Guest guest
Dear Group: Are we guilty of overlooking Rashi-drishti??? Why does Parashar seem to give it more importance than graha-drishti??? (see BPHS 8.1-5) Does anyone in this group currently utilize Rashi-drishti on a practical basis? If so please share some light on your experience with it's utility. Thanks! ~ Vic DiCara www.vicdicara.com www.vedicastrologer.net
Guest guest
Dear Vic, Rasi Drishti is considered to go with Jaimini technique. It may not be a good idea to discuss it on this list. Moreover, I have not studied it enough to talk about it confidently. Guest guest
Dear Krishna, Vic and All, It's important to understand the basic difference between Parasara's (prefered) Vimsottari dasa system and the others mentioned in the work (BPHS) attributed to Parasara. What we must remember, first and foremost, is that this book was not written by Parasara himself but is believed to be a compilation of manuscripts written down much later - evolving into its present form a couple of thousand years after Parasara's time. Here's what Parasara says about Vimsottari... http://jyotishvidya.com/ch46.htm *O Brahmin! Dashas are of many kinds. Amongst them Vimshottari is the most appropriate for the general populace. *But in our view all these (other) Dashas are not appropriate. *In Kali Yuga the natural life-span of a human being is generally taken, as 120 years. Therefore Vimshottari Dasha is considered to be the most appropriate and the best of all Dashas. The Kalachakra (rashi-specific) dasas are discussed in Ch.49 http://jyotishvidya.com/ch49.htm Common-sense alone tells us that rashi drishti is used in conjunction with rashi-specific dasa systems. Gary Gomes has a good article on the fundamental difference between the two systems. http://www.astrologyguild.com/jaimini.htm Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com ___ - " Krishnamurthy Seetharama " <krishna_1998 <jyotish-vidya > Saturday, November 08, 2008 2:16 PM Re: Rashi-drishti Dear Vic, Rasi Drishti is considered to go with Jaimini technique.
