Guest guest
Dear Friends, Jyotish origins in India - 1) Vedanga Jyotish or Jyotirvidya . The philosphy of the Vedas were the base here. The spread of the vedic cult very meaningfully formulated the principles upon which the entire edifice of the HIndu society, including its rites and rituals have been built. Jyotirvidya has been the applied philosphy of the Vedas. It is impossible to understand a Hindu home, a Hindu society pefectly without the knowledge of Vedanga Jyotisha. This Jyotish came with the Aryans. 2) Rakshas Jyotish - This was in pre-Aryan era. It is speculated that these jyotishis were known as Rakshasas because they followed different thoughts and processes in Jyotish , than what the Aryans followed. But some of their formulaes and aphorisms are superbly astounding and found in the Nadi Granthas and Prashna Gnana etc. 3) Yavana Jyotish - Following the Aryans, those living beyond the geographical limits of India, and people of other civilisations from various countries visited India, for trade , few of them stayed over here leading to exchange of ideas ,cultures and processes of prognostications. It may sound strange to many that the classical thoughts of Jyotish are different from the popular Vedanga Jyotish which we know. The classical ideas could only be understood by the adepts and perhaps impossible to explain through books. Now comes the bombshell for many, who may not believe this. Their designs in sketching the Zodiac are same as in Sayana system. ( Which means finally that the Sayana system is Indian after all ) The Yogis and Tantriks can follow this system more easily. Some Tantriks and Tibetan Lamas still retain these cultures but have confined their uses and secrets amongst their disciples only. Now the difference between the Sayan system of the classical , was that it was based on the use of Nakshatras which is missing in the Sayana system of today.(KP is applying it though probably in the classical system Planetary Lordships may not have been alloted to the Nakshatras). It is deemed by many that this system came into use before the conception of the division of time, by the Causes of Nature viz. Air, Fire, Water and Earth. (Niw when I mean classic here, I do not mean few thousands of years ago , but much beyond that, maybe whenever astrology just begun after creation of Earth and was handed over to the Aryans. Now the above, I personally believe because I have some reasons. I am not expecting all to believe this. I cannot expand further on this at the moment, Cannot provide references again at the moment and cannot prove what is written above, at the moment. Take it or leave it. regards, Bhaskar..
