Planetary Transits for January 17 – January 23

 

Sun transits Capricorn, from 02:31 to 09:38°. Sun is weak and under the

aspect of Mars until Jan. 19.

 

Moon is waxing and transits Aries, Taurus, Gemini and Cancer. Moon, in

Taurus, is exalted Jan. 17 – 19. The full Moon is in its own sign, Cancer,

Jan. 22 at 7:34 a.m. CT.

 

Mars transits Gemini, from 01:20 to 00:23°. Mars is retrograde until Jan.

30, weak until Feb. 29, and under the influence of Rahu until March 11.

(There can be problems relative to fire, police, military, property,

executives, explosions, etc.) Mars remains in Gemini until April 28.

 

Mercury transits Capricorn from 20:03 to 28:02°, outside the orb of

influence of other planets.

Two questions/clarifications, please clarify when you get a moment.

 

1. What lagna are you using for Senator Obama?

2. Jupiter is strong in its own sign - but look what is happening to

all the banks in US (for that matter financial institutions). It is

unclear if we can make this general conclusion.There is something else

in play. Country chart, dasa bhukti may give some clues.

 

Karaka in its own bhava is not good - one school of thought. Sun in

Leo not good for father, Jupiter in Sagi is not good for finances etc.

could be possible but I have not done any work to say for sure.

 

Anyway the current meltdown is financial stocks (banks, financial

institutions) has to be explained somehow.

Thank you for your email.

 

There are several birth times floating around for Senator Obama.

 

I have not rectified his chart.

 

My prediction is solely on the basis of Rahu and Ketu.

 

Regardless of the time of birth, on the date of birth, his Rahu and Ketu

were in the 3-degree range, in odd signs.

 

Currently, Rahu and Ketu are stationary in the three-degree range, and will

remain so until March 26th.

 

Whenever Rahu and Ketu are stationary for a long duration, and are closely

afflicting any planet, there can be grave mishaps and misfortunes.

 

As for the other question, yes, Jupiter is strong and well placed; but on

the other hand, Mars, ruling executives and property, and which has the

power to give a kingdom, is currently under the close affliction of transit

Rahu.

 

This impact is there through March 11.

Hello Shukra,

 

Good question.

 

The transit-to-natal conjunction of the nodes, even in reverse, is a particularly difficult transit. describes it as potentially the most painful transit.

 

Barack Obama has natal Rahu at 3° 58' Leo and Ketu at 3° 58' Aquarius. Transit Rahu is now at 3° 50' Aquarius and transit Ketu at 3° 50' Leo. The transit nodes are now stationary and will remain at around 3° 45' for some weeks before moving down slightly and continuing stationary at around 3° 30'. As a result, the transit to natal aspect is therefore very close in the chart of Barack Obama at this time while the nodes are stationary.

 

According to the 24° Libra rising chart based on 13:06 birth time, the transit nodes would affect his 11th house (of hopes, older brother, income). Pariwise, Ketu is in the 5th houses (of children and creativity)

 

According to the 9:06 time, he would have 29° Leo rising and then the Rahu would be in the 1st house (of self) and Ketu in the 7th houses (of spouse). In this chart, the nodes are also just within the MEPs of the 12th and 6th houses. This would signal some more problems from the nodes as he gets older than would be the case in the Libra rising chart.

 

The nodal conjunction is therefore either placing strain on his 11th/5th houses (Libra rising) or 1st/7th houses (Leo rising). Perhaps, due to the close attention he is getting at this time, the news will report which areas in his life are coming under most pressure in his life at this time.

 

Fortunately, it is not taking place during the period of either Rahu or Ketu. Moreover, it has begun to seperate. However, it remains within 1° orb until March 26th, 2008, when the transit nodes will have moved below 2° 58'. Obama therefore needs to take care, as David Hawthorne suggests, during this time when the transit nodes are stationary on top of his natal nodes.

Dear Shukra:

 

Whenever Rahu and Ketu are afflicting themselves in the natal chart, they

can cause serious and unexpected problems, troubles and tension.

 

This is even more significant when they are stationary for one to two

months, which they are from Jan. 20 to March 26.

 

This impact is in the chart of Senator Barack Obama, regardless of his exact

time of birth.
