Dear Manu,

A planet in iys own sign, its mooltrikona sign or exalted in natal chart is considered benficial but at the same time good or bad results depend upon the said planets's relationship with lagna lord. In case it is benefic but goes to its debilitated sign in Navamsha it is of no use.
