Guest guest
Dear Chandramohan, It would be good if you could study the basics as laid down in the classics. Many are available online. For instance here is what Parashara says about the divisionals: BPHS Ch.7 http://jyotishvidya.com/ch7.htm 1-8. USE OF THE 16 DIVISIONS: I now explain the use of these sixteen divisions. The physique from the ascendant, wealth from Hora, happiness through coborn from decanate, fortunes from Chaturthamsa, sons and grandsons from Sapthamsa, spouse from Navamsa, power (and position) from Dasamsa, parents from Dvadasamsa, benefits and adversities through conveyances from Shodasamsa, worship from Vimsamsa, learning from Chathur Vimsamsa, strength and weakness from Bhamsa, evil effects from Trimsamsa, auspicious and inauspicious effects from Khavedamsa, and all indications from both Akshavedamsa and Shashtiamsa. These are the considerations to be made through the respective Vargas of divisions. The bhava whose lord is in a malefic Shashtiamsa will diminish, so say Garga and others. The bhava whose lord is in a benefic Shodasamsa (or Kalamsa) flourish. This is how the 16 Vargas are to be evaluated. Guest guest
Dear Chandramohan, This topic is too advanced for you right now. Put it away for later. You should be able to competently evaluate 10 or 12 birth charts before starting to consider the divisional charts. You need understand foundations one step at a time or else you start building a roof before you've erected walls. Here is my opinion, obtained from James Braha - but it is still too early for you to form an opinion on it yourself - So store this info for later when you are ready and capable of making sense of it and evaluating it: Try using the Navamsha's 1st and 7th Houses for information about marriage. Try using the Dasamsa's 1st and 10th Houses for information about career. Ignore " vargottama " . Guest guest
Dear Vic, All I have an opinion in using divisional charts. There are people who use D-30, D-60.. and not just till D-9. Try to see what happens by increasing birth time by a few seconds, the entire D-60 changes. How can anyone use such charts which can change completely in a matter of seconds? For my chart a change by one second changes GL in D-60. at 4 seconds PP changes in D-60. at 10 seconds PP again cahnged house in D-60. With around 90-100 seconds difference the d-60 lagna changed completely. It could be less than that also. How many people can be sure of their birth time within 30 seconds accuracy? No one can be, unless he is using a stopwatch and it inside the labour room. Guest guest
Dear Monica, Yes, I agree 100%. I frankly find it preposterous to use fine divisions. To be blunt, there are VERY few people who have any talent in astrology at all, from what I have seen so far. Few people can even make a reasonable interpretation of a single planet in a single house in a single sign in a singe chart. Therefore what's the point of multiple charts, multiple ascendants, and additional planets and sub-planets???? Hahaha, these people even talk about *comets* and *asteroids* sometimes! Pleeeeeeease! First be able to make use of the basics! If these people even want to WINK at a divisional chart they should be slapped on the hand!!! ;-) Navamsha is reasonably safe to use, there are fairly wide time tolerances (i think it's about 20 minutes?) and Dashamsa is reasonably safe. Anything above Dashamsa... I just pause and ask myself... WHY? Just for the sake of being Fancy? We don't need to be fancy, we need to be *ACCURATE*.
