Guest guest
Dear Sir, I am really amused to receive your letter regarding “Vedic astrology”—the greatest fraud on the Vedas! On reading your lines “I have already answered to that speach ( Vedic astrology is Fraud) . And it was published in group” I just saw your “reply” in that forum on top of my “speech” which has thus been relegated to the background! In fact, I became a member of KrishnaBhagvan forum only on August 1, 2008, which means my mail had been posted there even before that as it was posted o July 30, 2008! The proper course would have been to have either posted my mail separately and then answered the questions raised in a separate mail. I wonder how the Moderator of that forum has allowed your such a reply! In any case, your reply is quite a childish one, to say the least! You have not answered even a single question that I have raised in my mail, the most important ones being as to (1) how the Hindu community can be justified in calling predictive gimmicks as Vedic astrology when there is no mention of Mesha, Vrisha etc. rashis nor the much dreaded planets Mangal and Shani etc. in any of the Vedas or the Vdanga Jyotisha etc., in fact e o not find them in any of the Indigenous astronomical works prior to the Surya Sidhanta of Maya the mlechha! (2) The next question is, which you as a member of KrishnaBhagvan forum must answer honestly: “If Bhagvan Krishna has advised us in no uncertain terms ‘karmanyeva adhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachanai’ how and why on earth do you want us to go against those injunctions and be fatalists”? (3) Can you point out even one shloka whether from Shrimad Bhagavata, which is said to be the fifth Veda, or Vishnu Purana etc. etc.---leave alone the Vedas--- which has asked us to consult some soothsayer before embarking on any plan? (4) Last but not the least important question ---in fact the most important question!---is as to how on earth could Varahamihira and Prithyuyashas and Rma Dayalu and Mantreshwara etc. etc. have made any correct predictions since the panchangas from which they prepared their charts were based on monstrously wrong sidhantas---which had fundamentally wrong arguments---whether it was the Surya Sidhanta or Arya Sidhanta or Aryabhatti or Brahma-Sphuta or Sidhanta Shiromani or Grahalaghava or Makaranda etc. etc.! It appears you are still unaware of the fact that till the advent of modern astronomy about a hundred years back at the most via the overseas observatories of Greenwich and the USA etc., Indian jyotishis were woefully incompetent, ignorant and illiterate regarding the real planetary astronomy---and most of them are so even today! 5. If you or someone else has been able to make some correct predictions, obviously, it is all because of the incorrect data---and that is why I repeat time and again, “Vedic astrologers can make correct predictions only from incorrect data”---as the so called nirayana rashis, whether Lahiri or Ramana or Arya-Sidhanta or any other set of rashis---are astronomically non-existent! 6. You are talking a lot about “Ashtamangala”. It is not a recognized form of predictive astrology in any of the astrology works---whether the so called Brihat Parashari or Brihat jatakam or Mansagari or even Prashna Tantra etc.! As such, I have no comments for such an unrecognized system! However, before closing this post, I must put on record, rather reiterate that because of predictive gimmicks which are called “Vedic astrology” we are celebrating all our festivals on wrong days---for example, the most important festival for Bhagwan Krishna’s bhaktas viz. Janmashtami was actually on July 25, 2008, as per all the shastras including Shrimad Bhagavata and the Harivamsha etc. but all the “Bhaktas” will celebrate it only on August 24, 2008, because “almighty” Lahiri and Lahiriwalas are advising them to do so! These “Bhaktas” are so ignorant of even ABC of geography that they are blissfully unaware that Varsha Ritu itself will end on August 22, which means according to these bhaktas, Bhagwan Krishna was born after the end of Varsha Ritu and not in Varsha Ritu! It appears these “jyotishi bhaktas” do not have even “50% bookish accuracy” in their knowledge of the phenomenon of seasons! Regards, Avtar Krishen Kaul Krishna daya [krishnadaya] Sunday, August 03, 2008 11:39 AM jyotirved Fwd: Vedic Astrology is True .. Dear Sir , I have already answered to that speach ( Vedic astrology is Fraud) . And it was published in group . I am resending it for your reference . As a person born and brought up in Kerala where the Vedic temples are functioning according to the strict codes and standards put in place by Adi Shankaracharya , let me state the following : Vedic astrology is not a mundane " science " , but a " Spiritual Ritual " . It is the means to find out the Deity's will in a temple . Only an ardent " Sadhak " ( spiritual practitioner) who is an " Upasak " of " Navagrahas " and an " Ishta-deva " could predict correctly . Also the person seeking his service must be a devotee having the blessings of an " Ishta-deva " . I hail from a place that is famous for ancient Temples established by great Rishis like " Kanva-Maharshi " . There are many " Vedic Jyothishis " in my area who are famous for their predictions . Both my Father and myself are involved with the Temples and the related rituals . We can confirm from our personal experience, the Authenticity of Vedic Astrology when it is done in Bhakti . The bookish Jyothishis may have only 50% accuracy . But , please don't genealize this divine ritual . I am very disappointed that you are helping to tarnish the image of this divine ritual . This anti-jyothish blasphemy is known in our place as to be equal to " Brahmahatya " . Thanks for you patience . Krishnadaya. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Krishna daya <krishnadaya Jul 30, 2008 8:31 AM Vedic Astrology is True .. krishnabahagavan Hare Krishna ! Dear Friends, Just by mundane bookish knowledge , one can not become a " Vedic Astrologer " ( Jyothishi) and make correct predictions . Bhakti is beyond the reach of human logic and It depends on one's faith . Vedic Astrology is also like Bhakti . You have the option to believe it or not . If one does not believe in Vedic astrology, he should ignore it and live according to own " Free will " based on analysis and reasoning . Relevance of Vedic Astrology to the Vedic followers . Bahagavan Krishna says to Uddhava in His parting discourse ( Bhagavatam 11.7.23) : " Although I, the Supreme Lord, can never be captured by ordinary sense perception, those situated in human life may use their intelligence and other faculties of perception to directly search for Me through both apparent and indirectly ascertained symptoms. " A true " Daivajna " ( Vedic Jyothishi ) is the " Sadhak " ( spiritual practitioner) who can convey about Bhagavan's divine will to the devotee who has taken refuge in the Lord . Devotee's Bhakti and Daivajna's " Sadhana " are vital for the accuracy of the revelation . Vedic astrology is not a mundane science . It is spiritual science rooted on scriptural injunctions and pure faith in Bhagavan . Qualifications of a " Daivajna " A person who has attained " Brahmanya " by his " sattvic " karma and sadhana , is qualified to learn Vedic Astrology . He should attain the following eight attributes to become a " Daivajna " : Thorough knowledge in Vedic Astrology , obtained from a Sattvic Guru . Skill in mathematical calculations . Adherence to ethics , austerities and scriptural injunctions . Honesty . Humility . Vedic knowledge. Commitment to " Navagraha-puja " and " Ishta-deva " worship . Any person without all the above attributes is not a " Daivajna " and his predictions are bound to be erratic . Therefore, Jyothish is not like a worldly science (learning which any one can it's exponent) . Daivajna is one who has : learned " Jyothish " from a Jyothish-Guru by fulfilling all related rules and regulations , attained " Mantopadesa " from Guru in an auspicious hour with all " vrithanushtanams " as mentioned in the sastras, attained " Mantra-sidhi " by pleasing " Navagrahas " and " Ishta-deva " ( through Japa, Homa and other specified austerities) , attained working knowledge in the authorized " sastric books " written by Acharyas , and attained practical skills to logically link the divine symptoms and matters to make revelations . Such a " Daivajna's " prediction will never be erratic . For a typical example , please refer to the attached Case History. Misunderstandings and Facts . The general discomfort with Vedic astrology is its fatalistic reputation amongst the spiritually illiterate general masses . Destiny can be changed to a large extent, and that is why Bhagvan gave us the power to discriminate and act our " Free will " . Destiny is what is forecast as the most likely possibility of an event . " Free will " is the ability to exercise ones will to steer ones destiny in a direction which is more favorable or less harmful, compared to -if one chooses to do nothing . For eg : Laws of gravity can be compared to destiny . It is the destiny of a ball thrown in the air to fall down. But it is the " Free will " of man to stop the ball from falling to the ground , by catching it before it falls. Another example : If the weather forecast says there is a 99% chance its going to rain on a particular day, and if we absolutely have to go to work that day, then wearing a rain coat and carrying an umbrella will prevent us from getting soaked, though we may definitely still get a few sprinkles , nevertheless. Choosing to take an umbrella and a rain coat is " Free will " . It prevented the destiny of getting drenched , getting sick and so on. It is here that we see the role of " Jyotisha " as a medium for Bhagavan to guide His Devotee's activities at crucial times . Om Namo Narayanaya !!!! Dear friends. Good evening to everybody! I feel highly honoured to have been invited by Shri Ajay Bhasin for sharing my views about astrology and related topics with respected personalities assembled here. As most of us already know, we call these predictive gimmicks as " Vedic astrology " these days. When I was asked by Shri Bhasin about the heading of my talk, I had thought of making it as " Vedic Astrology - the greatest fraud on the Vedas " . On second thoughts, fearing that it would be too explosive a heading, I made it a sugar coated bitter pill by changing it to " Do we celebrate our festivals on correct days? " . Well, actually, both i.e., the fraud known as " Vedic astrology " and " our celebrating all our festivals on wrong days " are inter-related. Let me start with " Vedic astrology " - as to why I call it a fraud! There is hardly anyone in India, who does not want to know as to when his " sade-sati " will start or end or as to which Dasha-antardasha he is running and when that will end etc. etc. even if he does not know ABC of jyotisha. I have gone through all those pangs myself and made a thorough study of all the astrological works besides a lot of astronomical books! I studied Western system of astrology also and had become a sort of famous astrologer, though my predictions were as correct as anybody else's i.e. hardly 50%. However, this is a secret that no " jyotishi " shares with anybody – that his/her predictions are hardly more correct than fifty per cent, whatever logic or Ayanamsha he/she may use! When I analyzed the reasons for such a dismal rate of success, the conclusions were startling! And I am keeping those very conclusions before you! Before proceeding further, I must, however, say something about myself since you are well within your rights to ask me as to what " qualifications " I have to demolish astrology that is being practised over the last several centuries, nay even millennia! My credentials Though I am not laying any claims to being a scholar, however, I have actually studied all the four Vedas in original " archaic " Sanskrit with their different " Bhashyas " , besides the various Brahmanas like Shatapatha, Aitreya, Tatiriya etc. etc. I have studied, (in original Sanskrit!) about two hundred all the important Upanishads as well! I have also gone through both the epics viz. the Valmiki Ramayana and the Mahabharata --- in Sanskrit and from cover to cover, besides Adhyatma Ramayana, Ramacharitamanasa etc. etc.! There is hardly any Purana whether the Bhagavata, Shivapurana, Vishnu, Narada, Devi, Varaha, Matsya and Vishnudharmotara etc. etc. that I have not gone through in original Sanskrit. I have also studied exhaustively all the ancient astronomical works like the Vedanga Jyotisha, Panchasidhantika, Surya Sidhanta, Arya Bhati, Sidhanta Shiromani etc. etc. To crown it all, I was not a born renegade against the established traditions. On the other hand, I was initially " hypnotized " by " Vedic astrology " and " panchangas " myself and there is hardly any " text-book " of astrology either in Sanskrit or Urdu or English or Hindi that I have not studied with due reverence, as if I was studying the Vedas! Having established my credentials thus, I CAN DECLARE IT WITHOUT ANY HESITATION AND WITH ALL THE EMPHASIS AT MY COMMAND, THAT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PREDICTIVE ASTROLOGY IN ANY OF THE VEDAS, UPANISHADAS OR BRAHMANAS. There are, however, some references to some odd types of predictions in some of the Puranas and the epics and therefore calling it as really a post-Vedic astrology is more correct. There is a rider there also, and that is that according to these scriptures, Makara Sankranti i.e. Pongal is nothing but a synonym of Uttarayana (the shortest day of the year) i.e. Winter Solstice and as everybody knows, it can take place these days only on or around December 21 every year. Thus the Uttarayana-cum-Makar Sankranti that we are celebrating now-a-days on January 14 is absolutely wrong and does not have any authority from any shastra or even modern astronomy. Similarly, the Vaishakhi that is being celebrated on April 14 or so also is wrong since Mesha Sankranti is nothing but Vishuva (Vernal Equinox) or Vasant Sampat and it cannot take place on any day other than March 21/22, when the day and night are equal. Actually these Makara etc. sankrantis were known as Tapah etc. months during the Vedic period as there are no rashis in the Vedas but just six seasons and Madhu, Madhava etc. twelve months. As such, we are celebrating all our fasts, fairs and muhurtas on wrong days -- thanks to " Vedic astrologers " and their " Vedic astrology " . The first and foremost thing I learnt from our shastras is that no system of predictions has any sanction either from the Vedas or even Puranas least of all our dharmashastras etc. since all our shastras admonish us from consulting " nakshatra jeevis " so much so that the Manusmriti calls these nakshatrasoochis as outcastes and not fit to sit in any sabha of learned people. Those who can foresee our future do not reveal it to us beforehand: All the Ramayanas, whether Valmiki or Adhyatma or Ramacharitamanasa etc. etc. say that before deciding about the coronation of Bhagwan Rama, Dashratha wanted his guru Vasishtha to confirm the suitable muhurta for that function. It was on the advice of Vasishtha Muni that Dasharatha decided to anoint Rama as the Yuvraja the very next day, as it was " Tishya " i.e. Pushya nakshata then. From this anecdote, it is clear that either Vasishtha Muni did not know as to what was going to happen to Dasharatha by declaring Bhagwan Rama as a crown-prince or Vasishtha kept quiet deliberately since he did not want to interfere in the divine dispensation! Obviously, being the son of Brahmaji and a highly exalted yogi as well as a jnyani, Vasishtha-muni could peep into past as well as future. It means that even if some exalted souls can foresee as to what is going to happen, they do not reveal our " bhavishya " before hand, unlike some of the astrologers of today, who masquerade as " Parasharas " and " Vamadevas " to tell us even our past and future janmas just by glancing at our birth-charts, even if those charts are wrong! The Gita is said to be the gist of all our shastras. When Arjuna expressed his doubt by saying naitadvidmah katarnno gareeyo, yadva jayema yadi va no jayeyuh " I do not know what is good for me nor do I know whether we will win or the Kauravas will win the war " , Bhagwan Krishna neither asked him to consult some soothsayer nor did He tell him to wear some ruby! He just advised Arjuna " hato va prapsyasi swargam jitva va bokshyase maheem " i.e. " You must fight. If you get killed in the war, you will go to the heavens and if you win it you will be the lord of the whole world " . Thus all it boils down to is the fact that those who know (including Lord Krishna Himself!) as to what is going to happen and when do not divulge such " secrets " before hand to us. Remedial measures are a farce: Almost all the jyotishis suggest one or the other remedial measure to their clients, and mostly these are gems like diamond or ruby or sapphire etc. etc. What is surprising is that we have become so obsessed with Jyotish that we forget the entire itihasa of our past! (i) If these gems are that efficacious, why was then Dasharatha not suggested some " ruby " or " coral " to ward off the evil Dasha that was going to kill him when Rama would leave for the forests? Well, because our Rishis did not believe in such gimmicks at all! (ii) Bhagwan Krishna was born in a prison --- I wonder why He could not use some " sapphire " to be born in a palace! (iii) Vasudeva and Devaki---the parents of Bhagwan Krishna--- were in chains when He was born! It is said that Lord Krishna was a complete – 16 kala sampoorna --- divine incarnation of Vishnu and was thus really Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient! But in spite of His Omniscience, Omnipotence and Omnipresence, Lord Krishna could not relieve the miseries of his parents, Vasudeva and Devaki, who had to remain in chains till Krishna killed Kansa! What does it demonstrate? Just the fact that if the Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent Krishna could not relieve the miseries of His own father or mother before the appointed time, how can a ruby or a sapphire---or some Mangala or Shani yagya--- remove all our miseries or fulfil all our ambitions? Obviously, we are being taken for a ride by such Jyotishis! iv) Then not in the distant past, Smti Indira Gandhi would run after astrologers for knowing her future. She wore a rare and original ekamukhi rudraksha, which only either the Maharaja of Nepal had or she was wearing! It is said that some top-notch jyotishis had suggested that rudraksha to her! Ironically, both the King of Nepal as well Mrs. Indira Gandhi were assassinated " by the people " they " had trusted " ----ekamukhi rudraksha not withstanding! What does it prove? That we should not be hoodwinked by soothsayers! v) Then again a well known Tantrik of yore---highly respected by the then PM--- is out on bail, not by dint of his " Tantra-Kriya " but because of some legal loopholes in FERA! Similarly, Dhirendra Brahmachari, another high profile " Tantrik " , met with an accident in the plane he was flying himself! If he could not see his own death looming large how could he forewarn others! What does that prove? Obviously, it warns us against relying on any soothsayers, especially if they call themselves " Vedic Jyotishis " since they are taking us for a ride literally. Kalasarpa Dosha -- a non-existent fear psychosis: These days we hear a lot about Kalasarpa Dosha! It is said to be present in any horoscope if all the planets are between Rahu and Ketu! My God! What a humbug! Rahu and Ketu are actually nodes of the Moon! That means they are just mathematical points without any dimensions ---therefore without any physical existence whatsoever! So according to " Vedic astrologers " even such " non-existent " phenomena can make our lives miserable for which we must do some upay! Do you need any other proofs for the jugglery that these cheats are indulging in? THE ONLY EFFECTIVE REMEDY, or UPAY, THEREFORE, IS THAT WE MUST REMEMBER HIM, THE ALMIGHTY, EVERY MOMENT OF OUR LIVES AND LEAVE EVERY THING TO HIS DIVINE WILL!. Fake Brighu Samhitas and Parasharis: We find a Brighu Samhita or a nadi Jyotishi or Aruna Samhita etc. in every Muhalla these days! However, there is no mention in any of the Puranas or shastras that any Rishi like Vasishtha or Garga or Brighu etc. have ever written any books on predictive astrology. The Vishnu Purana by Parashara is full of astronomical references ---and that also sayana i.e. the seasonal year when Mesha sankranti is another name of Spring Equinox and so on, but we do not find any mention of any Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra there! Obviously, it is the worst concoction that can ever be had, and may be that is why such a Parashari is the bible of " Vedic astrologers " India has gone downhill because of astrology and astrologers: In India, we have started going downhill ever since our rulers started running after Jyotishis. In ancient days, during the time of the Mahabharata, it was a dharma yudha that we had to fight against our own Duryodhanas but ever since the advent of astrology almost simultaneously with the invasion of Alexander the Great, and then the " Yavana Jatakam " of Sphujidwaja and the Surya Sidhanta of Maya the Yavana (mlechha!), we had to fight outsiders! The more the foreigners invaded us the more our rulers, instead of making a united effort against the invaders, started consulting soothsayers whom they called Rajajyotishis! Varahamihira the worst culprit: The maximum credit for creating such a fear psychosis of omens and ghosts and ghouls and storms and even clouds goes to Varahamihira of 5th century AD through his Brihat Samita and Brihat Jatakam and Panchasidhantika! Before venturing into the battlefield, our monarchs would ask their soothsayers to prepare " narpati jaya charya " and consult Brihat Samhita etc. to see whether the " ketuchara " was favourable at that time or not! No wonder with such a preliminary and hopeless knowledge of astronomical facts, we were being pushed back into dark ages by Varahamihira and his followers! Our historical records are witness to the fact that we were vanquished in every battle, whether it was with Alexander the Great or Muhamud of Gazni or Chengiz Khan or Nadir Shah or the Moguls or finally the East India Company, thanks to the dependence of our monarchs on soothsayers (Rajajyotishis, huh!) instead of the principles of war strategy and statecraft as adumbrated by the Vedas, the Manu and even Chanakya, who chided kings for consulting othsayers! BJP the latest example: The fate of the BJP has not been any better than that of our earlier monarchs by depending more on their " Vedic Jyotishis " who were responsible for getting " Vedic Jyotisha (sic!) " prescribed in Indian Universities! It is that very move that boomeranged on the party and even the " Minister of astrology " did not win his own parliamentary seat from Allahabad, let alone being the Union Minister again. Do you need any other proofs of the fact that these " Vedic Jyotishis " will make you lose your seat of power well before the appointed day just by making you advance your elections? If we continue to follow the trend of our " monarchs " of having blind faith in our soothsayers, then sooner than later we will become Babylon of yesteryears, which is known as Iraq today! Kashmiri Pandits were the worst affected by their blind faith in Jyotishis: Another reason for my revolt against the so called " Vedic astrology " is that as a Kashmiri Pandit, I have more to blame panchanga makers and soothsayers and their predictive gimmicks than anything or anybody else since they never forewarned us about any calamities that were going to befall us! On the other hand, just to prove their astrological gimmicks, they just made ---and are still making --- us celebrate all our festivals, including Mahashivaratri, Vasanti Navratras, Ramanavami, Janmashtami and Sharadiya navratras etc. on wrong days. It is these very jyotishis, whom we had treated as our friends, philosophers and guides, who are responsible for our downfall as Kahsmiri Pandits, since they proved neither our friends, nor philosophers least of all our guides! These Panchanga makers/jyotishis were the first to flee from Kashmir in 1990--- like the king Hari Singh at the time of Pakistani raid in 1948--- since they had already made their alternate homes in safer places like Jammu and Delhi. Those Jyotishis just proved to be Shylocks, who were only interested in their Pound of flesh by way of Dakshinas for janmapatris and matching of horoscopes -- all cheating and nothing else! These soothsayers have such a hypnotic grip on us that initially even I was brain washed to believe that the Vedas had nothing else to do excepting teaching us predictive astrology! I was so convinced that it appeared that even the principle of Secondary Progressions must have been exported from India to Western countries as the principle of " A day equals a year " was mentioned in our Vedas! But thank God, I woke up to the situation and could see through their tricks. There are no Mesha, Vrisha etc. Rashis in the Vedas: Leave alone predictive gimmicks, actually there are neither rashis like Mesha, Vrisha etc. nor planets like Mangal, Shani etc. in the Vedas, Upanishads, Brahmanas etc. Similarly, the Vedanga Jyotisha, the first indigenous astronomical work of 14th century BCE, just tells us only as to how to calculate tithi, nakshatra and Uttarayana-cum-Tapah-cum Magha etc. months. It does not list any Mesha etc. rashis nor any planets like Mangal, Budha etc. Same is the case with Yajur Jyotisha of about 11th century BCE and later Atharva Jyotisha of about 5th century BCE, which does not have any Rashis though it talks of planets. As such, it is really a fraud on the Vedas being played by some charlatans to call any predictive gimmicks as Vedic astrology and hail themselves as " Vedic Jyotishis " . It is a crime under " The Consumer Protection Act " as it is a misrepresentation of facts to a client and is thus a deficiency in service. Our predictions in the past also could never have been correct: It is said that over the past about 2000 years, our ancestors like Varahamihira or his son Prithuyashas etc., could make marvellously correct predictions. THAT IS NOTHING BUT HOGWASH! Let us see how: prior to the advent of scientific astronomy into India, i.e. about a couple of centuries back, panchangas were based on astronomical works like the Surya Sidhanta or Aryabhati or Sidhanta Shirmoani etc. etc. I have prepared a software called " Mahesh " . It calculates, apart from the actual tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karna etc., the mean longitudes of all the planets from 10000 BCE to 12030 AD i.e. for more than 22,000 years as per the Surya Sidhanta, Aryabhati or Sidhanta Shiromani etc. besides comparing them with the longitudes as per modern astronomy. Anybody can download it freely from my discussion forum HinduCalendar Unfortunately for these jyotishis, we find that the very fundamental arguments of these sidahntas like the Surya Sidhanta, the Aryabhati, the Sidhanta Shiromani etc. etc. are absolutely wrong! . That naturally means that any panchanga based on them would also be wrong, with the result that any horoscope prepared on the basis of those panchangas could never be correct. Thus it is impossible for any astrological predictions to have been correct in the past! As such, it is all like the famous couplet of Ghalib " yoon to hai hamko janat ki haqeeqat maloom lekin; dil ke bahlane ko Ghalib yeh khayal achha hai " Astrology cannot be a science Predictive astrology is supposed to be a " science " ! What a preposterous statement! When the data on which predictions were based or are based these days are not correct, how can the results be correct and how can we call it a science at all? Stars do not affect us: It is said that stars affect us! It appears either these astrologers have gone honkers themselves or they suppose that the whole world has really gone mad! Let us see how: I am a puny human being on this small planet called earth. The sun is hundreds of thousands of times larger than the earth! And there are other stars of our nakshatra/rashichakra that are supposed to affect me individually as per the Dasha-Bhukti that is running in my horoscope! However, this fantastic statement has no leg to stand upon since the nearest star of that Rashichakra is Shravana! And do you know its distance from me? It is seventeen light years! And it is several times larger than our sun! In other words, if that star wants i.e. Shravana wants to " affect " me individually, it will take it at least seventeen years to do so even if that " effect " travels at the speed of light! And by then, my Rahu or Shani or whatever Dasha it may be must have been over! Then how can such a star which is trillions of times larger than me send its rays in a concentrated form just to haunt me at a particular point of time! Can you imagine what type of laughing stocks we are making of ourselves by believing in such hocus pocus! Similarly, the next nearest star of our Rashichakra is Swati ! It is away by 26 light years from me and is again several times larger than our sun!! It thus defies imagination as to how we can call astrology a science or how it can be said that the " Stars affect us " . Patri Melapak (Horoscope Matching) is not warranted by shastras nor astrology books: Now coming to the fad called Patri Melapak i.e. horoscope matching! This fad is the rage of the day! You will be surprised to know that none of our shastras, whether the Manusmriti or the Ramayana or the Mahabharata, leave alone the Vedas, have anything to do with Patri Melapak even by mistake! We do not find any instances that any Vedic Rishi was addicted to such a fad, since may be then most of them would still have been looking for a " suitable Patri " for melapak! Not to speak of Dharma shastras, there is no mention of this type of a malady in any of the astrology books like the so called Parashari, or Mansagari or Phala Deepika or Jataka Parijata or any other work! It appears to be a creation of the jyotishis of over the last one hundred years or so. Aleberuni, who visited India in 1030 AD and recorded quite faithfully all his experiences about Jyotisha and other things in India also has not mentioned anything of any " Melapak " in his work! " All India Calendar Reform Committee " : Summing up, as we have just seen, not only are we subjected to non-existent fear psychosis like Kalasarpa Dosha and Patri Melapak etc. but we are compelled to celebrate all our festivals on worng days. There are quite a few people who agree with my point of view that these days we are celebrating Pitra Amavasya on the day of Dipavali and marriages during Pitra-Paksha! Similarly, we never celebrate Makar Sankranti on correct days i.e. December 21/22 but we celebrate it on January 14. We also celebrate Vaishakhi on April 14 instead of the day of Spring Equinox i.e., March 21 or so. This has been all because of the so called " Vedic astrology " To put our festivals back on the right track, I made quite a few representations to the Hon'ble President of India, the Prime Minister of India, various ministries besides the Positional Astronomy Centre at Calcutta, who publish our Rashtriya Panchanga. I also made similar representations to all the reverred Shankaracharyas of all the six peethas, besides other saints and Mahatmas, but sorry to say, there has been absolutely no response from any quarter! We have now formed an " All India Calendar Reform Committee " and are enrolling members for the same. As an alternative, you can get in touch with me whenever you want to for any further clarifications. Thank you very much for listening to this " exhortation " against " Vedic astrology " and the efforts I am making to streamline our calendars. Please read it carefully , without any prejudice . > Many thanks for your sending me again details regarding “Ashtamangala Prashna” which I am reproducing below after the contents of your letter. I still fail to understand as to how this “Ashtamangala Prshna” can be clubbed with “Vedic astrology” even if it is being “practiced” at some ancient temple in India! You have talked of Bhagwan Shankaracharya in your mail, but have not quoted even a single line from any of his works where he has asked us to go by “Asthamangala Prashna” or any other predictive gimmick, for that matter! To the best of my knowledge, it his only his “modern shishyas” who want us to believe blindly in such hocus pocus! Besides, you have not answered any of the questions raised by me about the authenticity of the so called “Vedic astrology”. You can take it that these very questions are being repeated since I am sending my earlier mail again herewith. The most important question that you are avoiding to answer is: Till about a hundred years back, i.e., the advent of modern astronomy into India, all the Hindu Panchangas, on which all the Hindu festivals and muhurtas and horoscopy and patri melapak (horoscope matching) etc. etc. were based, whether in South or North or East or West, were prepared from one or the other sidhanta like the Surya Sidhanta or Arya Sidhanta or Sidhanta Shiromani etc. or one or the other karma-grantha like Grahalaghava or Makaranda etc. etc. And we know now without any doubt that all those sidhantas and karn-granthas are fundamentally and monstrously wrong about the planetary data! So how on earth could the panchangas prepared from such erroneous sidhantas and karma-granthas be correct and how under the sun could the predictions and muhurtas and patri-melapak etc. based on those panchangas be correct? That means all the Indian/Hindu astrology, which you would like to call “Vedic astrology” was actually astrology by charlatans of charlatans and for charlatans since it is only charlatans who can claim correct predictions from incorrect data! If you have any doubts, you can see the “Notable Horoscopes” by the “greatest Vedic astrologer of the twentieth century”---since he also has/had made “correct predictions” from all those hundred and odd horoscopes of that book which are fundamentally incorrect in every way! Does it mean by implication that any gimmicks by charlatans can be called Vedic astrology and the more correct predictions one makes from incorrect data, the “more efficient” ---“greater” astrologer he/she is? You must also be aware that the so called nirayana rashichakra, whether Lahiri or Raman or Fagan etc. etc. is an astronomical joke! And so is a so called Sayana Rashichakra! And that is why we do not find any mention of any Mesha etc. Rashis in any of the Vedas since our real Rishis never made such clumsy jokes! And still you would like to go on calling predictive gimmicks as “Vedic astrology” and continue to celebrate the “janmatithi” of your beloved Bhagwan Krishna on wrong days---on August 24 instead of July 25! But then that certainly is your sweet will and prerogative! After all, we are living in a democracy! The tail piece is that ironically, none of your “Ashtamangala Pashnas”---which are being performed almost every year over the last several years---either has not told you till date that you are celebrating all your festivals and muhurtas on wrong days, thanks to your “Vedic astrology”! With regards, A K Kaul Krishna daya [krishnadaya] Sunday, August 03, 2008 8:44 PM jyotirved Re: Vedic Astrology is True ..NO, IT IS A FRAUD OF THE HIGHEST ORDER! Dear Sir , Please learn about the basics of , " Ashtamangala Prasna " from a Vedic Guru . Then you will understand , how the Deity's will is revealed . " Ashtamangala Prasna " is founded on " Agamas " and the related temple regulations established by Adi Shankara in Kerala . It is being successfully implemented in temples like Guruvayoor . I am attaching the report copy of the recent " Ashtamangala Prasna " held at Guruvayoor temple in November 2007. Please read it carefully , without any prejudice . Om Namo Narayanaya !!!! Krishnadaya. Krishna, Guruvayoorappa ! , Dear Bhakthas , The Eight day long Guruvayoor " Ashtmangala Devaprasnam " was successfully completed yesterday ( 07 Nov. ) . What was performed yesterday was verifying Guruvayoorappan's will on the proposed remedial measures . As solution to each of the discovered shortcomings , an offering was proposed with a prayer to the concerned Devatha , and verified His/Her acceptance or rejection, through the analysis of " Rasi " . 1. At first , praying Guruvayoorappan , it was proposed to submit at His Sopanam, " Bhadradeepam " in Silver pot with " Suvarnakshatha " inside it , Palpayasam worth Rs.1001, " Thrikkaivenna " , " Thrumudimala " , Milk, and Sugar . These will be submitted by the Temple's Ooralan , Othikkanmar , Keezh-Shaanthis, and Other traditional Staff . And after submitting it they all will admit their mistakes to Bhagavan , apologize to Him , and prostrate at His feet , seeking Bhagavan's forgiveness . In the " Rasi " , " Vyazham " ( Guru) was found in the 9th house . This auspicious revelation confirmed that , Guruvayoorappan is satisfied with the proposed Offerings and Remedial Measures . 2. In the Mammiyoor Temple , " Rudradhara " & " Pinvilakku " to Siva, " Palpayasam " to Vishnu , and relevant offerings to the other Devathas in Mammiyoor and to the Deities in associated Temples , other nearby Temples, Kannur Idakkad Temple, and Irinjalakkuda Koodal Manikyam Temple , were proposed . It was found to be acceptable to Them . Remedial Measures The following Remedial measures were proposed and found to be acceptable to Bhagavan and the Upadevathas : 1. The Defective Golden Flag Pole shall be replaces with a New one , within next (13) months . 2. In the Devawom Guest house compound , a " Valkannadi " ( Mirror Image) to be consecrated on the " Karimkali Thara " ( Platform for Karimkali Deity) . And yearly Pooja to be offered there after laying Padmam ( lotus) .. 3. On the Ekadasi day , the procession to the East should halt at it's previous end point " Theeyyar Ambalam " , offer salutations there before proceeding to the Parthasarathy Temple for " Irakkiyezhunnallathu " . 4. To eliminate the " Sarpa-Dosham " ( ill-effects caused by Serpents) , a golden Sepent-image , and " Puttum " shall be submitted at " Pambumekkavu Mana " ( Temple-Abode of Serpents) .. 5. Symbolic Offering of Elephant to be performed . 6. To eliminate the ill- effects for the misdeeds of all those associated with the Temple , Devaswom board should conduct every year, " Maha-Sudarshana Homam " ( 96,000 chants) , " Thila-havanam " (1,00,000 chants) , " Sukrutha-Homam " and 12 days long " Ganapthy-Homams " . Also , " Kalkachikichuttu " ( with 108 " Ashtothara shatanamam " ) and " Vilichucholli-prayachittham " will be carried out . As a remedy for various types of Curses , " Murahomam " will be performed every year . Also " Maha-Mrithunjaya Homam " and " Bhagavathy Seva " shall be performed every year . 7. Every year , a " Sukrutha-Homam " shall be performed with 24, 000 chants of Gayathri-Manthra , to increase the " Sukrutha " of Temple . 8. Thanthri , himself shall decide and perform his " Prayachittham " ( atonement) to Bhagavan . 9. Any money offered on the " Thrippadi " ( step to Sreekovil) , belongs to Bhagavan . 10. As an atonement of Go-sapa ( Curse of Cows) it was first proposed to offer a Cow to Bhagavathy . But , it was not found sufficient . So , a golden image of Cow will be offered to Bhagavathy . Note : It was re-confirmed that , Bhagavan does not accept any amendment to the existing " Kshetra-Acharas " . Before , the conclusion of Devaprasnam two Members of the Devaswom Managing Committee raised objections . Mr. M.M.Vasudevan alleged that , some of the findings and remedial measures revealed in the Devaprasnam will pull us to 200 years back just for the sake of Acharas . Prof. T.R. Harry stated that , the Girl-students in his college had asked him whether Churidar could be permitted in side the Temple .. The Lead Jyothishi , Padmanabha Sharma calmly pointed out that , the Dress Codes of Educational institutions are not suitable for Temple . While coming to the Temple for Darshan , all Bhakthas should follow the Dress Code that is prescribed for the Temple . He reiterated that , Guruvayoorappan rejects all sorts of changes to the time-proven " Kshetra-Acharas " . Also , he invited all skeptics to come to the dais to have a debate on the basis of Vedic Injunctions . The above said , two Members ( who are Marxist Nominees in the Director Board) started yelling " Times have progressed . Churidar must be allowed inside the Temple " . This infuriated the Bhakthas present there . They declared in one voice " What matters is Guruvayoorappan's will alone . And not the wishes of Others . We do not need Bhagavan-Haters in Guruvayoor Temple , anymore " . As the situation became vociferous , and the mentioned Atheists were looking for an escape route , Padmanabha Sharma , the Lead Jyothishi pacified the Bhakthas , assuring them that Guruvayoorappan's will shall prevail . Findings ( 31 Oct. -- 06 Nov. ) . Summary Bhagavan is upset over the violation of " Kshethra Acharas " , Desecration of Temple , Immoral activities inside the Temple , etc by God-haters . Possible, Bomb/Fire/Riot might cause mass killing in or outside the Temple . Thanthri is Bhagavan's Representative . What he says is to be accepted by everyone . Golden Flag Pole is defective . Temple- Elephants may pull it down . No entry to Non-Hindus . Only those having full faith in Deity worship and Kshethra-Acharas , shall enter the Temple. No change in the Temple's Dress Code . Churidar is unacceptable . It has already caused violence by Elephants . It's continuation will cause death and destruction to all responsible for it . Upadeva Ganesha's Moorthy and Temple are defective . Renovation , required for His Temple . Bhgagavan's Cows were stolen and killed . Serious Go-Shapa will cause calamities . Guruvayoor Temple should be treated as an important Shrine in the whole Country and any adverse thing happening to the Temple would have its fallout on the entire Nation . Deratiled Findings 1. Bhagavan stressed the need to rectify certain structural defects found in the golden Flag Pole of the Temple . It's foundation is damaged due to the attack of insects . Flag Pole is the abode of Bhagavan's vehicle Garuda . It has been dislocated and tilted . If one measures from it's footing to " veeraknadam " (upper portion) , the dislocation can be found out .. if the defective Flag Pole is not replaced with a new one , the present Flag Pole will be pulled down by Temple Elephants .. 2. Bhagavan wants the Temple to set up Facilities for the study of Sanskrit and Vedas . The Vedas are very important to Guruvayoor Temple . Necessary Facilities should be provided for higher education of Sanskrit . 3. Ordinary Bhaktas should not face any hurdle in worshipping Bhagavan due to restrictions made in the name of VIP visits . At present , such difficulties exist and certain Temple staff are behaving rudely with the Bhkthas . This is absolutely unacceptable . Bhagavan is always pleased by the Bhakthy of Common man . 4. Bhagavan does not want , more than one `Udayasthamana Pooja' in a day . 5. The Building in side the Temple premises can be taller than the Temple .. But it's floor level should be lower than that of Temple . On such floor , any number of storeys can be constructed . This has no relation with the height of Flag Pole . Considering the roads around the Temple as boundary limits, this condition should be adhered to . 6. Materials once used for " Thulabharam " can be used again .. However, the decayed materials should not be used . 7. The water from the " Manikkinar " ( Temple's well ) , can be used for Thulabharam . 8. The future of Bhagavan's presence in Guruvayoor Temple is bright . The present unpleasant issues can be resolved by " Prayrachitham " (Atonement rituals) . These remedial measures must be completed within one year . ( Note - : Some Devotees brought to the Jyothishis' attention , criticisms in the media against the Jyothishis . But the Jyothishis preferred not to discuss it with Bhagavan . They stated " This Devaprasnam is being conducted strictly according to the Scriptural Injunctions and associated Vedic Shaastras . We are ready to answer any doubts on this . In stead of that , if some one wants to arrest us , we are helpless . ) The " Suvarna-Dwajam " ( Golden Flag Pole ) is not vertical and it is in damaged condition . It's present position too is not correct . This may cause Serious Dangers . Thanthri ( Temple-Acharya ) is not issuing necessary instructions on time. He feels that, what he says will upset the concerned Authorities ; especially since , what he told in the past were ignored totally . Bhagavan is furious over this situation . Some Devotees pointed out that , Udayastamana Pooja is performed for a single person only ; And therefore is it necessary to close and open the Sreekovil-Door for it ? .. Bhagavan replied that , Poojas are not for one Person only . More Udayasthamana Poojas and Thanthric rites are for increasing the `Deva çhaithanyam' (aura) . The " Pillaru-Thalappoly " ( Ritualistic Offerings on a plate , by children) , being conducted by the local group , is very satisfying to Bhagavathy ( Upadevi , Durga) . The Turmeric powder being offered to Bhagavathy , has less purity .. Bhagavathy does not need " Kunkuma-archana " . In the Devawom guest house , a " Karimkaalithara " ( platform for `Karimkaali –Deity ' ) is to be provided . A particular person from the " Othikkan " (Traditional Poojari) family, is continuously showing disrespect to the position of Thanthri . Bhagavan is upset over this . If this is not stopped immediately , there will be dire consequences . In the previous Devawom Cow-Shelter " Kaaveedu " , some Cows were killed . In order to avoid it's ill-effects in the new Cow-Shelter , " Kalasa Pooja " and other atonements to be performed for Bhagavathy . Some " KeezhShaantis " ( Assistant Poojaris) are not maintaining the necessary personal purity, required for Poojas . This is repeated many times . This will cause calamities in the " Thidappally " ( Platform in front of Sanctum Sanctorum) itself . Some Temple Staff are not performing their duties properly and are shifting it's blame to others . They are going for other assignments that fetches better income . Also , there is serious infighting among the Staff . Quoting verses from the " Kapilopadesa in Bhagavatham " , Justice Radhakrishna Menon raised doubts about the previous days revelations on rejection of Churidar . The Jyothishis re-confirmed with evidence that, Bhagavan does not like any amendment to the time-proven " Kshetra-Aachaaras " , in such unauthorized ways . Change in Dress Code ( History : On 27th July, Guruvayur Devaswom had relaxed the traditional Temple Dress code to allow Women Devotees to wear Churidar inside the Temple .. Earlier, women could wear only dresses such as sari, set-mundu, half-sari and skirt and blouse to the Temple. Even if women wore kurtas to the shrine, they had to wear a `mundu' over the pyjamas. However , soon after the Marxist led agitations seeking amendment of " Kshetra Aachaaras' ( Temple customs) , the Marxist Devaswom Board President announced his decision to allow Churidar inside the Temple. Later this matter was taken up in the Board meeting wherein the Thantri sated his objection . But, the Board flatly refused to revoke it's public announcement and ordered the Thantri to shut up.) In the wake of Guruvayoorappan's objections to the changes in `Kshetra-Acharas ` , the recent change in Dress code was checked on the fifth day of `Devaprasnam' . During the `Acharyavaranakriya' , when a new cloth was brought , the Board Official instructed to cut it and fetch a small piece out of it . When the cloth was cut , it became ` Gana-vastra' which according to Jyothisha is used for post-death rituals .. Based on this `nimitham' ( divine syndrome) , Jyothishis analysed further to find out Bhagavan's will . And the following was revealed : Devaswam officials had issued a strict instruction to the Thanthri and all concerned to allow Churidar inside the Temple . Thanthri was not allowed to raise his objection . Because of this , he could not seek Bhagavan's permission or conduct the Social Prayer necessary for seeking Bhagavan's consent for the change of ` Aachaara `. Therefore , instead of a natural change , Dewaswam's will was imposed on Thantri and Bhagavan . Next day, onwards Women started entering the Temple wearing Churidar which was unacceptable to Bhagavan . This resulted in the violent behavior of Temple-Elephants , Falling down of ` Thidambu'( Festival Deity) , etc . If this non-obedience is continued, it will be harmful to the Person wearing the Churidar and their families . It could result in premature deaths . Even, it could even harm the human kind as a whole . Guruvayoorappan wants His Bhaktas to wear simple traditional dress inside the Temple .. Dresses like Churidar is `paradesi ` ( foreign) , which is unacceptable to Bhagavan. Devaswom Shelters for Old and Orphan Bhakthas Bhagavan reiterated His desire to accommodate and protect His Old and Orphan Bhakthas in a Shelter which should be constructed by Devaswom . He pointed out that , according to His instructions earlier , daily `Prasada Ooottu `( Feeding of the Bhakthas) was started for 500 Bhakthas . Now it is provided daily for 5000 Bhakthas . Likewise , the Shelter will also be a success . While this was discussed , Bhagavatha Hamsam Malliyoor Shankaran Namboothiri ( Guruvayoorappan's legendary Bhakta) , entered the dais of Devaprasnam . Jyothishis found this as the divine omen of Bhagavan''s presence there and Bhaktavalsala's compassion for His Devotees . In near future, the cloth of a person arriving for Darshan will be caught fire in the Temple .. Also, in the Temple premises , one's wife will be killed by an Elephant or Cow . Devaswom Board must consider `Krishnanaattam' (which is very dear to Bhagavan) , as Sacred . In last two years , during Vijayadasami , the 9 days long `Krishnanaattam' is not conducted by Devaswam Board . Devotees are offering it . Devaswam must conduct this with faith . The " Koothambalam " (Auditorium for Temple Arts) is as important as the Temple . It must be cleaned daily and an Oil lamp to be lit there . The continuing atonement for removing the previous Temple-Acharyas Puliyannoor Family long back , to be performed properly . It is not carried out decently now . The Garland for Sreekovil , to be prepared in the Temple itself . Those working inside the Temple , must use decent Language . Efforts must be made to keep the Temple clean . The Daily Ritual " Olavaayana " ( A Warrier temple-staff writes the Day's Income and Expenses on a Palm Leaf and Reads it out to Bhagavan before the closure of Temple , every night ) , has been stopped . Instead it is issued in writing to Him , as a token gesture . Bhagavan is furious at this Cheating . Right from tonight (03 Nov) , " Olavaayana " must be resumed . The existing " Achaaraas'( Rituals and Practices of the Temple) can not be debated and amended by any ` Acharya-Sabha' ( Assembly of Vedic Acharyas and Experts) . They are to be adhered to as it is . The `Guru-parambara' relationship in the Temple, has been lost . The `Thidambu' ( Festival Moorthy) has fallen down . For that, `prayachitha' atonement was not done properly . Bhagavan is unhappy over the financial burden being imposed on His Bhakthas , by Devaswom Board's frequent increases in the material cost of Offerings . `Prasadam' is being sold in the Shops outside the Temple. There are defects in the Moorthy of Ganapathy , the Upadeva . Waste materials are stockpiled inside His temple . His displeasure will cause irritation to the Temple Elephants . Renovation of His temple needs to be done . The Construction works inside the Temple premises , were carried out without Bhagavan's consent . There are defects in those works . In matters of `Vastu' , the opinions of more than one Expert need to be sought . The relocated positions of Upadevas are not compatible with that of Flag staff . There are reductions in the Poojas . The Temple Pond has become impure . Many deaths have occurred therein already .. It is not maintained as Sacred . Another Temple Pond having the Divine presence, was filled up totally . The sacred Ashoka tree near the Bhagavathy Temple was cut down . It's atonement needs to be done . The Coconuts once offered to Bhagavathy are offered to Her again and again to save cost and time . This is unacceptable to Her . Sastha , the Upadeva is unhappy due to lapses in His rituals . Although , the Temple Administrators and their Masters will try to block the proposed remedial measures , Bhagavan's grace will help to complete it . Guruvayoorappan is unhappy over the lapses in the " Kshethra-Acharas " ( Temple-Customs) . As a result, Bomb/Fire/Riots might cause mass deaths inside or just outside the Temple . `Deva-Chaithanyam' ( aura) is intact on the Deity which is unique . There will be sharp increase in the inflow of Devotees and Temple revenue . Guruvayoor Temple should be treated as an important Shrine in the whole Country and any adverse thing happening to the Temple would have its fallout on the entire Nation . Bhagavan's money is being misused by the concerned Officials . Certain Staff are involving in `Adharmic' ( unrighteous) activities inside Temple premises . Entry on Non-Hindus inside Temple , is unacceptable to Bhagavan . Devotees having firm faith in Deity worship and temple customs are the ones to enter the Temple . The Thanthri ( Acharya of the temple) , is not allowed by the Devaswom Officials to perform his duties properly . Because of this , Bhagavan is unhappy and the Thantri is very sad . Thanthri's Instructions are being ignored by the Administrators . Therefore, he is not giving anymore instructions . Temple Officials are misusing the Temple wealth . Both the previous and present Officials are guilty of sinful activities . Some Staff are entering the Temple after consuming Liquor . There is impurity in the `Nivedaya- items' being offered to Bhagavan . Bhagvan's favorite , Milk and Plantain Nivedyam have been stopped . In the Temple's Gokulam , Bhagavan;'s Cows are not looked after properly .. Theft and even killing of Cows have occurred . `Go-Sapa' (Curse of Cows) exists . Within a few months , one Temple Elephant will die . Please forward this message to as many Bhakthas as possible . Let everyone pray Sree Guruvayoorappan . Om Namo Narayanaya !!! Please protect us , O Guruvayoor Bhagavan !!!! Krishnadaya . On 8/3/08, jyotirved <jyotirved wrote: Dear Sir, I am really amused to receive your letter regarding " Vedic astrology " —the greatest fraud on the Vedas! On reading your lines " I have already answered to that speach ( Vedic astrology is Fraud) . And it was published in group " I just saw your " reply " in that forum on top of my " speech " which has thus been relegated to the background! (2) The next question is, which you as a member of KrishnaBhagvan forum must answer honestly: " If Bhagvan Krishna has advised us in no uncertain terms 'karmanyeva adhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachanai' how and why on earth do you want us to go against those injunctions and be fatalists " ? 5. If you or someone else has been able to make some correct predictions, obviously, it is all because of the incorrect data---and that is why I repeat time and again, " Vedic astrologers can make correct predictions only from incorrect data " ---as the so called nirayana rashis, whether Lahiri or Ramana or Arya-Sidhanta or any other set of rashis---are astronomically non-existent! 6. You are talking a lot about " Ashtamangala " . It is not a recognized form of predictive astrology in any of the astrology works---whether the so called Brihat Parashari or Brihat jatakam or Mansagari or even Prashna Tantra etc.! As such, I have no comments for such an unrecognized system! However, before closing this post, I must put on record, rather reiterate that because of predictive gimmicks which are called " Vedic astrology " we are celebrating all our festivals on wrong days---for example, the most important festival for Bhagwan Krishna's bhaktas viz. Janmashtami was actually on July 25, 2008, as per all the shastras including Shrimad Bhagavata and the Harivamsha etc. but all the " Bhaktas " will celebrate it only on August 24, 2008, because " almighty " Lahiri and Lahiriwalas are advising them to do so! These " Bhaktas " are so ignorant of even ABC of geography that they are blissfully unaware that Varsha Ritu itself will end on August 22, which means according to these bhaktas, Bhagwan Krishna was born after the end of Varsha Ritu and not in Varsha Ritu! It appears these " jyotishi bhaktas " do not have even " 50% bookish accuracy " in their knowledge of the phenomenon of seasons!
