Ascendant - position of strength or weakness ?

Dear Friends ,

 

I have been reading various books on astrology and it seems to me that many

of these emphasize the weaknesses of an ascendant to be coming from the

ascendant sign itself . For example an Aries is cautioned against injury to

head , a Taurean is said to have problems with throat infections etc . Why

this should be so when generally sixth house is regarded as house of

diseases ? Is ascendant the position of strength or weakness ?

Dear AK Ghurye,

 

If I am not mistaken, you are one of the writers on

articles on either KP Magazine or Starteller. Then

I fail to understand why you ask this simple question,

the answer of which, you must be knowing already.

 

Anyways- The Ascendant represents the person himself

-the physical body.The ascendant represents the sensitive

areas if the same is weak,from birth itself,

translated in the physical body.

The 6th house represents the probable areas of disturbance,

in future course of the Life,which can be amended to a certain

extent, by caution, or made worse by indulgence.

 

Rahu in Aries would naturally give a person with a scar in the

forehead,while his 6th- the stomache would be the sensitive area,

either the native spoil it by eating roadside junk, or keep it in

control by eating home made food etc.etc.

As Bhaskar has pointed out...

Lagna governs the physical body and one's basic constitution (prikriti)

whilst 6th relates to diseases (ill-health) in general which can come and go

throughout the course of one's life...often as a result of poor digestion,

poor diet, unhealthy appetite, poor hygeine and so forth (natural

significations of 6th) which can make one overly susceptible to common

viruses and infections.

8th house, of course, indicates diseases that are long-lasting (chronic)

and/or requiring surgical intervention etc..

As we know, the part of the body represented by the sign/bhava can be

afflicted if it's occupied by a malefic...this applies to transits as well,

so problems can be intermittent.

 

According to the sages, Aries governs head, brain, forehead, whilst Taurus

governs face, neck (throat etc). It stands to reason therefore that, if

Lagna is afflicted, the part governed by that particular Rasi will reflect

this. Capricorns for instance, are often prone to problems with the

knees...and so forth.
