Guest guest
Namaste Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas are the three qualities that exist in everything in the world. In simple terms, Sattwa is associated with purity and clarity. Rajas with desire and Tamas with indolence. All objects would have all three qualities. Some would have more of Sattwa, some more of Rajas and some more of Tamas. Colors can be sattwa, rajas and tamas. White, Yellow is considered Sattwic. Red as Rajasic tending towards Sattwa. Brown, Black are considered Tamasic. Clarity and Colour in gemstones usually defines whether the gemstone is predominantly Sattwic, Rajasic or Tamasic. Every gemstone will have all three qualities but in different proportions. However, one of important factors is usually missed out in determining a gemstone as Sattwic, Rajasic or Tamasic. Every gem goes through a process of mining, cleaning, polishing, etc.... each of these processes are lead by human beings and its machines. Each of these elements alter the Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas. The vibes of the miner, numerous gem dealers also cause subtle changes on how the gem will act. Each gem is different. Even two gems of the same type, color and carat, are likely to have different results. I would also bring your notice to the story of the infamous Hope Diamond. You can view it here: http://www.si.edu/siphotos/science-nature/HOPE.GIF It is one of the largest diamonds in the world and one of the finest too. Initially it weighed 112 carats but the existing piece weighs 47 carats. It would appear to most as one of the Sattwic gemstones. It is VS1 clarity, beautiful grayish blue color. VS1 clarity is eyeclean. This would by the color and clarity be called a Sattwic gem. However, whosoever possessed this Diamond was destroyed. Read its story over here http://www.paranormality.com/hope_diamond.shtml It is considered to have been stolen by Lord Vishnu's Idol. This rendered the gemstone extremely dangerous for any individual. Lord's worship and prayer goes a huge way in changing the Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas of Objects like gemstones. Sri Ramakrisha saw Ma, where people saw idols. I take gemstones as " Abhushan " for Ma Durga, which were made by Dev Vishwakarma (ref: Durga Saptshati). Prayers to the lord (Ma) are essential to wear the same to make these gemstones act favorable to us. Ma Shakti is all pervasive. She is the expression of the Lord and not separate. The entirety resides in her. There is nothing beyond her. As Mahamaya she uses Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas to bind us. To call some gemstone as " Dead " , since it is unclear or a bad color, is calling Ma Shakti as " dead " . Unclear gemstones, tumbled gemstones, also have Ma's energy and it is not right to defile them or call them such names. Many astrologers, crystal healers and others are using so called " Tamasic " Gemstones and reaping " Sattwic " results. So, worship of the Lord is important in using the energy of the gemstone positively towards oneself. This is the most important factor in determining the Sattwa of the gemstone. Mostly forgotten.
