Guest guest
Dear All, As is common knowledge by now, there are a lot of jyotisha interpolations in some of the Puranas and itihasas. The confusion becomes worst confounded when some scholars try to determine the “timings” of those “planetary combinations” in the Mbh. or the Valmiki Ramayana etc. with the aid of planetary data by JPL/NASA with software like Planetarium etc. No wonder, we arrive at the dates of Incarnation of Bhagwan Ram as varied as 157 BCE to 9000 BCE! While pondering on all such anachronisms, I felt that it could be that the planetary combinations in the Valmiki Ramayana etc. could have been “incorporated” at a later date with the help of the “astronomical software” prevailing then. And it could be probably none other than the “world famous” Surya Sidhanta of Maya the mlechha---most probably of the Pancha-Sidhantika instead of the current Surya Sidhanta! I am, as such, preparing a software to determine planetary longitudes as per the Surya Sidhanta and then comparing them with the longitudes determined through JPL/NASA algorithms. I am already in possession of the original works with different translations and commentaries in English, Hindi and Sanskrit etc. and would request all the members to guide me to any site or forum etc. where I could get some help in preparing such a software. Once ready, that software will, of course, be distributed free of cost later, as usual, for further research. With regards, Avtar Krishen Kaul
