Ask some Indian friend what sabut urad { whole urad } is. One would be in the split form commonly used as daal; but for the upaya you have to ask for the urad in its whole form and not in the split form. Shell is cover to all part of almond but you can separate with hand very easily. Is it okay or it is better to go and buy urad for Indian store. She has to apply a very small tilak on the lobe which should not spoil the bed-sheets. There is no alternative to this upaya.
