets were not quite as exciting. The rallies which started from the lows of March 6-10 (as Venus turned retrograde) continued into last week. After rising 10-20% in that brief amount of time, many of these indices started pulling back as the week wore on. In the case of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, for example, the low of March 6 at 6470 stalled out last Wednesday, March 18, at 7571. That represents an impressive gain of 1100 points and 17% in just 8 trading days. But by Friday, it had given back 300 of those points. We now wait for next week to see if this will be just a " normal " corrective decline in a new bull market, or the resumption of the bear market. Short-Term Geocosmics We are out of the dream-like, surreal, period of Pisces. It's officially springtime now. As discussed a few weeks ago, this new season may come in with a bang. After all, the first non-lunar aspect made as we begin spring will be the Sun square Pluto on Monday, March 23. This will also end the " translation " of the Sun to the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto developing T-square, which was in force March 8-23. Once again, this translation wasn't as bad for stocks as was the case in 2008. In fact, equities have been mostly higher during this period. The question is: will they continue to rally? Or will they reverse sharply down now that the " translation " is ending? The answer may be influenced by Venus retrograde, which is also in effect now. In fact, it lasts much longer, since it started March 6 and doesn't end until April 17. It is not unusual to see a market making a multi-month high or low nearby to Venus turning retrograde, and then reverse in the opposite direction until the time its motion returns direct. If the Venus retrograde is more powerful than the Sun's translation to the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto T-square, then the market should continue its rally for a few more weeks before taking out the low of March 6-10. If not, we may see the bear market resuming. With Pluto in the picture as the spring equinox begins, the focus is once again on debt, for Pluto rules debt, death, and taxes. The aspects that are present at the time of seasonal change tend to describe themes that are most highlighted for the whole of that season. This week is not only the start of the new season, but also a new moon, which will form the same square to Pluto. Spring is supposed to be the season of romance and love, and bright new hopes for the future. But with Pluto so prominent, it may be more like " tough love. " Such a geocosmic set up can be prone to serious power plays in which there is little mercy for the weak. This is not a time when the " weak shall inherit the earth. " What they inherit may be more debt, and more demands to pay up (like the AIG executives who received those bonuses). They are more prone to be forced into foreclosure or bankruptcy, and sudden changes of life style they didn't plan for. Longer-Term Thoughts The Venus retrograde effect was in full force last week. Not only did the stock market continue its rise from March 6, but the Central Banks did indeed announce new policies that had a direct impact on all interest-rate related markets (i.e. Treasuries and currencies). This is what generally happens during Venus retrograde - central banks make new policies or change old ones, and markets react with great volatility and large price swings. One week ago, the Swiss Central Bank lowered its key interest rate, and the Swiss Franc feel to a new three-month low against the U.S. Dollar (the Euro currency did not, for a case of intermarket bullish divergence). Then this past Wednesday, March 18, the U.S. Federal Reserve announced a plan to purchase $300 Billion in Treasuries, which forced the long-term bond rate to levels not seen in decades. The 10-year Treasury Notes dropped form 3+% to 2.53% and 30-year mortgage rates fell to 4.75%. At the same time, the value of the U.S. Dollar plummeted, as other currencies surged up against it. The Fed is printing money with a zeal seldom - if ever - seen before. In all, the Fed will stimulate the economy to the tune over $1 trillion more, on top of the White House's massive multi-trillion spending programs already launched in the past few weeks. Yes, they are serious about getting this economy back on strong footing. But they also risk the dark side of the forthcoming Jupiter-Neptune conjunction, which is inflation. You may remember last summer the Federal deficit was projected to be $500 billion this year. Then it was raised to $800 billion towards the end of last year, and then $1.2 trillion early this year. This week, it is now estimated to rise to $1.8 trillion. This phenomenon where the budget deficit " .will rise much greater than anyone expects " was discussed in detail in the year's Forecast 2009 Book, along with the likely ramifications. Jupiter and Neptune are in Aquarius, and Uranus is in Pisces, creating a very rare astrological phenomenon known as a mutual reception. It has only happened twice in the past 3000 years, the last time being 1843. With Jupiter and Neptune together (May-July 2009 is the strongest part of this aspect), the dynamics tend to be inflationary. But with Uranus involved, the risk is not a " gradual " return to inflation, but a Uranian " sudden and unexpected dramatic " return. Is there really a risk here? Chairman Bernanke recently said there is no risk of inflation in the foreseeable future. But remember: he has the Sun-Jupiter opposition natally at 21 Sagittarius-Gemini. Transiting Uranus is hovering around 21 degrees of Pisces, in T-square to his Sun-Jupiter opposition, and all in mutable signs. This is not a signature usually related to accurate forecasting skills, or good judgment. The risk is over-estimating (or grossly under-estimating) the effect of one's actions. That is why transiting Uranus in hard aspect to natal Jupiter is one of the classical bankruptcy aspects in astrology. It is not that one cannot make money during these times, for often one makes a lot of money. But when and how these individuals choose to spend or invest (or speculate) their money oftentimes involves a risk that is far more serious than they thought, and it results in larger losses than expected. In this case, the decision could quite easily result in a sudden increase in inflation that was not foreseen, with the next result requiring a sudden jump in interest rates that thwarts the economic recovery. Guest guest
Namaste Anna, Some economists have opined that the US government should not have done anything to bail out the affected institutions, or other measures to intervene with the financial collapse. If that was done, we would have lost all of our savings in the banks and stocks in our stock portfolio. The rest of the scenario would be too bleak to describe. In the end, it would still be the responsibility of the government to take care of the people. The government would still need to budget for deficit spending in order to revive the economy. So, in effect, the present government intervention was justifiable in that, if successful, would prevent more suffering in the USA and the rest of the world. In jyotish terms, the present neecha Jupiter is part of the cycle in the cosmic scheme of things. As someone said before: This too shall pass. Guest guest
Namaste Marg, The problem now for the USA and the world is the apparent recession and probable depression. At the present time, the responsible economists should be devising ways and strategies to counter the effects of the problem. Based on the theory of Keynes, it is advisable for the government to take steps to correct the situation by massive spending programs. Somewhere down the line, inflation may occur. But that can be addressed later when the time comes. Regards, JR , " Marg " <margie9 wrote: > > Thought financial wizards might enjoy this analysis of the markets using tropical astrology, it's taken from Ray Merriman who publishes a book on the subject every year > Review and Preview > The " Sagittarius Factor " of last Monday through Wednesday corresponded with huge price swings in many financial and commodity markets, most notably Treasuries, currencies, and precious metals. > > Longer-Term Thoughts > The Venus retrograde effect was in full force last week. Guest guest
Namaste Shri John, Kindly enlighten me what will happen to present position of Neech Jupiter when Mars also transits in Cancer in early October - its sign of debilitation. Guest guest
Hi John Yes I keep hearing about Keynes, the thing is when he devised his theories most bankers were more trustworthy, and financial markets were not as complicated as they have become. What concerns me, especially as in western astrol we have Jupiter with Neptune, planet of deception, it seems the old solutions are no match for new problems and new surreptitious, if not criminally based, financial markets such as equities and hedge funds and the rest, not to mention the odd Ponzi scheme which can hide amongst the complexities. I don't think anyone genuinely knows what has gone wrong in the markets, though many will 'pretend' (Jupiter with deluded Neptune again) they do. I also believe that governments are part of the problem itself, where they have deliberately failed to regulate, but also have plunged people into this crisis in order to pursue some other agenda-- namely globalisation and world control. I have listened to the coverage of the enquiry into the downturn in the UK and what comes across is how little these 'experts' know in terms of accounting for what has gone wrong. Not one of them can account for the role they played, or have any idea of how the current situation can inform them of which way they should be regulating for the future. The fact that Madoff (an ultimate signature for Jupiter with Neptune---deceitful treasurer) can co exist for so long in financial environments which very few understand, and no one knows even now where the money he got has gone, is cause for concern, and demonstrates that it only takes one rotten apple to rot the whole cartload, but if no one knows what a rotten apple looks like, then how to remove it before the rest turn sour? Neptune with Jupiter shows that we have deluded bankers, financiers and treasurers, who in turn are deluding us...the emperors new clothes syndrome if you like...we lie and pretend---you believe, best wishes M - John Thursday, March 26, 2009 8:48 PM Re: Paradox of Jupiter's Neecha Status in Makara Namaste Marg, The problem now for the USA and the world is the apparent recession and probable depression. Guest guest
Namaste Balasubramaniam, The transit of Mars in Cancer is the cyclical time to beware of natural disasters that occur in one's geographical area in the world. For the Far East and South Asia, this is usually the time when typhoons, tsunamis and earthquakes would occur. In North America, the USA is usually plagued by the hurricanes that have devastated the city of New Orleans and other metropolitan centers in the area. So, the mutual aspect of Mars and Jupiter, both of whom are neechas, could heigthen the danger of these natural disasters for the world in general. As a precautionary measures, the emergency units in these areas should be alerted to the possibility of these areas in order to avert any confusion that resulted in many deaths in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA a few years ago. It's officially springtime now. As discussed a few weeks ago, this new season may come in with a bang. After all, the first non-lunar aspect made as we begin spring will be the Sun square Pluto on Monday, March 23. This will also end the " translation " of the Sun to the Saturn-Uranus- Pluto developing T-square, which was in force March 8-23. If the Venus retrograde is more powerful than the Sun's translation to the Saturn-Uranus- Pluto T-square, then the market should continue its rally for a few more weeks before taking out the low of March 6-10. If not, we may see the bear market resuming. With Pluto in the picture as the spring equinox begins, the focus is once again on debt, for Pluto rules debt, death, and taxes. At the same time, the > value of the U.S. Dollar plummeted, as other currencies surged up against it. Chairman Bernanke recently said there is no risk of inflation in the foreseeable future. But remember: he has the Sun-Jupiter opposition natally at 21 Sagittarius- Gemini. Guest guest
Namaste Shri John, Thank you for your observation.
