Guest guest
Dear Group, I recently received a mail from atma_gnan regarding the much touted Guru Chandala Yoga. His mail didn't reach the list due to its derogative content. However, I continue to be alarmed at the amount of people who judge this combination without any regard to the condition of Guru/Rahu (avasthas)... Do people ever read the classics, I wonder? Or, if they do, do they understand the essence of the sastras? Kalidasa (Uttara Kalamrita) is only one of the many sages who state such things as: " Though Rahu and Ketu are malefics, they become benefics by their position or by their association with certain planets " It's important to judge the avastha (condition) of all the planets before making a judgement on any yoga. Also, in regard to Rahu aspects, it's perhaps wise to take note of the fact that although there are certain avasthas that state a planet is harmed when conjoined a Node (or Saturn or Mars), these same group of avasthas do not even assign Rahu and Ketu an aspectual value in virupas as they are shadow planets, not planets with a form (avasthas are ways to measure planetary strength). In the classics Rahu and Ketu are mainly ignored in this way. No doubt the planets aspect/affect the houses occupied by the nodes (obvious logic) but not the other way around. Things are somewhat different in the Jaimini system, of course, as it incorporates rasi dristi rather than the (Parashara) graha dristi. Guest guest
Dear Mrs. Wendy, I understood with my limited knowledge that in case of Guru Rahu or Rahu Moon or any such combination, Rahu would acquire the benefic qualities from the Planet it is conjoined with, and the other planet would become afflicted due to its joining with Rahu and loose its beneficess to some extent, and acquire a shade of some dark spot. Is this true what I have mentioned in a laymans words? I mean there would always be some unfaithfulness or unsurety with regards to the bnefic results coming from the Planet which is conjoined with Rahu. It would spoil the nature of the planet conjoined with while itself acquiring the malefic or benefic naature of that Planet and becoming unpredictable. Is this right about Rahu ? Yours sincerely, bhaskar. jyotish-vidya , " Wendy Vasicek " <jyotish wrote: > > Dear Group, > > I recently received a mail from atma_gnan regarding the much touted Guru > Chandala Yoga. Guest guest
Dear Bhaskar, The following link should make things a little clearer :-) http://jyotishvidya.com/rahu.htm The whole point is the avasthas, i.e. a weak Jupiter would not be able to sway the demon Rahu but would himself be overcome. We also need to remember the influence of nakshatra lord etc, etc.. Each yoga needs to be judged on its own merits. Guest guest
Dear Neena, So good to hear from you again :-) Best Wishes, Mrs. Wendy http://JyotishVidya.com jyotish-vidya ___ - " neenako " <neenako <jyotish-vidya > Friday, April 20, 2007 9:39 PM Re: Rahu Avasthas Dear Wendy, Its after a very long time that I am posting this , though off and on I have been trying to keep up with the posts . You are right. No combination should be discarded as outright bad nor extolled as exceptionally good without taking into consideration the avasthas, aspects , placement etc. Our books give a general description of the yogas and it is upto the astrologer to understand and apply the same to any horoscope. This is where experience, study and research play their important part. Rahu, in many cases acts as a benefic and Jupiter can act as a malefic. I hope to come back to this topic at a later date. Right now I am between visits to the doc and hospital. So if you don't hear from me for some time , please excuse me. Regards and best wishes, Neena
