Guest guest
Dear Aqua, [ 1 ] Yes, one should not touch the feet of any one by way of greetings while asleep or lying down. The folk tradition is that only when a person is dead then the feet are touched in lying position. Since we wish well for every one, therefore it is considered as a bad omen to touch feet of any one while either asleep or lying down. [ 2 ] Yes, once again as a tradition the feet of some one younger to you are not touched as a greeting. But this rule doesn't apply for a Pundit, vidwaan or katha vachak etc or even the daughter at the time of kanyadaan. A pundit presiding over religious ceremonies, even if he is younger in age , one has to touch his feet and seek his blessings. Similarly when kanyas { girls below 10 years} are invited for any ceremony or upaya their feet should be touched and blessing sought.
