Guest guest
On purity ... while taking a break from Jyotish, may I offer these words ..? I hope I am not breaking some rule by posting these two examples of " worse " here .... THE PRICE OF PURITY ============= By Rohiniranjan Lotuses are clean and so very pure growing in the slimy mud around them yet remaining untouched We hold these in our hearts as symbols of purity; of those that stay spiritual amidst the dross of materialism. Lying near my favorite pond watching the pink beautiful flower inhaling its intoxicating fragrance fleeting in a flash the thought occurs. A lotus lily if I were clean, untouched and innocent how would I be feeling now surrounded by the stench of the pond all around me? Lonely for sure only me here, of my kind while temptations reach in and bind through chinks in my armor, so many, so easy to find If only we knew of, those tears of loneliness; that lie behind the scent that defines -- the lotus of purity <<written some 15 years ago and the following written last year!>> IN LIGHTER VEIN =============== If poetry must startle and awaken through expletives alone It should have been called " worse " If aggression is the only way that remains for attracting attention Humanity soon may be reduced to a memory hardly of note or mention Insecurity projected elsewhere is a stone 'cast' recklessly... Preuming that the storm shall ne'er return to take down our very own erect mast! Not much sweetness around, today, sadly in God's blue and white world... But judging it all from a 'distant', detached point of pointless purity Creates yet another dream waiting to assume the persona of an interpretor Or a footprint on the sands of time, that may well be a mirage ... Or soon shall become when the WAVE returns ashore to reclaim its pound of SAND! If thoughts and beliefs are what CAN create and raise a REALITY Then it does make sense to focus on Beauty and not the Beast It takes practice, it takes love but is that anything new ... ? Ask any new mother, or even a grandmother, Who still retains Her LOVE for ALL children, intact! Respectfully submitted to august readership... Guest guest
Dear Rohini That is a nice poem. For a moment I was lying near the lotus pond enjoying the fragrance. Loneliness is divine. Guest guest
You are so kind, Savithri :-) Sadly, I do not know Tamil, but the word fragments NIDHI and EKANATAM I understand from familiarity with Hindi and a bit of sanskrit. However, I choose to distinguish between being alone and loneliness :- ) The way God created human beings, they may be alone but never meant to be lonely (its sad and undesirable connotation!) -- for they always have themselves! I suppose a bit of 'loving oneself' helps too :-) jyotish-vidya , SAVITHRI MAHESH <savithri_mahesh2000 wrote: > > Dear Rohini > > That is a nice poem.
