Hello Sreenadh, Chadrashekharji

I wanted to know your take on Karaka yogas. I beleive

they are yogas when planets are in kendra postision

from each other. Explanation as to how to use them

will be helpful

Currantly I have zero (0) knowledge on the same. :)

I will respond after others have a start on the same. Mean while let

Dear Satish ji,

There are some fundamental questions to be answered about before

going to the detailed discussion about the application of Chara Karaka

concept.

1) Whether it is applicable to only Relatives or to everything the

zodiac (Signs and Houses) can signify?

2) If it is applicable to everything thing, then how the Chara Karas

(Planets) are related to the zodiac (Signs and Houses)?

There could be two possible strategies -

a) Assigning a Chara Karaka (Significator) to every house (from 1

to 12): But the problem is there is only 7, 8 or 9 planets only.

b) Assigning Chara Karakas to 2 houses each considering the

corresponding Drishyardha-Adirshardha combinations. Starting from

Lagna to 7th the 7 planets and the 12 houses can fit into this

strategy in the best way.

Now let us have a look back at the Chara Karaka assignment-

Atmakaraka : Lagna

Dhana Karaka : 2nd and 12th

Bhratru Karaka : 3rd and 11th

.......

.......

Kalatra Karaka : 7th

Was it the original strategy, which later got corrupted due to

interpolated slokas? Or is there any other approach to systematically

understand the same?

There are several questions to be answered? Hope that Pradeep ji and

Chandrashekhar ji will have a look into this issue.

Love,

Sreenadh

Sreenadhji,

I don't think the karaka yogas had reference to chara

karakas. It appeared that they are yogas of planets in

kendra position from each other. It is in

jatakabharanam.

Dear Satish,

I think you are talking about Paraspara karakas. This happens when the

planets occupy their house of exaltation or own house in kendra from

each other and then they are called as Paraspara karakas according the

classics. These planet tend to help each other in delivering each

other's results ( in the respective dashas and transits). Even planet

that occupy rasis other than those indicated, if in Kendra from each

other, act as Paraspara karakas.

Take care,

Chandrashekhar.

Dear Chandrashekhar,

You said: Even planet

that occupy rasis other than those indicated, if in Kendra from each

other, act as Paraspara karakas.

Would you please comment on this? What's the significance/effects of P.K? Is

it favourable for the said planet?

Does any planet in kendra to another act as P.K?

Regards,

Anna

Dear Anna,

In my opinion, the planets that are in mutual Kendras from each other,

in what ever rasis, tend to help each other deliver their respective

results. This is more so when the combination of Transit and dashas are

to be used to time events. An example would be say Saturn and Jupiter

squaring each other would indicate that when either of these have their

dasha operating and should either of them be squaring their own natal

position in transit, results of both the placements will be likely to

come through. Whether the results will be favorable or not would depend

on whether the planet whose dasha is operating is functional benefic or

malefic.

I hope, I have been able to explain the concept, as it is difficult to

explain in written word.

Take care,

Chandrashekhar.

Chadrashekharji,

I am not sure I understand. The confusion is due to

mixing of transit and dasha. Lets say jupiter and

saturn are squaring each other in the natal chart. By

squaring I mean 4-10 position. 1-7 is also kendra

position from each other but not a square. Lets focus

on 4-10. So do you mean guru can deliver results of

shani and vice versa in their respective dashas?

Or does transit position has to be in square as well ?

Thanks

Satish

Dear Satish,

I do not think there is any difference in Kendra or square. But

continuing with your example, Guru in its Mahadasha/ Antar/Pratyantar

etc., can also help Saturn deliver its (Saturn's ) results (arising on

account of its occupation of the 4th/10th bhava), if it (Guru) also

happens to square the natal or transit Saturn, in transit at that time.

Chandrashekhar.

Dear Anna,

I am sorry if my post did not reach you. I do not know, why but I find

that sometimes the mails either do not reach the recipient or reach

late. I am glad that you thought my explanation is useful to understand

the concept.

Take care,

Chandrashekhar.
