Also a small discussion on divisional charts came up. As I understood, the planets based on their Rasi and advancement within rasi moves to either same or different rasi in divisional chart. I have few questions on this. Request the learned members to answer. 1. What is the rational of divisional charts? A Rasi chart is a snap shot of planetary position at a defined point of time. So how do we define divisional charts? 2. Lets take Navamsha, for example, Moon at 8Sc24 in Rasi chart moves to Virgo. Does this indicate that the eighth degree of scorpio has nature of virgo, if not what does it specifies? Thank you very much,Keshav ICC World Twenty20 England '09 exclusively on ! Guest guest
Dear Kashav, ///1. What is the rational of divisional charts? A Rasi chart is a snap shot of planetary position at a defined point of time. So how do we define divisional charts?/// By " rational " I assume you mean the basic purpose of these vargas? In basic terms the vargas give more insight to the specific (bhava) significations. Many Astrologers have their own way of approaching this and, again, this is an area where there seems to be more than a little controversy. I can only share my method of consulting the vargas. First: I am of the mind that, although they are called divisional 'Charts', they are not actually charts in the true sense - merely divisions of the main horoscope (Rashi). And, as such, there no 'Bhavas' (per se) have manifested in these divisions. So, when we say that some planet owns 10th bhava in Navamsha (for instance), this is inherently wrong in my opinion. As I said, this is my opinion and I'm well aware that others may hold a different opinion. Second: The divisionals (Vargas), covering specific areas of our lives in greater depth, are invaluable in their ability to broaden the natal chart. They can, of course, be particularly useful in the birth of twins for instance who may be born only minutes apart and their main horoscope may be identical; however, by consulting the divisionals, the differences in certain areas of their lives may become clear. Third: I might use the example of a chart I've been working on recently. I'm sure everyone has heard of the singer 'Susan Boyle' who experienced meteoric recognition (fame/publicity) after her audition on B.G.T.. Indeed the dasa/transits at the time strongly support these events as does her D10 (Dashamsha). Here (D10) we see dasa lord Saturn exalted in the sign of Venus. In Rashi, Venus (significator of music, singing, theatre etc) is in friendly sign in 11th house...long-term desires, auspicious events, opportunities, fulfilment of hopes and wishes etc.. I won't write any more here (for now) but for those interested, Susan's chart can be seen here. http://jyotishvidya.com/susan.htm Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com ___ - " Keshav V " <mv.keshav " jyotish-vidya " <jyotish-vidya > Friday, June 19, 2009 4:04 PM Questions division charts Dear Friends, In my last class, we were taught about how to prepare rasi chart using ephemeris.
