Dear Allen,

As I'm sure you know, aspects of nodes are surrounded by controversy. Due to

the fact that they're not physical planets at all, traditional astrologers

afford no aspects to them. This is the view I hold to! It would be

preferable therefore to advise novice astrologers that any nodal aspects are

the view of some astrologers only and not a hard and fast rule.

More information on aspects of nodes can be found here:

http://jyotishvidya.com/nodes.htm

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Re: Graha dristi

Dear Sejal:

Drishti are aspects and they are categorized as partial and full. In

Jyotish, we are generally only concerned with the full aspects.

Each Graha aspects fully the seventh house, reckoned from its position.

In addition to the seventh aspect, Grahas posited outside the orbit of

the earth, as well as Rahu and Ketu have additional special full aspects.

Mars aspects fourth and eight houses from its position.

Saturn aspects the third and tenth houses from its position.

Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu aspect the fifth and ninth houses from their

position.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards and Blessings,

Allen

I would like to highlight that -

There is no consensus on the graha drishti's of Rahu and Ketu as

they are only chaya grahas and not physical grahas. Some people

use graha drishti for Rahu only and none for Ketu with the logic

that Ketu does not have a head and hence no drishti.

Rahu and Ketu influence the grahas they are conjunct with and

the houses and lords of nakshatras they occupy.

Regards,

Krishna

Dear sbmaheta (?),

All planets, including Sun and Moon (but excluding the nodes), aspect the

7th house from their position - the house opposite. In addition to this,

Mars also aspects the 4th and 8th from himself; Jupiter further aspects 5th

and 9th from himself, whilst Saturn has further aspect on 3rd and 10th...

The table here http://jyotishvidya.com/nodes.htm was given in an earlier

mail.

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Re: Graha dristi

What about Sun and Moon, do they have aspect on any house or just their

own?

Dear Allen,

///Suffice to say that every worker must come to their own opinion on the

subject,///

Indeed, this is the point exactly :-)

Just taking the time to advise that, (even) amongst traditional astrologers

there are differing opinions in relation to nodal aspects, would help to

avoid misunderstandings.

I would think that, because it IS such a controversial topic, it would be

prudent perhaps just to add; " my opinion is " ...

Dear Wendy:

Yes, of course you are right that the Nodes having aspects is strongly

controversial and I should have footnoted that.

I would not go so far as to say all classical/traditional astrologers

do not hold this view. The Chaya Grahas are not physical planets that

is true, but are Dieties none the less.

BHPS 1

" 3-4. The unborn Lord has many incarnations. He has incarnated, as the

9 (Nava) Planets to bestow on the living beings the results due to

their 10ths. He is Janardana. He assumed the auspicious form of

Planets to destroy the demons (evil forces) and sustain the divine

beings. "

" 5-7. From Sun came the incarnation of Rama, from Moon that of

Krishna, from Mars that of Narasimha, from Mercury that of Buddha,

from Jupiter that of Vamana, from Venus that of Parashurama, from

Saturn that of Kurma (Tortoise), from Rahu that of Varaha (Pig) and

from Ketu that of Pisces (Fish) occurred. Incarnations other than

these also are through the Planets. The beings with more

Paramatm & #257; & #324; & #347;

are called divine beings. "

I was taught early in my studies by my first Jyotish guru, who was a

traditional astrologer and wore out many copies of the Brihat

Parashara Hora Sashtra by Maharishi Parashara, to use the special

aspects of the Nodes. I don't have the time or energy to explain in

full his teaching, or my examples of why I know they work. Maharishi

Parashara does not directly state this principle, but I believe it can

be inferred from careful reading, and then there are the oral

teachings from my Gurus.

Suffice to say that every worker must come to their own opinion on the

subject, so we must agree to disagree. I will return to lurking as I

don't wish to foster argument on the subject.

Best Regards and Blessings,

Allen
