Thank you. Yes!!!! Can we have some elucidation on the word " bhava " ???? I am very familiar with the term as it is related to the 8th and penultimate stage of advancement in bhakti-yoga. That term is Bhaava (with a long first " a " ). It refers to the state in which bhakti *becomes a part of your being.* This is quite similar to what you are describing here about the Zodiac signs becoming an intrinsic part of the essential nature ( " bhava " ) of the divisions of the sky! Great! I feel like a zen satori moment here! I now understand what you mean and see the beauty in it! Thank you for taking the time to explain. (BTW - " rashis " - also an interesting correlation to the Bhakti-yoga term " raasa " ) > In the same way the navagrahas have re-created (at the moment of > birth). > Sun has recreated within us as our physical self, our ego etc; Moon > has > become our mind, Mars our energy and courage, Mercury our intellect, > Jupiter our compassion, Venus our capacity to give and receive love, > Saturn our grief...and so on. This is the act of creation I'm > referring > to. The grahas re-create each time a new entity is born... My family and I just watched Episode 3 of Cosmos (by Carl Sagan, I am a *huge* fan) in which Sagan tackled Astrology and followed astrological developments up till the time of Johanas Kepler. This episode made me want to write an article explaining WHY astrology works. WHY the planets in the sky should have an affect on our affairs on Earth. This is extremely interesting information in that regard! I am developing the thesis that The living entity generates Karma, and that God/Universe invests certain beings with the task of assuring that the correct karma is meted out to the correct individual at the correct time, with 4 billion karmic beings delicately inter-balanced. Now, this is helpful as to the HOW! Any further input you (others are also welcome) can give in this regard will be exceedingly helpful to correctly developing this article and concept. > Didn't you say you wrote for the " Back to Godhead " magazine? Yes! Coincidentally, after about 14 years, just three days ago I submitted a new article to them which is currently in review, called " Astrology, Karma & Freewill " - but I'm not too sure they'll accept it because (1) I am too maveric for organized religions ;-) and (2) They tend to want to keep their magazine exclusively bhakti-yoga oriented. But since I wrote the article with a strong bhakti slant I think it has potential. I'll let you know!!! Guest guest
BTW - I forgot to mention... what was extremely interesting in Episode 3 of Carl Sagan's Cosmos is that it was the retrograde movement of planets which confounded astronomers/astrologers for centuries, and which led Kepler through great frustration to finally realize that the observed movements of the planets could be perfectly explained using an ellipse orbital model (where a circle is enlogated with two centers of " focus " and the sun is at one of those focal points). Thus retrograde motion (particularly of mars) is what caused scientists to make a huge leap in their ability to accurately describe the astronomical situation. I just think it's fascinating, that's all! > Vic D <vicdicara > June 26, 2008 3:23:22 PM PDT > jyotish-vidya > Re-Creation of the Bhavas > >> The act of creation I'm referring to is the signs of the Zodiac >> that have >> now " become " the 12 bhavas...this is a profound transformation...no >> longer just zodiac signs.
