Guest guest
OHM SREE MAATA Dear Talele, I will send you some articles to work on Retrograde Planets. I am doing the same and it is intresting to analyse. Take your time and let it work in your mind. Job Retrograde Vakra Anurag Sharma. Vakri grahas has strong determination (chesta bala). They promise something gives abilities and hopes but opportunites are lacking. Therefore this promise makes one strive hard to get the results. Graha is three times stronger and delay/denial bring suffering, if this is connected to lagna/ak/lagnesh then one has very strong determination and will not give up. Regards, Learned Members, There have been queries recently regarding the phenomenon of retrogression/ Vakratwa of Grahas. Some of these have been in independent threads while others have been intertwined with miscellaneous discussions. On one of these Lists, Shri Rohini Ranjan referred one of the querents to an article written by him in the past on this subject. It will be a good idea to visit this article as it furnishes some personal insights and views of the learned author on the subject. The link is available at the Vedic Astrology List in the relevant thread. Some of my thoughts on the subject are laid down here in below. These are only observations but they are sincere observations made with scholarly intent. In a recent article on Prashna, Pt. Sanjay Rath taught that the energy of the retrograde planet is that of a 'Bhupa' or king. This is a good point to start with. It echoes the classical sentiment, as recorded by Shri Rohini Ranjan in the aforesaid article as well, that the retrograde planet is full of energy or 'Chestabal'. It has a lot of energy for Cheshta or for effort. Therefore, it is a powerful planet. Now, it is also said that retrograde planets delay things they affect in life. Pt. Rath has also stated that the results linked with the retrograde planet may even be denied till the planet turns direct in transit. Somewhere Pt. Rath gave the example of King Bruce and the spider indicating that the areas associated with the retrograde planet require persistent and ceaseless effort. The idea here is that the retrograde planet gives conventional struggle and will delay things. In my view, while I agree that the retrograde planet will delay, it is important to not view the retrograde planet pejoratively, especially if it is a benefic. It is usually thought that due to the increase in power, the benefic planet becomes more benefic and the malefic planet becomes more malefic. In other words, the planet becomes more powerful to do what it wants to do. What is the nature of this 'delay'? Why is a given Vakri planet in a chart delaying something? Is a Vakri planet necessarily mischievous or adverse that it wants to torment the native with delay? Not really. As always, the person, or a given life, is to be evaluated from the entire chart. A life theme is to be gleaned. See the AK, Yogas, Dashas, special Dashas, Vargas...everything to see what this 'power' or 'intesity' or 'delay' is all about. Is it to hone some skill not fully developed in past lives? When Rohini Ji says, there is some internalising effect due to retrogression, it can be gleaned, especially in charts of contemplative people. With retrograde planets in the nativity, it might be especially prudent to look for unusual factors that may point at delay in certain areas, even apart from the retrograde planet. It is important to see why a planet, especially a benefic has turned retrograde. The retrograde planet is unusual. It touches areas that are not usually touched. It is a path-breaker. It is only in this quality of breaking barriers that it is like Rahu. I do not think that a powerful and retrograde benefic will become malefic like Rahu. See the Amsha rulers of the retrograde planet in Vargas to see what sort of activity it is going to contribute to and whether it is a 'good' unusual or a 'bad' unusual. Not to say that 'good' and 'bad' are so cut-and-dried. Look at the chart of Morarji Desai, discussed in Pt. Sanjay Rath's Collected Papers in Vedic Astrology-Vol. 1. (February 29, 1896; 13:38:00, 4:51 east;72 E 56, 20 N 38). Both the 9th and 10th Lords are retrograde in their exaltation signs giving effects of debility! This is the chart of a very accomplished person. The 10th Lord is retrograde in its exaltation sign and in the 2nd House of resources, a houses that otherwise is a participant in Simhasan Yogas. Also, the 9th Lord of luck is retrograde in the 5th House of power in its exaltation sign! Yet, the native achieved a great degree of poilitical prowess. Of course, the fructification of life potential is seen in the Maharaja Yoga etc but as far as the Vakratwa of two crucial planets goes, even their effects of debility did not hinder rising to one of the highest offices of the land. Thus, retrogression or any other single factor are just that, singular factors, that have to be studied in the overall context of the charts. Regards, Anurag Sharma. Guest guest
OHM SREE MAATA Dear Talele, Retrogression Visti¡¯s answer on February 7th, 2007 by Visti Larsen Published on the Srijagannath forum. Dear Ramesh, NamaskarThis is aiming towards a more advanced understanding of retrogression. Consider this to be NEXT level of understanding of the topic. When we go deeper into retrogression we can no longer settle with simply recognizing two motions of planets, namely Direct vs. Retrograde, but must now consider THREE motions namely:Direct - Chara (rajasic state)Stationary - dvisvabhava (sattvic state)Retrograde - sthira (tamasic state)Here we are taught in the tradition that the stationary position is a state of recharging, where the nature of the planets will indicate whether they are 1) meditating (sattvic grahas); 2) scheming (rajasic grahas); 3) sleeping (tamasic grahas). Naturally not all the planets can achieve these three states, and hence we are talking of five grahas namely:Sattvic: Jupiter.Rajasic: Mercury and Venus.Tamasic: Saturn and Mars. Here the initial direct motion of the grahas shows them moving towards achieving their desires, and when they gradually slow down towards stationary they begin to loose their energy and whichever yogas associated with them, until they become completely helpless/inactive when in stationary itself.Having come out of the stationary position and begin their retrogression they are all eager to achieve their desires with new found strength, however, the tamasic grahas coming out of their slumber can be utterly destructive and can completely devastate their house position due to the intense anger/sorrow they have suffered from loosing their abilities during their stationary position. As a result the worst placement for tamasic grahas during their retrogression is i) their own sign and ii) exaltation.Hence, such a position of a tamasic graha should not be in kendra or trikona as they will devastate their signs position. So we can infer: a retrograde malefic/tamasic graha is like a curse when in own sign/exaltation and in the beneficial houses i.e. kendra and trikona, as it completely devastates these houses. Whereas his placement in dusthana when in own sign/exaltation will act like a vipareet raja yoga and destroy enemies.Opposite will happen in his debilitation sign. Example 1: Sri Rama (Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn in exaltation; Moon and Lagna in Cancer; Mercury in Taurus; Rahu and Ketu in Sagittarius and Gemini respectively) In the chart of Sri Rama Saturn is opposite the Sun and must thus be retrograde. Saturn is in his exaltation sign in a kendra which is a very negative position and will devastate the fourth house indications. When the Moola Dasa of Saturn began Sri Rama was exiled from his home (fourth house) due to the actions of a step mother (fourth house - Saturn). Example 2: Sri Ramakrishna ParamahamsaFebruary 18, 1836Time: 6:23:27Time Zone: 5:50:56 (East of GMT)Place: 87 E 44¡ä 00¡å, 22 N 53¡ä 00¡å Aquarius is the Lagna and three planets viz. Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury are retrograde. Among these Saturn is retrograde in the ninth house in exaltation. Whilst Saturn and Jupiter both associated wit the ninth house indicating blessings after joining a spiritual lineage, the position of Saturn being retro and exalted brings a negative influence on the ninth house. The effects of poverty, hunger, etc. and all the amenities of the lifestyle of an ascetic are indicated. However, Saturn is the lagna lord and indicates that HE chose this lifestyle, and thus a real tapasvi is born from this yoga. Now, a benefic planet be it sattvic or rajasic will carry somewhat different characteristics. The sattvic Jupiter is like a sage coming out of meditation and is eager to bless the world with mantras, knowledge, etc. As a result he is in a very giving mood and if he is placed in his sign of debilitation there is NO GIVING as he has nothing to give. Yes, he is aiming towards exaltation as that is his desire, but how much of this can he give?Similarly the rajasic planets are aiming towards growth and prosperity, but without money (debilitation) how will they grow? Hence when a BENEFIC is retrograde, then his placement in debilitation is ONLY auspicious when in Dusthana. Otherwise in kendra or trikona he will act like a curse.Opposite will happen in the exaltation sign. Example 3: Insanity Case - VRAAugust 10, 1949Time: 9:01:12Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East of GMT)Place: 85 E 50¡ä 00¡å, 20 N 30¡ä 00¡å The lagna is Virgo and Jupiter is retrograde in the chart. Jupiter is placed in the fifth house in debilitation thus indicating a terrible durbhagya from past life. This is substantiated by Jupiter being afflicted by Sun and Mars (fire/burning), as Jupiters vargottama placement indicates that it will affect the first house adversely where health, intelligence will suffer as a result. This happens in the fifth house of mantra and bhakti and can show wrong mantras/thoughts guiding the native and leading towards the problem. This is especially so with Jupiter being badhakesh placed here as a severe pisacha badhak and sarpa dosha exists in the chart. The native dabbled in black magic and some of the darker tantric practices, which resulted in him loosing his mental balance after an accident involving the burning down of a building, he developed scizophrenia. Now, there is more to consider here such as the INTENSITY of the retrogression, as a planet who is ending his retrogression has his desires fulfilled and will not be as destructive, whilst one who has just begun is full of energy and desires. I will leave this aspect of the discussion to a future publication. Yours sincerely,¨CVisti Larsen Fri, 9 Mar 2007 22:13:20 -0800vedic astrology: talele: Sat, 10 Mar 2007 06:13:00 +0000[vedic astrology] Planets retrograde- How do astrologer take??? Guest guest
Dear Members: A retrograde planet attains " Cheshta bala " - one of the six sources of shadbala of a planet. Even a debilitated planet in retrograde motion will attain strength by virtue of its retrograde motion. Actually retrograde planets indicate past life imprints regarding that sector of life indicated by the planet concerned. Apart from the above, retrograde planets indicate certain special tendencies in the natives concerned. I am listing that below: Mercury retrograde in the natal chart indicates that the native may be highly introspective (to the extent that the native may have full- blown conversations or discussions with an alter-ego within themselves in certain cases; this is not a psychopathic condition but a case of hyper-developed conscience or inner voice!). These individuals frequently talk to themselves within themselves and can motivate themselves. They show unusual intelligence with numbers. Jupiter retrograde gives indomitable will power to a native. " Mission impossible " churns them on to challenge; they are born to take on tasks that others will find unappealing. This is the sign of a potential crusader who dares to differ and chalk his own path in life. Challenges spur them on. They succeed where others fail usually. An entrepreneur who buys a sick unit and dramatically turns it around to a winning combination within years probably will have retrograde Jupiter in natal chart. Venus retrograde gives unusual or eccentric tastes for an individual. They have unique preferences especially in romantic matters. Mars retrograde signifies the warrior with a never-say-die attitude. They possess wonderful equanimity of mind even though their outer expressions may betray their powerful emotions. This is a potentially advantageous planetary motion for a General or a surgeon who have to take instant decisions within specified time without any tremblings of the heart to spoil their calculations. Saturn retrograde gives a loner attitude. Though the person may seem to be outwardly gregarious, they live a life for themselves within themselves. If other indications in the chart support it, these persons become ascetics in later life having understood the futility of this material existence. Apart from this, if an astrologer wants to know the effects of Sun or Moon retrograde......what should you conclude?......THE ASTROLOGER HAS TO GET HIS BASICS IN ASTRONOMY STRONG because the luminaries Sun and Moon have no retrograde motion as the placement of planets with respect to the Sun only cause this apparent phenomenon called retrograde motion. Moon being a reflection of Sun is never retrograde. The nodes are always retrograde! Blessed be. Pandit R.DAKSHINAMOORTHI. vedic astrology , " Smt. But AD of Venus in other MD is fairly good. My DOB is 20.11.1962, POB Is Hyderabad (INdia)TOB is 4.19mts(early morning. Hope this is useful for your analysis. Guest guest
Satyam Bruyat Priyam Bruyat Dear Shri Dakshinamoorthi, Can you please enlighten us on your views on retrograde planets that are debilitated or exalted? thanks Ramesh dakshinastrologer Sent by: vedic astrology 03/11/2007 09:29 AM Please respond to vedic astrology To vedic astrology cc Subject [vedic astrology] Re: Planets retrograde- How do astrologer take??? Guest guest
Hi! I have been battling for a long time with the concept of retrograde planets. I have heard that benefic planets gain strength if retrograde, but malefics become more malefic. I am presently studying a chart with both Venus and Jupiter retro. Will Venus retro cause exessive sex desire or no sex desire? Delay in marriage/ no marriage? Could Jupiter retro cause delay in education / intelligence? It will depend on the houses involved etc. but there must be some general effects..... Thanks Ila Pram Chopra <pramchopra1964 wrote: Dear murli Now look yourself and analyse Jupiter is in 5th as a lord of 6th as u know the 6th house is house of diseases and in 5th house making 12th position which makes separation from academic learning. Guest guest
whenever a planet retrogrades it will be closer to earth and very much away from sun. Hence the effect of retro planet on earth will be very high. The exalted plenet also will be closer to earth when it is exalted. Therefore the retro planet will behave like an exalted planet. Guest guest
dear Ila, U can judge from the charts where planets(beneficial) are retrograde, has it functioned like exalted planets. I doubt very much, because my chart has beneficial planets in retrogression, so in that mahadasa there wasnt any big windfall. I have to say that it has not done great harm. good luck, k.gopu ______________________________\ ____ Get your own web address. Guest guest
Respected Pandit Dakshinamoorthiji, Thanks for this very enlightening clarification. Would Mars retro native be more or less angry than a direct mars in the same house and sign (let's say in Aries). Would it be that this native has a deep anger but delays expressing it? Guest guest
Dear Member: You have got it right. People with Mars retrograde in their horoscopes tend to delay expression of anger but the feelings of resentment are deep within. Then when they finally explode, the fireworks are to be seen to be believed! Generally persons with Mars retrograde tend to have an innate aggressive instinct that can be masked only to a certain extent however cultured and sophisticated they are. The power of their anger has an almost electric character stupefying and transfixing those who experience it! Luckily most of these natives can be taught to control the expression of that anger, and in such cases they will seem to be quite harmless on most occasions. However, the energy is lurking just beneath the surface of icy cool, ready to come to the aid of the native if situations demand that. A person who rather goes after the throat of his/ her would=be assailant rather than negotiate in the face of a loaded gun is more likely to have a retrograde Mars. I know of an incidence concerning a Mars retrograde native (he was born in Mesha lagna with Mars in the 3rd house retrograde). Typically, he is of a gentle and smiling countenance. But on 3 or 4 occasions when his life was in danger from hired thugs, the transformation was astounding. It is really a sight to see hired rowdy elements with Guns in hands running for their lives with fear absolutely palpable on their faces after receiving the treatment from our friend! He was not afraid even after he was surrounded by 4 of them with guns in their hands. He did not waste time negotiating or looking for help around; he just went for it so much that they had to run. Of course, he was trained in martial arts and did regular exercises, etc. But for a normal person living a peaceful life to react like that in the face of threat WITHOUT ANY TRACE OF FEAR and on the contrary taking the battle to the enemy's terrain so to say is really typical of retrograde Mars in the vikrama sthaanaa is it not? This person otherwise is a very genial type. I have noted another thing also with that person. He is capable of writing with a stinging wit if he is upset with somebody. (Mars retrograde in the 3rd house indicating communications). You can also combine the house lordship and placement of retrograde Mars and analyze how these natives behave for your learning purposes. In fact, this goes true for almost all retrograde planets. You will find a definite pattern. We can say that the " retrograde planets express their unique qualities in activities concerned/ governed by the house in which they are placed and the expression carries the stamp of the house over which they rule. Guest guest
i have read different veiws on this. question is about the drishti or aspect of retrograde planets. should we take clock wise or anti clock wise aspects. and one more thing what about the aspects of stationary planets. i have read that a stationary planet has more power than forward moving planet and retrograde planet. is it true? if a planet is stationary in chart before moving retrograde then how we will take it's aspects? clock wise or anti clockwise? please help me to understand. thanks in advance cheers Balkrishna Talele On 3/17/07, Ramanathan Balaji <vaideeswarr wrote: > > Respected sir, > > Sir whether we can see the same pattern of bahaviour of the native who has > Debilitated mars in 3rd .i.e for Asc taurus, mars in cancer? > > Ramanathan Balaji > > dakshinastrologer <dakshinastrologer<dakshinastrologer%40.co.in>> > wrote: > Dear Member: > > You have got it right. > > People with Mars retrograde in their horoscopes tend to delay > expression of anger but the feelings of resentment are deep within. > Then when they finally explode, the fireworks are to be seen to be > believed! > > Generally persons with Mars retrograde tend to have an innate > aggressive instinct that can be masked only to a certain extent > however cultured and sophisticated they are. > > The power of their anger has an almost electric character stupefying > and transfixing those who experience it! Guest guest
||Jai Ramakrishna|| Dear Balakrishna, Few information for your knowledge:- 1)Retrogression is an apparent phenomenon...not real. 2)A retro planet gets Chesta bala...which means it has effort to give result or is potential to give result. 3)Classics often give some results for Retro planets...however, those are not true always. 4)Santhanam said that retro planets in chart show that it was the deficiency of the Natural karakatwa in past birth...if Mars is retro, then that person had the thirst for supremacy in past birth, for example. 5) i have seen, retro planets tend to give good results, if aspected by a natural benefic. You can try this. Guest guest
dear frends retrograde planets always hard nut to understand, as mentioned by gurujans, i do agree when a planet is retro it gets chesta bala, chesta means attempts , hence retro planets makes natives to take more than one attempt to finish task. if there is retro planets in 7th house or 7th lord being retro it take more than one attempt for marriage. he gets alliances but get dropped. if 4th lord is retro he may take more than one attempt to construct his house , may applicabe to his eductaion where he may change his course selected. similarly it is aplicable to 12 bhava lords.. important is if lagna lord is retro person may have difficulty in taking right decesions, or his social status will be keep ocilating. retro planets lacks stability hence results pertaing to it is similar like wise in horoscope where there is more than one planet retro, we may see unstability to higher extent dasha anater dasha of rahu/ketu and retro planets and vice versa may triggers things ..quite amazingly we have to take into consederation in which constellation it is placed , if it is placed in chara/ugra rasi or nakshtaras again that add ups where as its placement in soumya nakshatra/rashi can be toularable. and this is important in analyzing rajyoga and other combinations to time dasa anaterdasha results retro planet may not need support of mars or sun in transist to trigger event where as non retro planet. always results are felt in transist speacially when planet get retro or rahu ketu change sign where in other case event occurs a bit late till either mars or sun activates the event but if retro planet is aspected by jupiter or venus it tends to calm down a bit but still has tint of retro effects.. mars is planet of action hence PAC of mars and retro planet may be additive while satrun may be minimizing. we have noticed effect of retro mars and retro satrun, both the planets are quite opposite in tatva and gunas. hence easily reflected where as jupiter venus and mercurian effect is lesser seen, and takes times to feel retro effect. Guest guest
dear frend astrology is like a wagan which runs on multiple wheels. we need other details too. randem answers tends to be wrong still if satrun is strong by shadbala then there might have been troubles in her higher studies, might have delay in progeny or might have changed her mind with respect to pregnency. first child may be bit lazy might be female birth etc she may have altered view for grandfather, mother etc just an attempt ( have taken help of prashna) regards rajeev vedic astrology , " tnj_painting " <tnj_painting wrote: > > what about the saturn place in Kumbha Rasi and it is mooltrikona > sign and the lagna is Thula rasi. the saturn is retrogate in kumbha > rasi it is 5 th bhava from Thula lagna...
