Dear Vic,

Forwarding this on to the group as (I'm assuming) it's been sent to my

mailbox in error?

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Conflicting Vimshottari Dasa Calculations

Taking native (me) as July 27, 1970 19:38 Islip NY

Calculating by hand, I get Jupiter's Mahadasha from Jan 24, 2005-Nov

1st 2020

Calculating by computer (IndAstro) I get Jupiters Mahadash from April

6 2004 - April 6, 2020

Can anyone confirm either, and explain? I think by hand is more

accurate personally.

THANKS!

- Vic

Dear Vic,

It's been many long years since I've calculated a chart by hand, and I

admit freely that I've become quite lazy in this regard...relying solely

on my software (Parashara's Light 7.0). I have found this to be extremely

reliable. According to PL your Jupiter MahaDasa runs from Apr 3, 2004 -

Apr 3, 2020 (which is 16 yrs; the length of Jupiter dasa.)

According to your calculations (Jan 24, 2005-Nov 1st 2020) Jupiter dasa

is only 15yrs, 9mths, 07days.?

Best Wishes,

Mrs. Wendy

Dear Vic,

Length of year for calculating Vimsottari dasa is 365.25.

Shyamasundara Dasa has kindly allowed JyotishVidya to publish the

following article on this matter...have you read it?
