Jyotishgroup Changes

Dear Members,

I have made some changes to the Jyotishgroup today as under:

a) The messages are now unmoderated as I have seen considerable

decline in abuses and personal attacks. I will however continue to

monitor the messages. This means that messages from new members will

appear immediately.

b) Archive is now publicly viewable. To read the messages, you do not

have to register or login any more. This will benefit from those who

do not wish to just read the posts. Posting to the forum is still

limited to registered members, who need to be approved. This is to

ensure the list remains spam free.

Appreciate your views on these changes.

Sir,

This is welcome move and liberal progressive thinking.

a) Unmoderation is good and democratic way of dealing

and a wise step. As long as members do not take advantage

by going for strong abuses which may be required to be met

with further more, as replies, which spoils the atmosphere.

Otherwise slight heat and strong arguments is good and

a part of any discussion group minus the abuses part.

It is a a relief for us that the messages would be under

your gaze and you would be monitoring them.

b) This too is a good move as those who are already memebrs

of too many Forums, not wanting to join more, but yet wishing

to be update with the discussons here, can relish these

archives. In same way, those wishing to join, and

who find the archives interesting, would register themselves

as members here.

Though we members behave like little children many times,

and you having to monitor such messages, we appreciate

your presence here, in this way.

regards,

Bhaskar.

dear Raj rao,

jyotish group is one of the bigger groups on astrology which commands

popularity. It is no secret that certain sections in amicable to india watch

these groups either on astrology , indian culture, history or on religion.

By making the achieves public, we are privy for information reaching the

wrong hands.

U may say that anyone can join with a disguised ID and read the messages

but we always would come to know the IP of such computers.

any way, it is okay if i am being too paranoid.

You are right. And I am paranoid when admitting new members. I try to

do as much due diligence that I can before I allow a person to join

this forum.

Dear Raj and Kishore

I'm not sure what there is to worry about?

In the west even with good id people have been tracked and ridiculed in the

media when they have tried to conduct themselves in a dishonourable way.

People have even lost their jobs. It is now big business for organisations to be

employed to track individuals, especially if they are in top jobs, and find out

how they behave on the internet.

We read stories of many who thought their id was secure, but employers and

colleagues found out about their surfing and group activities and many have

already been shamed in the media and even lost their jobs through use of foul

language, or other improper behaviour, while others have just been ridiculed and

mocked.

best wishes

what if they are in top jobs? what if they are anti Hindus who are just

eyeing the group activities with an idea to disrupt any credence to Hinduism

as a religion and thought?

what could we do to Paul Cortwright, who has tried to establish Hinduism as

a filthy religion in his book Ganesha by writing that Sati, the concort of

Siva was raped by her father, by writing that Hinduism believes that humans

were created out of anus of God and by writing that Ganesha's trunk

represents man's penis? I do not see any widespread anger on the part of

common Hindu- considering that this book has been published in 1985!!!

It is no secret several times there were ridiculous attacks in media on

Hinduism and attempts were made to belittle this great ancient religion.

Hence, it is better to be cautious!

dear raj I believe you should just do your best and we should trust you in

every way possible to do your best, paranoia is a terrible feeling so please

accommodate and adjust (modify). as the group becomes stronger in solidarity

which my heart predicts will happen eventually in due course, then I see

that we can advise you personally that people should join this group? (is

that is a terrible idea? please clarify if so). I think that your strict

moderation is necessary only momentarily as there seems to be a good shift

in producing a better group than before and that we all will more than

likely be vocal in our support of adding new members. there are many great

astrologers who have left and I am sure they will be more than happy to come

back. I know that great astrologers hold very little tolerance for carrying

resentfulness as they know it affects their health greatly for the long

run!! that's some medical astrology for you there!!

for note: this is just my opinion pushed forward and in no way at all is it

a definitive account of the group and I mean that!! I am sure this will lead

to another thread (discussion) or maybe not? no harm no foul!!!
