Guest guest
Dear Vic and All, Here is the response I got from GeoVision (PL). Apparently, at this time, it's not possible to generate a chart using BCE dates... Going by this I have some doubt now whether the chart I generated using GJ (Goravani Jyotish) is technically correct. This is how the program works. It was designed to allow users to enter birth data in many different formats people may be used to (including 10 jan 88 or 11/12/78, i.e. the year can be indicated as 2 digits to save data entry time) As a result of this convenience, the lowest year you can enter is 100 CE. If only 2 non-zero digits are entered for the year, it will consider this to be a 20th century date (i.e. it adds 19 in front of it), and if only one non-zero digit is entered it will consider this to be a 21th century date (i.e. it adds 200 in front of it). For years 2010 and above you need to always enter all 4 digits. For more details about birth data entry, refer to section " Creating a new Chart " on page 24 in the user manual. We are looking into supporting earlier birth years than 100 CE, including BCE years, but a considerable amount of research is needed, and we are also not sure if we do it technically. If we can do it, we'll definitely include it in a future update. Let me know if you need any additional help. Thanks and best regards, Claude Customer Support Geovision Software Inc. Guest guest
PS: This poses the question of how Moby Dick managed to generate his chart. The answer (obviously) is that Western astrology software has (apparently) been able to do this for some time? Is the problem with Jyotish software due to the Ayanamsha? Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Wendy, As a tech industry person, I think they gave you the " tech support " answer. I was able to get moby dicks chart in PL. Enter the information as you would - but instead of 0007 for the date, put in 100. Then bring up the chart. Now press F9 key and you'll get the Time Change tool. With this tool you can move 10 years forward or back at a time. So press " - " next to " 10 Years " at the very top. Soon you'll be at -7 BC and have your chart. I do believe that Jagannath Hora (which is free) does ancient dates easily. ~ Vic DiCara www.vicdicara.com www.vedicastrologer.net On Nov 7, 2008, at 9:02 PM, Wendy Vasicek wrote: > PS: This poses the question of how Moby Dick managed to generate his > chart.
