Guest guest
Dear SM, I just checked this in PL. - Am getting still getting the Cancer Asc in PL. PL did not give this city as an option so I entered Moscow for the time zone as correct time zone from what you've said below. PL gives this time zone as: 5.00. From there I entered the coordinates of longitude and latitude as per the numbers you've given. If these coordinates are correct, this should be the correct chart. Ascendant in Ashlesha. Best wishes, Patrice _____ Dear members, I was trying to create a horoscope in PL and JHora and i am getting two different results. I am not sure which is the correct one. Can anyone please help me recognize the correct one? Guest guest
Thank you Patrice, I tried it again, I put Moscow and the Time Zone was still 3.00 giving me the same results with different co-ordinates. I can manually modify to get Canc Asc but still will have the question of which one is correct. Guest guest
Hello Patrice, Since you know KP, You can take the Ruling planets and guide him to the right ascendant. You can also try J Hora to know the right co-ordinates, You can also search for the right co-ordinates on http://www.astro.com/atlas I am short of time, or else would have done this, without advising you. best regards, Bhaskar. jyotish-vidya , " Patrice Curry " <patricecurry wrote: > > Dear SM, > > > > I just checked this in PL. - Am getting still getting the Cancer Asc in PL. > > > > PL did not give this city as an option so I entered Moscow for the time zone > as correct time zone from what you've said below. Guest guest
Hi SM, I just tried it again, and did get Leo, you're right. As I did this again now, I did not remove the check on Auto Lookup until after giving the Moscow time zone. Then put in your co-ordinates again and did come up with Leo. Having said that the Cancer chart was correct, sorry, that would not be accurate at all. In my experience, PL is very reliable software, and giving Moscow the time zone of 3.00 should be correct, which would then put this correctly at a Leo ascendant. After taking your time with my error earlier - my apologies, I've now gone to a web site for time zones, which gives the following for Moscow: Moscow, Russia is in the Moscow Time Zone Daylight Saving Time or Summer Time in Moscow, Russia begins on the last Sunday in March at 2:00 am local time and ends on the last Sunday in October at 3:00 am local time. Moscow Russia uses these time zone codes MSK = Moscow Standard Time = UTC (GMT) +3 hours MSD = Moscow Summer Time = UTC (GMT) + 4 hours According to this, the PL time zone of 3.00 is correct in Moscow Standard Time, however this birth date in Aug. would fall in Summer Time, adding a '1' in the DST. But unfortunately, I have no idea what the practice was for this in 1961 at the time of this birth. Again, in my experience PL is usually correct on this for the years calculated. To be sure you might have to look further online and check resources for 1961 to see if Moscow, or the town of his birth, was using DST. I am unable to check right now as I'm running out the door, but will try to look further later if you're unable to verify DST in Moscow, or Kaspiysk, Russia, in August of 1961. The results though for your original question is that the JHora with time zone of 5.00 would be incorrect. I received the 5.00 as well here due to removing the Auto Lookup too soon, and my local time here is 5.00 time zone. Best wishes, Patrice _____ Thank you Patrice, I tried it again, I put Moscow and the Time Zone was still 3.00 giving me the same results with different co-ordinates. Guest guest
Dear Wendy, SM and List, Thank you Wendy for this. I need to update to PL 7 sometime soon ;-) Also, it would be wise to have a great 'old faithful' in paper and I will see if this one you have mentioned today and other times is still available. SM, thanks for sharing the information you found. PL is very good at this with the time zones.. Great that it worked out. Out of curiosity for how this all came together today, I just checked the transits wondering if Ketu would have some effect today in casting this chart. Interestingly the T Ascendant here - when I cast T chart - was exactly conjoined with TSaturn in 1H in Ketu's star, and exactly, exactly on my natal Ketu. In natives's chart TKetu is exactly on natal Rahu (again in Ketu's star) also in 1H. Moon, at the time of my casting chart, is in Ketu's star and sub. Although Neptune is not used in Jyotish, I use it in charts as I have found it of help to me. Lagnesh Sun in transit today is also less than 1 degree from TNeptune. In western astrology Neptune is famous for hidden things and the mystical. All of this is concerning transits SM, and for fun and curiosity regarding casting this chart - so don't take any of this to mean anything for this chart in general. Kindest wishes, Patrice _____ Dear Patrice, SM and All, According to my old faithful (Doris Chase Doane) 'Time Changes in the World' there was no DST for 1961... Therefore, i am assuming that the Time Zone of 3.00 is correct, hence the Leo ascendant. Let me know Patrice, if its otherwise../// Regards, SM .. <http://geo./serv?s=97359714/grpId=14388628/grpspId=1705082690/msgI d=7956/stime=1202770855/nc1=4507179/nc2=3848577/nc3=5170410>

Guest guest
Dear Patrice and Wendy, Good to see that someone is using Good old Doris Chase Doane's reference books but those books have more than a few times saved my bacon! Quite frankly (and I am taking a risk here as I did with KN Rao on one of the earlier jyotish lists! But I am too old a fossil and what do I care really!), I do not think one should worry too much about this vs that set of planets, as long as BASIC FUNDAMENTALS have been absorbed fully and tested to work!! If this latter is not done diligently, world shall witness yet another confused astrologer! Planets are there and did not create the different astrologies, whether we are talking about Western or Eastern or fine-dicing between Parashara or Jaimini or whatever! The Sun does not care if it is ruling as lagnesh (Parashara) or bhratrikaraka placed in fifth in budhaditya yoga! The brother will be taken care of as the nativity would have looked after its son/child. I will not go into this anymore. Stay with Neptune if it works well in your hands for afterall, planets do not have different hats, for the Parashara occasion, the Jaimini occasion or Tropical occasion! These diversions and compartments were created by humans! Sorry for long posting!
