Hi Stephen, I believe the Jyotish way of looking at the parents is to tell us something about their lives and social standing. The modern tropical way is to tell us how the parents affected our lives in the personal sense. Also in Hellenistic astrology the lots of the parents and dispositors were said to describe the parents. If the astrology of the parents was clear, astrologers would have solved this problem long ago. We also have planets in the 4th/10th to complicate the matter. Also planets in the 4th or 10th aspect the opposite house. Just another astrological puzzle. In my case with Neptune and Venus in the 10th (equal house), this does describe my mother. She was a homemaker (Venus) whose entire life was built on a very strong spiritual foundation (Neptune). My parents basically had nothing except their small home (Ketu in 4th alone--when you could build an entire pre-fab house for $5000), and my father wasn't successful from the worldly sense as he held a number of non-prestigious jobs throughout his life, not always being employed. They left no inheritance except a few hundred dollars to each of their children, the sum total of what was left in my mother's bank account from her stay in a nursing facility. But I'm very far from reaching a definite conclusion about seeing parents in the birth chart. Therese
Guest guest
In Vedic astrology, and any astrology, I have nothing in my fourth house for Jupiter to aspect, except the house itself. So, it is pretty clear cut for me, and the Northern Indians were correct in their house correlations. As for you, although Neptune doesn't figure in classica Vedic Astrology, Neptune and Venus plays a strong effect on how you make your mark in the world. Since you have Ketu in the fourth, this means you have Rahu in the 10th. I notice you never hesitate to respond to posts, and read them all, unlike me, with my 12th house Rahu. LOL The basic thing I think is that there is the basic house system, but for some, things get modified because of planetary placements. This often brings a whole new light to the situation. For example, my Moon is in the third house. The Moon has to do with the mother, but the third house has to do with siblings. The Hindus say the 11th house is for the eldest sibling, which I am not. In fact, I am the youngest of two children. So, things get screwy when dealing with the human element. liberator_9 ________________________________ Therese Hamilton <eastwest Monday, January 12, 2009 2:18:07 PM Parents At 11:25 AM 1/12/09 -0800, Stepehn wrote: >I am not sure, Sari, My father, of blessed memory, was killed in a car crash a couple of months before my ninth birthday.
