Guest guest
The following numbers are the only roots of 108 * 1 x 108 * 2 x 54 * 3 x 36 * 4 x 27 * 6 x 18 * 9 x 12 If you are careful you will notice a pattern related to the number 9. For instance, all the numbers on the right side are multiples of 9 and sum up to 9. For example, 108 is 9x12 and sums up to 9 (1+0+8=9). 54 is 9x6 and sums to 9 (5+4). 36 is 9x4 and sums to 9. Etc. EXCEPT when you get to 9 itself you find the pattern broken! 9 x 12 = 108, but 12 is the only number in the list that is neither a multiple of 9, nor sums up to 9! Thus it can be said that though 108 has 6 roots, the prime root of 108 is 9x12 because it is the only root which is not wholly dependant upon the number 9. Significantly, the most important astrological harmonic division is the " navamsha " chart - in which the 12 signs are divided into 9 slices. Guest guest
Hi Vic, That is interesting...Just to add Per Mathematics 2 and 3 are prime numbers. 108 can be expressed as multiplication of Prime numbers as follows 108 = 9 x 12 or 108 = 3x 3 x 3 x2 x 2 Thus 108 has 2 prime factors 2 and 3 2 x 54 = 3 x 36 The numbers 54 and 36 both ending in 9 Just a hought...Why not 3 Divisions of each of the 12 houses? So in all probability Each House ending in having 2 Rashis, unless the House is to commence at 0 degrees. --- On Tue, 10/28/08, Vic D <vicdicara wrote: Vic D <vicdicara More Interesting Stuff about 108 jyotish-vidya Tuesday, October 28, 2008, 7:44 PM The following numbers are the only roots of 108 * 1 x 108 * 2 x 54 * 3 x 36 * 4 x 27 * 6 x 18 * 9 x 12 If you are careful you will notice a pattern related to the number 9. Guest guest
Dear Mandar, Thanks for the information! > Per Mathematics 2 and 3 are prime numbers. 108 can be expressed as > multiplication of Prime numbers Excellent... for example: 108 = (3x3x2) x (3x3)! Yes, excellent! Your information allows us to see another key! In this list... * 1 x 108 * 2 x 54 * 3 x 36 * 4 x 27 * 6 x 18 * 9 x 12 ....not only do the numbers on the right (except " 12 " in the last) sum to 9, the numbers on the left are products of 2 and 3 (except " 1 " in the first). > Why not 3 Divisions of each of the 12 houses? So in all probability > Each House ending in having 2 Rashis, unless the House is to > commence at 0 degrees. Well yes, there are so many subdivisions. http://jyotishvidya.com/ch6.htm shows the primary ones. Division of the 12 houses into 3 harmonics is called the Drekkan ( " decante " in the West). Division of the 12 houses into 2 harmonics is called the Hora. And in fact these (Hora, Drekkan, and Navamsha) three are quite important in comparison to the rest. The Navamsha is the MOST important. The dashamsha is also important and I am not sure at the moment of the numerological reason why. ~~~ Vic DiCara www.vicdicara.com www.vedicastrologer.net
