Guest guest
Namaste Shanmukha, I am very impressed! I referred to four commentaries on Jaimini (Sastri, Rangacharya, Rath and Kambhampati) and they gave different interpretations of Jaimini's aphorism on drigdasa. None of them matched what was unambiguously taught by Parasara. I concluded that Jaimini commentators did not interpret his cryptic words correctly and I went by Parasara. I was quite satisfied when I applied Parasara's teaching in charts. Then I *tried* to reconcile Jaimini's sutra with Parasara, but it was an unsatisfactory attempt - I did a really poor job. What you pulled off below is quite a scholarly and logical effort at reconciliation. It is certainly a tenable argument. Thank you very much for this contribution. * * * Though Iranganti Rangacharya gave a totally different interpretation of Jaimini, his version of drigdasa is not even based on aspects and deviates from Parasara heavily. Atleast, the translations of Pt Sanjay Rath and Prof PS Sastri come close to Parasara in *several* details. In any case, the alternate interpretation you have given for Jaimini's sutras related to drigdasa to make them match Parasara's teaching is certainly tenable. When one can somehow find an agreement between Parasara and Jaimini, the matter ends there as far as I am concerned. * * * When I met Pt Sanjay Rath several years ago and became a student of his, he clearly told me that the knowledge available in Parampara was good, but quite incomplete and half-baked. He said there were many things that he was not confident of. He impressed upon me the need to do honest research to make the knowledge more complete and correct. My research in Parasara's drigdasa and other topics was done in that spirit and I know that the Pt Sanjay Rath that I met and became a student of would be pleased with the effort. Now I am pleased to see a logical way to reconcile it with Jaimini too. * * * Those who want to refer to my article on drigdasa with examples can download the following zip file and unzip it to get a PDF file: http://VedicAstrologer.org/articles/drik_am.zip Best regards, Narasimha Do a Short Homam Yourself: http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/homam Do Pitri Tarpanas Yourself: http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/tarpana Spirituality: Free Jyotish lessons (MP3): http://vedicastro.home.comcast.net Free Jyotish software (Windows): http://www.VedicAstrologer.org Sri Jagannath Centre (SJC) website: http://www.SriJagannath.org sohamsa , " Shanmukha " <teli_sha2002 wrote: > > > Om Namah Sivaya > > > > Namaste all, > > > > There has been a lot of discussion regarding Drig Dasa of Parasara > article by Sri Narasimha. Guest guest
Namaste all, In the previous mail, it looks there is a chance of ambiguity. What I meant regarding aspects is that only Rasi aspects, not the Graha Aspects (7th house etc.). What I meant by dynamic aspect of planet is again aspect of planets by Rasi drishti only. In Jaimini there is only one aspect that is Rasi Drishti. Warm regards, Shanmukha.
Guest guest
Dear Shanmukha Where does Jaimini say not to use graha drishti or to use only Rashi dristi? Why does he call his sutras as Upadesha and not Shastra?
