PS: Just to be clear: PL does not give a one hour DST in a chart for Moscow

in August of 1961. And it does give the one hour for Moscow in August of

2007 for example. I have found PL to be correct on these changes for DST and

the years involved.

Kindest wishes,

Patrice

Hi SM,

I just tried it again, and did get Leo, you're right.

As I did this again now, I did not remove the check on Auto Lookup until

after giving the Moscow time zone. Then put in your co-ordinates again and

did come up with Leo. Having said that the Cancer chart was correct, sorry,

that would not be accurate at all.

In my experience, PL is very reliable software, and giving Moscow the time

zone of 3.00 should be correct, which would then put this correctly at a Leo

ascendant.

After taking your time with my error earlier - my apologies, I've now gone

to a web site for time zones, which gives the following for Moscow:

Moscow, Russia is in the Moscow Time Zone

Daylight Saving Time or Summer Time in Moscow, Russia begins on the last

Sunday in March at 2:00 am local time and ends on the last Sunday in October

at 3:00 am local time.

Moscow Russia uses these time zone codes

MSK = Moscow Standard Time = UTC (GMT) +3 hours

MSD = Moscow Summer Time = UTC (GMT) + 4 hours

According to this, the PL time zone of 3.00 is correct in Moscow Standard

Time, however this birth date in Aug. would fall in Summer Time, adding a

'1' in the DST. But unfortunately, I have no idea what the practice was for

this in 1961 at the time of this birth. Again, in my experience PL is

usually correct on this for the years calculated. To be sure you might have

to look further online and check resources for 1961 to see if Moscow, or the

town of his birth, was using DST.

I am unable to check right now as I'm running out the door, but will try to

look further later if you're unable to verify DST in Moscow, or Kaspiysk,

Russia, in August of 1961.

The results though for your original question is that the JHora with time

zone of 5.00 would be incorrect. I received the 5.00 as well here due to

removing the Auto Lookup too soon, and my local time here is 5.00 time zone.

Best wishes,

Patrice

Thank you Patrice,

I tried it again, I put Moscow and the Time Zone was still 3.00

giving me the same results with different co-ordinates.

I can manually modify to get Canc Asc but still will have the

question of which one is correct.

Thanks,

SM
