Guest guest
Respected Members, I have recently started reading about vedic astrology and trying to analyze my own chart. I would appreciate your kind help to understand if Jupiter Mahadasha is going to get me prosperous results for my hardwork or I will keep struggling throughout my life. My major concern is about getting a good job. Since I have recently moved to a new country and searching for a job. How to read if Jupiter is well placed or afflected? I could read that JUP is in my ninth house and throwing an aspect on 1st house (lagna house Aquarius), it is a freindly house for Jupiter. How is this going to effect? My DOB: 15-08-1970, POB- New Delhi, TOB-20:00hrs Other suggested reading materials about vedic astrology on the internet would be of great help. Guest guest
Dear PJ, In my opinion you cannot jump to vimshottari interpretations before having the janam kundli correctly sorted out. (in English: You cannot predict the effects of planetary periods before you first understand the role of the planet in your birth chart.) What is your understanding of Jupiter's role in your bith chart? Let's discuss that first. Guest guest
Dear Vic, Thanks for your response. With my limited knowledge, I could see that JUP is in the 9th house of my birth chart, house of LIBRA and hence Jup is in his enemy house. Since ninth house is related to father, luck, religion, spirituality and travel. I could interpret that I will have difficulty in all areas related to 9th house. This is purely my interpretation and it could be wrong. I am looking for an insight from an expert about the planetary position of Jupiter in my chart. I would appreciate if you could shed some light. Guest guest
Dear PJ, You have made a good first step. You identified that Jupiter is in Libra, which is Venus' house. And you say that Venus and Jupiter are enemies. You then jump the gun and draw a conclusion. You need to consider at LEAST the following factors. Answer these questions: What houses belong to Jupiter? What does a connection between those houses and the 9th house imply? Where is Venus? Is she under strong aspect or conjunction? Is Jupiter under strong aspect of conjunction? Answer those questions and you are still a little bit premature, but we can make a reasonably good judgement of what Jupiter represents. Guest guest
Dear Vic, Please find below my answers; 1. Jupiters influence it's own house and 5th, 7th and 9th house. Considering these facts, in my chart Jupiter's is influencing As house (Aquarius 1st House), Aries (3rd house) and Gemini (5th House). I tried to interpret but I am sorry I could not relate these houses to 9th house in my birth chart. Whereas I have read that 1st house represents Character and life purpose, 3rd house represents Creativity, courage, younger siblings and 5th house represents children and higher education. 2.Venus is in the eight house (Virgo), friends house. I don't see any stong aspect or conjuction from SAT,MARS or Jupiter. Again considering the basic principles that Mars influence it's own house and 4th, 7th and 8th. SAT influences 3rd, 7th and 10th. 3. I could see that Jupiter is under strong aspect of SAT (influencing 7th house) and MARS (influencing 4th house) That's all I could analyze with my limited knowledge. Guest guest
Dear PJ, > 1. Jupiters influence it's own house and 5th, 7th and 9th house. You are describing Jupiter's dhrishti or " aspect " or " influence. " That comes later. First figure out which houses Jupiter rules. Every planet owns 2 houses, except the sun and moon who own 1 each, and Rahu and Ketu who own none. You can find this info on the internet easily. At www.JyotishVidya.com, or in my own www.VedicAstrologer.net in the " Articles and Info " section. So when you see a planet in the house, say for example Jupiter in the 9th, and you want to know what that means - the first thing you should do is figure out which houses jupiter rules. You " rule " a house by owning the sign which builds the house. Thus if the sign of the 1st House is Sagittarius and the sign of the 4th House is Pisces, you can understand that Jupiter is the Lord or Ruler of Houses 1 and 4 (because jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces). So far so good? So now take a look at your chart, find out which houses are Sag and Pisces. Now you know which houses Jupiter " rules " . Your next step is to consider what the combination of the houses involved (the two that Jupiter rules and the 1 that he is occupying) might represent. I will give you suggestions when you find out which houses he rules. > 2.Venus is in the eight house (Virgo), friends house. Unless I'm experiencing the usual Vic-Airheadedness, if Jupiter is in the 9th and Venus is in the 8th it's IMPOSSIBLE that the two would be enemies. At worst they would be neutral. You must consider the COMPOSITE relationship, which is the sum of the planet's intrinsic dispoisitions towards one another plus the dispositions they gain by virtue of their relative positions in an individual horoscope. This is too advanced to go into right now. Let's concentrate on the first point, and suffice to say that Jupiter is NOT in an enemies house. PS - I could actually figure out which houses Jupiter owns without looking at your chart, just by knowing that the eighth house is virgo and the 9th is libra, but I want you to get practice doing it. If you have any guess how I could do this without looking at the chart, let me know! Guest guest
Dear PJ, In case your jupiter is palced in 9th an angle, being vishnu sthan is likely to endorse positive effects and results during dasa of jupiter/anatardasa/parana dasas.Ofcourse it certainly matters at what degrees in which sign jupiter is loacated in a natal chart to expect better results. Position of jupiter from sun, moon and lagna to matter for better understanding the results and the concerned affairs to expect positive deliverance. vrkrishnan --- On Tue, 7/8/08, Vic D <vicdicara wrote: Vic D <vicdicara Re: Effects Jupiter Mahadash and Antardasha jyotish-vidya Tuesday, July 8, 2008, 11:41 AM Dear PJ, In my opinion you cannot jump to vimshottari interpretations before having the janam kundli correctly sorted out. Guest guest
Dear Vic, Thank you for such a great clue. Now I have realized that JUP owns SAG and PISCES, SAT OWNS CAP and AQUA and so on. 1. This means in my chart 11th house and 2nd house is owned by JUP. So now I have to relate 9th house with 2nd and 11th house to see the effects of Jupiter. Am I right? 2. You are correct Venus and Jupiter are Neutral? Earlier I was refering to the " Planetary relationship by sign " and hence wrongly interpreting. 3. If I am reading and understanding well about vedic astrology, the only way you have figured out my birth chart is b'coz planets are placed in following order in vedic chart; Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricon and Aquarius Lot to learn...long way to go... Guest guest
Dear PJ, In astrology for a long time 1,4,7 and 10 r concerned they r considered as kendras and the tripod i.e lagna,5th and 9th most important for understanding Astrology are termed as konas/angles. Accordingly the lagna which is first house is always considered good along with lagna lord. How ever placements and dispositors have to be analysed. Along with that 5thand 9th ,other konas are always are auspicious and very good.Lords of these houses are considered as yoga karaks..The terminology as lakshmi ,vishnu sthans are in the traditional/conventional books and used for analysis purpose. Coming back to Jupiter in Thula 6.31 degrees is in chitta nakshatra 2nd quarter.Nakshtra lord for this is chitta. Now if we consider all these issues for analysis, results expected from jupiter palced in Thula may not give as expected and desired. But then out of the aspects mainly on lagna,3rd and on 5th will be benificial improving the effects of these bhavas.1st house being that of Kumbha, the native certainly prefers to be very conventional chooses to lay faith in ancient wisdom. Also less enthusiasm in material gains as the life progresses. A holistic approach is more suited for astrological considerations to come up with proper interpretations. vrkrishnan --- On Tue, 7/8/08, PJ <punk1530 wrote: PJ <punk1530 Re: Effects Jupiter Mahadash and Antardasha jyotish-vidya Tuesday, July 8, 2008, 11:32 PM Dear Krishnan, Thank you for such an intensive feedback about Jupiter (Guru). Guest guest
Dear PJ, > 9th house - father, luck, religion, spirituality and travel. > > 11th house - Career and Fame > > 2nd house - Wealth through Career and childhood I would change your description of the 11th House... I don't think you have an accurate core description of it. Think of the 11th house as the mirror of the 3rd house. The 3rd House is our basic desire - our basic impulses and desires regarding what we and to achieve. The 11th is the mirror (it's clear in a north indian style chart drawing), and represents the FULFILLMENT of those desires. Don't associate it *directly* with Career and Fame. Associate it with desire fulfillment: easy money, help from friends, natural influence over others. I would change your description of the 2nd House... remove " childhood " . The second house is the root of Artha. Thus it indicates wealth through your salary (regular steady income), day to day relations with family members, the food that you eat, and the knowledge you accumulate. Change the 9th House description and take out " spirituality " . Here are the beginnings of two interpretations: a) If the Lord of the 2nd is in the 9th we will start to think that there is a strong connection between faith and family, wealth and father, diet and religion, knowledge and guru, etc. b) If the Lord of the 11th is in the 9th we start to think that there is a strong connection between happiness and faith, friends and religion, easy money and father, etc. I'm sorry, which planet was it again? Jupiter? Next add that into the mix. Your next assignment: 1. Think of the planet's nature 2. Think of the nature of the house he is in (not just the house/bhava but also the sign/rashi). 3. Think of the nature and condition of the owner of the house he is in. 4. Come to a conclusion about the planet's disposition based on 1-3. 5. Combine this conclusion with (a) above. 6. Combine this conclusion with (b) above. 7. Combine 5 and 6. 8. Tell me what you got? Guest guest
Dear Vic, I was away for some time and now back to analyze the effects of Jupiter with your great help. I was wrong for 11th house description, actually it is oppurtunity, older sibling, friends. My answers to your questions; 1. Think of the planet's nature Ans: Jupiter signifies expansion, children, money, luck and wisdom > > 2. Think of the nature of the house he is in (not just the house/bhava > but also the sign/rashi). Ans: Jupiter is in the house of Libra. I could not figure out the nature of Libra, kindly help. > > 3. Think of the nature and condition of the owner of the house he is in. Ans: Do you mean condition of Venus because ruling planet of Libra is Venus? Venus is located in the house of Virgo (friends house). I guess venus is in good condition. > 4. Come to a conclusion about the planet's disposition based on 1-3. Ans: I could not conclude anything please help. > 5. Combine this conclusion with (a) above. > > 6. Combine this conclusion with (b) above. > > 7. Combine 5 and 6. > > 8. Tell me what you got? I hope to find my answers with your kind help in interpreting the position of Jupiter in my birth chart. OK give us your birthdata one more time and hopefully a few of us can give interpretations on what to expect in your Jupiter Mahadash, which you can then compare against your own homework in that regard.
