Guest guest
Namaste Sunil A small visit into Astronomy would reveal that the Nakshtras are of different lengths in arc. Some are single stars while others are groups. The practical problem is how do we find out the arc of influence of the stars and not the arc of position? The arc of influence would depend upon other factors such as the size of the star, its distance from Earth (which varies from 30 light years to 800 light years), and possibly other things that I am not aware of. Since the constellations form the signs, therefore, the arc of influence of twelve signs would be different too. It could vary from 10-12 degrees to 40-45 degrees. Do you, or someone, have Siddhanta Siromani or any other text that has this information. Thanks and Regards Bharat On 9/1/07, jjnet2000_in <jjnet2000_in wrote: > > > Om Datta Guru > > Dear Friends, > > The question & observations that arise are > > a) Did P.S.Sastri who was a known Sanskrit scholar correctly > interpret Siddhanta Siromani > > b) Bhaskara quotes Sage Vasistha & he precedes Parasara if I > understand it well. > > c) Siddhanta Siromani as quoted by Sastri clearly states that this > needs to be used for marriages, pilgrimages , travel etc, it does not > talk of other areas then does it mean that it conforms to our normal > practice of how we use the nak zodiac, it appears so thereby it does > not disturb our original approach one might add. > > d) If the planets can have different diameters & lengths, could the > constellations not be of different length. > > e) First let us agree if constellations have different lengths, then > the question of how to use it in phalit jyotish, here I notice most do > not know if such a thing is possible or if someone has written about it > & the usual Talibanism of Indian Jyotishis creep in. Guest guest
Namaste Sunil If you remember " Lilavati " , the arithmetic treatise, is the first part of Siddhanta Siromani. The Mula Sanskrit version is available, checking for its translated version. Shall let you know.
