Being Basic about Astrology

Here is what I have as a basic astrologer:Beforehand (because there's no word for Zerost).. I usually have at least 1 or 2 important yogas for any chart to consider carefully and weigh.First... 12 houses, whose 12 lords each deliver a meaning based on their lordship position.Second... 12 houses, whose strength from their lord, dispositor, occupants and aspects delivers quite a complex meaning. Now that is extremely basic, and even in that extremely basic system you have factorials of 12*12*9 as a MINIMUM number representing it's complexity. Considering that each of the items in the preceding equation contains within itself about half a dozen distinct angles and contexts - the actual factor of complexity should be 6*6*6 (oh my) of whatever 12*12*9 equals. AKA its sufficiently complex ALREADY to handle just about any normal reading query.Take it to a "normal" basic level and you have 27 lunar mansions and 108 occult zodiacs (aka. navamsha padas). Factor 27 and 108 into that complexity equation... =) Also factor in the basic traditional Vimshottari Dasha system with at least dashas and bhuktis... this is already EXTREMELY complex and capable of addressing just about any query put to an astrologer under any circumstance. Now take it to a somewhat advanced basic / traditional level and you have about half a dozen harmonic divisions to add into the base of the equation. At this point your complexity number is approaching the number of atoms in the known universe, I would bet.Now if we move TRADITIONAL astrology up to the intermediate level (for which I do not consider myself yet to be fit) we have the side-effects of the planets known as Upa-grahas to consider! Then if we move traditional astrology up to the advanced level we have to consider non heavenly astrological factors such as breathing patterns, heart rates, and the nearly infinite possibilities of omens, etc.Now to say that a lack of Uranus, Neptune or Pluto in ones calculations causes one to be tradition-bound or narrow-minded or to not take advantage of all the possible tools at ones disposal does seem a bit feather-weight in comparison to the complexity that already exists in the traditional system, would you agree? On top of that, I would like to say something quite important: I think people ignore the basics and thereby lose their foundations and become top heavy. I am not saying that you or anyone specific does this, i think it is simply an inherent trend in any complex science like astrology. With recourse only to the very most basic principles of the very most traditional forms of astrology one can, with the blessings of the devas and asuras, answer any question at all. Now the danger is that one may progress forward to more complex aspects of astrology BEFORE they know how to do just that. And this causes a fog and confusion in the science and practice of astrology.I therefore limit myself to very fundamental principles in Astrology and feel that this is the most broad minded approach possible. - Vic DiCara~ ~ ~site: www.vedicastrologer.netfacebook: www.facebook.com/pages/Authentic-Astrology-Vedic/30214498650~ ~ ~
