Saturn - the Karaka for 8 and 12th Houses - Moon - the karaka for 4th house.

1, 5 and 9th Houses are known as Konas. Of them, 9th is the most powerful. They

are classified as Dharma Bhavas. Naturally the effect and nature of the results

that accrue from these houses differ. Of course, the results may have a similar

flavour, but there will be some gradation in the perception of the native at the

mundane level as per his understanding.

 

Likewise, 4, 8 and 12th Houses are also known as Konas in the context of Moksha

Bhavas. On the same analogy, 12th house shall be the most powerful. Moon is

the karaka for the 4th house. The fourth house stands for happiness. What is

the nature of Moon? Moon is a fast moving planet. It is waxing and waning. It

is ever changing. He is karaka for mind. What is the nature of mind? The

nature of mind is " Chanchal " (ever wandering). What is happiness? You had a

delicious meal. You are happy. How long this happiness last? You are married.

You are enjoying the conjugal felicity. How long this happiness last?

Happiness and Sorrow – again happiness and sorrow – so on and so forth…. it goes

on for some time. With the help of the ever-changing mind, happiness and sorrow

(the duality) are perceived by the Soul. The law of diminishing returns start

operates, in due course. They body does not with stand the pain. It started

creaking. The Soul needs a new clothe, a new body.

 

The 8th house comes to play here. The karaka for 8th house is Saturn. He is

slow but steady. He gives you the " Vairagya " (determination). Saturn represents

the longevity. The 8th house stands for longevity – the death. Death takes

place. The body ceases to be in this earth. There is a relief. Without the

body, there is no happiness or pain, the state of interregnum. It enjoys some

rest – some peace- a longer relief. This state is for a longer period but there

is an end. (Of course, there are exceptions – some comes back so quickly.) The

relief is available till the next birth. The Soul should come back and work out

the unfinished karmas.

 

The coming and going takes place endlessly. 10th house of activities and the

11th house of gains are repeated or activated again and again. (Interestingly,

the lord of the two houses again is Saturn). Once the Mind is attained the

complete Vairagya, the 12th house of Moksha (final emancipation) comes the way.

The Saturn is the Karka for 12th House. Saturn is the karaka for sorrow. When a

Soul attains that emancipation, the loss of all sorrows takes place, only the

peace and bliss prevail. It is a process of slow and steady i.e. the role of

Saturn. There is no return. This is a state, which is everlasting Bliss.

PS: 12th house is the house of losses. The person who possesses the " vairagya "

never intends any sort of gains. Moon (mind) in the sign of Mars (struggles)

aspected by Saturn (vairagya) is the combination for ascetics. This could be

seen otherwise also. Moon in the sign of Saturn and aspected by Mars.

Varahamihira prescribes this combination for ascetics.
