Aries or Mesha is the name of first Rasi in Horoscope chart. Bhava or house or cusp falls in a Rasi/Rasis. The Rasi where Lagna or Ascendant falls is called as First Bhava/House/Cusp. All Rasis are equal in size i.e., 30 degrees each. But Bhavas are not equal in size. Bhava normally falls in two Rasis. In KP Bhava start is considered. So the 1st Bhava may be any Rasi from Aries/Mesha to Pisces/Meena. Good Luck Naidu KP

Dear Sweet FriendLagna and 1st house are synonimous. All houses are counted from Lagna. The figure 8 in your lagna means, the Lagna is SCORPIOI presume you are having the chart in the NORTH STYLE.sweet_friend737 <sweet_friend737 wrote: In any chart the first bhava ( house ) has to be calculated from the lagna or from the aries(mesh) rasi ?
