Guest guest
This was a rather foolsih thing to do. If he had been spiritual he would have gone to Vrndava or some other holy tirtha to prepare for death. But suicide will condemn him to being a Preta or other such ghostly existence _______ Chennai astrologer foresees death, commits suicide Wednesday January 19 2005 00:00 IST CHENNAI: K. Parthasarathy, a famous city astrologer, committed suicide early on Monday because as per his astrology he would have died on January 21. He therefore hanged himself to death, instead of waiting for death to come. The astrologer, who lived Thulasinga Perumal Koil Street in Triplicane, was 60 years old and was consulted by VIPs, politicians, actors and actresses for several decades. He was famous not only in Tamil Nadu but the entire world. Dignitaries used to come to his house from all parts of the world for consultation. He was bestowed the title of ‘Jyotida Thilagam’ because of his scholarship and social standing. According to the police, he hanged himself from the ceiling fan hook in his house on Monday around 5 a.m. His wife Hema on getting up from the bed saw him hanging and broke down. On hearing her cries, Parthasarathy's mother Pattammal, daughter Surabhi and son-in-law Nandakumar rushed to the scene to see what had happened. They were also moved by the extreme step taken by the astrologer. The Ice House police station was immediately informed about the incident. Sub-inspector Vijayapandian recovered a suicide note in English from the room. The astrologer had written in the note that he was about to die on January 21. When he was sleeping in the bedroom on the second floor of the building, he had severe chest pain.” Holding my chest due to crucial pain, I climbed down the staircase and came to the first floor. I did not want to disturb my wife, daughter and son-in-law who were sleeping there.” “I propose to use my upper cloth and hang myself to death since I am about to die in just another four days. Since I am going to die in a short while, I would like convey my best wishes to my dear wife, daughter and son-in-law,” Parthasarathy concluded his touchy note. After making preliminary enquiries, the police sent the body to Royapettah General Hospital for post-mortem. The body was later handed over to the relatives. The astrologer was cremated in the Besant Nagar crematorium as per his last wish.
