Dear All:

I have hit on an amazing idea (amazing to me, at least). I was playing

guitar and said to my wife " Wow, it really makes a difference when you

take your time and tune it well " (mind you I am very Saturnian and

move like air, very quickly without preparations like tuning the

instruments I play, etc.)

She replied, " Yeah, each string is a separate vibration. "

Just them a neural network switched on inside my brain. All the

planets are vibrations, which are embodied in mantras, those mantras

have geometric patterns which correspond to yantras and crystalline

structures in various types of gems. Each pattern has a numerological

root as well.

Sun is 1 - the beginning - the root: the consciousness

Moon is 2 - the duality - love and hate: the emotions

Mars is 3 - the piercing triangle: energy and direction

Mercury is 4 - the balanced intelligence, able to interchange its

points and interact with itself: communication

Jupiter is 5 - a pentagon - the combination of a square and triange...

intelligence put into action: morality.

Venus is 6 - a six sided star with a symetrical and balanced male and

female triange: love and beauty and harmony

Saturn is 7 - the ending

Rahu is 8 - the disintegration

Ketu is 9 - the dissolution

So now I am searching for a means to correlate specific notes on the

musical scale to a corresponding planet. I am on the lookout for ideas

on how to do so. Please contact me and let me know your suggestions.

Specifically if you know or can discover any numeric correlation of

the indian raga scale, I would appreciate knowing it. Also, if you

know weather sa, ga, pa, etc (the notes of the Vedic scale) are

associated with specific deities, or ANY information that would help

me correlate them with specific planets, shapes or numbers, please

reply!!!!

Going one step further,I would say

Each Mantra is a Separate Vibration (Your wife says quite rightly Each String is

a separate Vibration)

Each word in the Mantra is a mini vibration that becoms part of the main

Vibration.

You can also try to analyze each jaap or mantra and the Vibration that it sets

in(1 to 6 below as per your email)  which Planets it is coming close to...That

would be interesting...

Mantras are known to impact different  areas of the body, which Mantra impacts

which area is  a matter of further research and would be a scientific basis of

analyzing Astrological Music Therapy.

Hi,

Have you considered the planets as they relate to the chakras? As you know all

the chakras respond to vibration and the chakras often hold the " root " cause of

many issues. With this in mind there would be a reverse as Saturn would be the

root?

Dear Vic,

I believe there is and the most simple explanation I've seen comes from David

Frawley. He assigns Saturn-1; Jupiter-2; Mars-3; Venus-4; Mercury-5; Moon-6;

Sun-7. The system makes sense to me as for example if the Sun is the atmakaraka

than it makes sense that the Sun would be the crown chakra.

Hi Vic,

I'm sorry as I misread your question---I am not versed in musical notes but the

entire Sanskrit can be related to the chakras and all of the petals of the

chakras--perhaps you can find someone who knows how to tie in the musical scale

with the Sanskrit.

Dear Mr  Vic,

In Southern part of India,music exponnets like MS and others tried to explore

effects of music in soothening the pains particularly in cancer patients after

chemotherapy.It was noted that music had gradually improved the pain levels and

brought changes in patients mood.Further trials wee also made to find healing of

various diseases through music.

In all these chakras(seven) present in the spine seen to get activated with

different nodes of music.Also these chakras based on panch bhootas basically are

related to the planets.If we take Mooladhara chakra is stated to beaassociated

Sa,with :Swadhistana :Ri,Manipura:Ga,Anahatha:Ma,Visudha:Pa,Sahasrara:Da

Basically meditation practised by sages found it's application in modern medical

sciences particularly for prevention and recuperation of diseases.

Association of Pancha bhootas with Nature and planets as part of the universe

and the cosmic influence of these planets are all issues waiting for

exploaration.Place of Music as a fine art has been accpeted as " a concentartive

and mediatation and mindfulness " .Here the form of concentration apart from

breath(prana)mantra or sound is equally musically nodes.

In devotional music particularly Bhajans(Crsna consciouness)  mindful

mediatation makes person into transcedental avstha that enlightens

consciouness.So music as a therapy is an area has come into existence.

Dear All:

Thanks to many of you for your awesome replies online and off. I would

like to report that I have made progress correlating the shrutis to

numbers and signs, as well as to chakras, through which they can be

correlated to planets and signs. I will keep you updated as my

investigation proceeds

To clarify, these are chakra numbers, not numerological numbers.

Saturn is chakra #1, but his numerological form is 7, the number of

wisdom and age. The Sun is chakra #7, but his numerological form is 1,

the number of unity and beginning: consciousness.

That's yet another interesting angle for investigation, thank you.

PS - Something EXTREMELY interesting - the TRINES in astrology are

inherint in musical notes as well. The entire sense of harmony -

eastern and western - revolves around the circle of 5ths.

1 & 5 are the foundations of harmony.

3 is the mediating factor determining if it sounds " happy " or " sad "

7 and 9 are the extensions of harmony.

There are 12 unique tones in a common scale

Dear vrKrishnan,

So you are suggesting direct correlation of notes to chakras as follows>

Sha -> root -> saturn

Ri -> sexual -> Jupiter

Ga -> naval -> Mars

Ma ->heart -> Venus

Pa -> throat -> Mercury

Dha -> forehead ->Moon

Ni -> crown -> Sun

????

Now I need to correlated eastern notes to western. Shouldn't be hard.

I think Sha is the A below middle C...
