Significance of Shivling and worship

==========================================

Lord Shiva from time immemorial has been worshiped in

the form of ‘ling’ or ‘lingam.’ The word ‘ling’ means

‘symbol’ or ‘sign.’ It is the visible symbol of

Nirguna Brahman (the supreme being) and is present in

all the living beings.

In North,around Shiv-linga,goddess parvati,lord

ganesha, lord kartikeya and others are also build. To

worship Lord Shiva,it is advised to water shiv-linga

every morning.

Doubt

=========

Some people say that woman should not water shiv-linga

because parvati does not like woman serving her

husband so woman should pour water on parvati first

followed by lord ganesha and lord kartikey and lastly

come to lord-shiva (shiv ling). I want to ask is this

true?

Is this the way for woman to worship lord shiva and

goddess parvati.

Also, why is it advised sometime to mix milk with water

for shiv-linga abhishek ?

many thanks

??? ??? ??????

Dear Angel, Namaskar

This is not right, everyone can worship a Shiva linga provided they keep

the necessary level of purity required for any puja to be done. I think

someone is pulling your leg on this as ladies have been worshiping the

Shiva linga for a long time in India.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Shri Angel,

Namaste ! Below is the reply of Gurudev Shri Sanjay

Rath when i asked the same query in a personal mail

before 3 years..

Dear krithi

Any one can worship Lord Shiva, male , female or even

animals. There is

a

story of how a shiva linga was buried under the ground

and when a cow

would

go near the place, the milk would flow

automatically...now, if a cow

can do

the abhisheka, why can't a human being do it.

Only those 5 days are banned.

Yours truly,

Sanjay Rath

Hope my reply helped to clear your doubts.

Hare Rama Krishna

Namaskar to all

it was during one of SJC Atri Mp3's when Guruji Sanjay

was talking about Navamsa (I think), and Upapada lagna

in various vargas, when he said that Upapada lagna is

different in various vargas. He mentioned UL in

Vimsamsa and said that when native is single he is

doing worship (pouring water etc) alone, but when

he/she gets married than they should do worship

together...I belive somebody will add more knowledge

and informations to this topic since we are all

interested in it. Best wishes, Bojan
