In any science only that rule is authentic whose appliction level is 100% but in astrology we take that a rule is authentic in case application level is 70%. But i am sorry to write the method you have suggested applies in very rare cases say upto 30% hence authencity/validity of rule stands defunct. in case you are interested i can send you nearly 100 horoscopic details where this rule fails. Jupiter stays in the same sign for a year, Saturn for two and a half years. If some study showed 60% or 40% this would be strong evidence to prove astrology is valid. I personally believe astrology is valid and man has yet to learn the exact rules that don't change over time.
