Guest guest
- Hi enigma and All, Why don't we take up a few actual horoscopes of people we know to study the impact of this yoga under various different avasthas? I feel it would be a more meaningful discussion and we might learn more about this yoga? Guest guest
Dear enigma and All, I've tried to impress (for years) the importance of assessing each horoscope (and, of course, each yoga) on its own merits. Learning yogas parrot-fashion and applying the same result in every situation is short sighted to say the least. Without doubt, out of a dozen horoscopes with (apparently) the same yoga, we can see a dozen different results... We have to ask the question; Why... Why would this be so? Well, the sages tell us why with detailed descriptions of the various avasthas. We need to study these thoroughly until the CONCEPT becomes second nature. If we're lucky we'll find enough charts with the same yogas that we can study and compare, and, over time, we'll (hopefully) gain enough EXPERIENCE to be able to interpret these yogas correctly. Since this thread started with the question of GCY in both Krishna and my charts, it would be beneficial for members to study these variations (in depth)...as well as the other charts put forward by Krishna (and any others you can find yourself). KRISHNA'S EXAMPLES: - Christopher Columbus - Charles Sobhraj - Jo Jo Starbuck - Madonna - Micheal Jackson Of course you will have to use mean node in your calculations as the yoga is not formed (in some cases) using true node. There really is no other way to reach a correct understanding other than to put the work in yourself. I can say one thing over and over again until I'm blue in the face and then someone else will say something else and so you go searching for another opinion and yet another, and so it goes on infinitum. Put in the work and find out for yourself...it's the only way! PS: I'll be away from the computer until Monday...weekends are for my family :-) Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com jyotish-vidya ___ - " Wendy Vasicek " <jyotish <jyotish-vidya > Saturday, April 28, 2007 9:21 AM Re: Guru-Chandala Yoga Dear enigma, Here is one reference I've just located with a quick search... Guest guest
Dear Wendy, Yes, I agree with you that the yogas should be looked at in varga charts specially in the Navamsha. B V Raman clearly mentions this in his writings. I understand Navamsha is the msot important of all the varga charts as it indicates the bhagya/dharma of the individual. In one of the longevity techniques that B V Raman discusses, he gives equal weightage to Rasi and Navamsa charts. Though I follow this, I am a bit puzzled by the importance given to Navamsha in longevity calculations. I have not yet understood the basis for the same. BTW, JHora software computes some of the important yogas. The user has the freedom to select any varga chart to look for the yogas in that chart. Guest guest
Dear Group, A Postscript to below post: It certainly makes life easier, of course, if we have a good jyotish software that lists the various avasthas. I use Parashara's Light which does provide all this information at a glance. I also might (whilst I'm at the computer) mention the importance of Yogas in Navamsha. Some astrologers say that yogas are not applicable in the divisional charts. However we know that the sages do mention particular yogas in navamsha. Ample reference can be found in HoraSara for instance i.e., in Ch.25 it states; " Should there be exchange of Navamshas between Mars and Venus, the female will be... " and again in Ch.26; " Should Mars and Saturn exchange their Rasis or Navamshas... " I mention this here as I've had queries off-list regarding exalted planets occupying sign of debility in Navamsha. I repeat here what I told this querant... The same rules (NeechaBhanga and other yogas) apply equally in Navamsha as they do in Rasi.
