Sari:

I know nothing about Martha Stewart, but what I've noted among the people I

know personally is that those with sidereal Taurus or Libra (signs ruled by

Venus) rising frequently have strong artistic inclinations. This is one of

the most frequent occurences in the sidereal zodiac I've seen.

So for Fagan-Bradley emphasis we have a Mercury ruled M.C. Can this compare

to a vargottama Sun and Moon in 10th per Jyotish? Mercury is already

emphasized as the ascendant lord, and it's in the same sign as vargottama

Sun and Moon--Moon is especially important since it's in its own sign.

Sari:

Mercury is on the 11th Alcabitius cusp pointing to group activities, and

what Flatley does is group dancing. So, having Mercury ruling not only the

Ascendant but also the Pof, the MC and both of the lights makes the figure

pointing really powerfully to a certain direction. All this energy is

channelled via Mercury in the 11th house - I think this a really

descriptive. Mercury ties all the chart together (+ gives him his wealth).

The question was whether Valens' description of Gemini (Fagan-Bradley) might

fit Michael Flatley. Here (in part) is a quote from Valens:

" Those so born, then, become fond of discourse, those who work with letters

and education, poetic, lovers of music, teachers of the use of the voice,

capable in matters of household management, those who receive trust. They

also become interpreters, those with an aptitude for commerce, critics of

good and bad, prudent, curious, initiates in occult matters. " (The

Anthology, Book 1, Project Hindsight, 1993, p. 11)

Sari:

What Valens means by " those born " is the rising sign, and it's not Gemini

for Flatley but Virgo. Valens writes about Virgo:

" Virgo is the house of Hermes, feminine, winged, human in form, fastidious,

set in the shape of Justice, bicorporeal, barren, pertaining to freedman,

unfruitful, descending, earthy, common, semi-vocal and mute, corporeal,

incomplete, changeable, pertaining to those who practice a handicraft,

dual-natured.

Those who are so born are good, modest, involved with the mysteries, full of

care, those who lead a diverse life, managers of the property of others,

faithful, good at domestic affairs, writers, those who are supported by

speeches and calculations, hypocritical, curious, initiates into occult

matters, those who spend their initial resources but prosper in middle age. "

(Anthology)

Al Biruni's and Abu Mashar's descriptions about Virgo are especially

interesting in the light of the tropical / sidereal debate. Al Biruni

writes:

" Morals & manners: liberal, good manners, truthful, well-informed, pious, a

judge, thougthful, lively, playful, fond of dance and music, a haviz [has

the Qur'an by heart].

Places: divans, women's quarters, musician's houses, thresing floors,

cultivated fields. " (The Book of Instruction in the Elements of the Art of

Astrology)

Abu Mashar says in the Astrological Metaphors

http://www.cieloeterra.it/eng/eng.testi.metafore/eng.metafore.html .

" As for Venus, it humiliates itself in Virgo, but it agrees with this sign

owing to the feminine nature and besides almost everybody knows that Virgo

means dancing, singing harmonies, lyres and other musical instruments and

the search for marriage, all the things which are typical of Venus. "

To a modern tropical ear it sounds that Abu Mashar would rather be talking

about Libra, not Virgo! And so it is indeed that tropical Libra lays

currently on sidereal Virgo. The traits that belonged originally to Virgo

have transferred into modern tropical Libra.

Best, Sari
