Guest guest
It only depends on how the Asc and MC (Ascendent and Midheaven) are calculated. You need the time of day to calculate the Ascendent (Asc). In the US, we start with the local time where the person was actually born. That time gets converted to sidereal time, universal standard time, and GMT. I used to have the formula for calculating Asc and MC, it's a bit involved. It's not based on India's time in Roman or " western " astrology, and that is just different (mathematically) from Vedic astrology by a matter of degrees ( -25 degrees ahead in 2007) because of precession. We just use the local time; it is not based on the country of birth. You take the local time and convert it to GMT and sidereal time. You also need to know if DST was in effect for that place, for example on July 1, 1950 there was Daylight Savings Time in effect in the UK, so the time is 1 hour ahead of the real local time. You need to time zone in terms of hours (ie Los Angeles is 9 hours west, -9, and New York City is 5 hours west). That's what you start with. You also need the latitude and longitude of the place of birth. I do know if you use www.astro.com, Astrodienst has a program that calculates and draws the (wheel) form of the charts with just the local time of birth, and that's how i do my charts. I know their charts work based on the local birth time. I used to calculate some charts myself, but it's faster to use this just to generate the chart picture. vikas_asthana009 <vikas_asthana009 wrote: respected gurujans i have a samll query " if i want to examinee the horoscope (vedic) of a celebrity or any person born in some foreign country outside india then which time of birth i should consider ...... 1) universal time acc. to GMT 2) or LOCAL TIME at that place 3) time WITH RESPECT TO INDIA , TIME ACCORDING TO I.S.T. Guest guest
Would love to hear your views on parallax correction, at least of the moon. And the secondary lagnas as outlined in jyotish though not based on strict astronomical concordance -- hora etc. vedic astrology , Dennis Dixon <a_happy_fiction_writer wrote: > > It only depends on how the Asc and MC (Ascendent and Midheaven) are calculated.
