Rahu is preferable in Mercury's nakshatra if Mercury is a functional benefic. If it is a malefic or an Avayogi, then Rahu shall turn even more malefic for a said chart. If Mercury is in Rahu's nakshatra and let's say Rahu is in Pisces. Then, Mercury will lose strength through Rahu. If Rahu is in Virgo, Mercury shall gain strength and so on and so forth. So a lot of combinations shall be considered before stating which is better. On the face of it Rahu in Mercury's nakshatra looks better. 2. There are two houses governed by Mercury - one is Air and one is Earth. In Gemini, Rahu gives great many opportunities. It places a person at the right place at the right time. It brings inventiveness and quick thinking. Depending upon which house Gemini takes, it can give additional results or modified ones. In Virgo, Rahu's actions are different and harm the structure of the body. The bones as denoted by Virgo the sign and Virgo the house can suffer. A person's sinuses may have blockages (if other combinations abound). So on and so forth. Considering Aquarius as Rahu's house (as you seem to suggest that from Jaimini principles) - Mercury's Gemini significations shall flourish whereas Virgo significations shall suffer, but, nakshatra linkages can totally alter the results. First you have to check in the chart, lts of Nodes.what does Rahu represent, and next you must check what does ketu represent. There are nuances involved in checking the results for the Nodes. I check the results of the Nodes- Rahu/Ketu in following way normally, (SACR -Star of Node, Aspects to Node, Conjunction with Node and Raashi or Sign in which Node placed). Details- Rahu in which Cusp. (Results of this placement) Constellation Lord of Rahu placed where (Results) and Lord of which Cusps . (Results) Aspect to Rahu (Not from Rahu, but to Rahu) Planet aspecting placed in which cusp (results) and Lord of which Cusps . (Results). and its constellational results. Planet in conjunction with Rahu (I only prefer 4 degrees Conjunction). Lord of which houses , and of course its constellational results again. Finally Sign in which Node is placed. The Lord of the sign, its Lordship over which other house, and of course its constellational effects. The proper mix of above can only give the results of the Nodes . By the way Your navamsha cannot possibly shift anywhere other than Aquarius,unless you considerably shift your Birth time to 7 minutes earlier or 8 minutes ahead, (For Birth ascendant 13.20degrees to 16.40 degrees the Navamsha sign would be the same and 1 degree is equal to 4 minutes)which I dont think can be a mistake in the recording. The difference of 6 minutes between Your Asc. degrees and mines, is because of the Ayanamsha I use. Yours must be Lahiris and mines is KP. Even yours is right. The difference is negligible for all practical purposes in Traditional astrology. There is nothing like best Softwares in Astrology. Ultimately one has to do certain calculations manually to check some data, at least for me, since I know little of mathematical astrology. Just use 2 Good Softwares, and check simultaneously. I was using one of the best considered softwares Kismat 2002 , and my own Chart for Rahu, the degrees were different then what they should have been. Normally no one would have realised it. But Because I also see the Star Lord,Sub Lord and Sub-SubLord,of any planet, I could make out the difference, and the whole results of my Rahu dasha would change just because the Sub-Sub Lord changes.When I noticed the dismal state of results in the previous cast chart wrongly by this Software, I immediately checked the rapheals Ephemeris, and rectifiied the same. And no one ]would have noticed that mistake, unless one goes to that level (SubSub Lord), which only I would have gone, since it is my own Horoscope. And you would be shocked to know how can a single Sub Sub Lord change, change the results of the Mahadasha Lord. But this is very much advanced type of Constellational astrology and we will talk on some other day about it. Not a single person from the KP, or advanced KP Forums could predict the Rahu Mahadasha results for me,forget the traditional astrologers who are still grappling between the exaltation and debilitation signs of the Nodes. Ketu analysis Ketu in 12th in constellation of Rahu in 6th SubLord Jupiter Jupiter in 11th Lord of 2nd and 11th Ketu in Aquarius-Lord Saturn Saturn in 11th Lord of 1 and 12. In constellation of Sun- 3 and 7 aspected by Mars Mars - 5,3,10 in Constellation of Saturn 11,1,12 The above is the Data for both the Nodes. Now the predictive part for Rahu. Notice that Rahu is in 6th. Therefore the 6th house is the source for Rahu to give results through. 6th means Service, returns from service/job/Profession. 6th means also ill health. 6th means also bad relations with partner (Wedded partner or business both) 6th means money recieved from sundry debtors, from employers, from Brokerage commission or through customers to whom material sold. The above was the source. Now what results do we get from this source ? That is seen through the constellation Lord. Here the constellation Lord is Ketu. What does ketu signify ?
