Guest guest
I must say that I like this site very much. I printed out a couple of articles, " A Brief Look at the Sidereal Zodiac " http://www.solunars.net/viewtopic.php?f=2 & t=2 & p=2#p2 , which cointains information about the basic premises of the site (why " signs " versus " constellations " , for example) and a history about Fagan/Bradley ayanamsa; and then " There Really is a Zodiac! Part 1 " http://www.solunars.net/viewtopic.php?f=2 & t=60 that contains a fascinating story of how the Gauquelins finally made some sidereal study and what the results where. I also read Garth Allen's notes about signs http://www.solunars.net/viewtopic.php?f=16 & t=34 , and as a Gemini rising person I can say that at least Gemini was right on IMO. I'll continue to search gems on this site. I don't think that we should hold " leaking theory " too tight. If that worked perfectly, there would never have been any reasons at least for me to get interested in the sidereal zodiac. I personally do believe that elements and modes as well as rulesrships and dignities work sidereally well. Many of the early medieval Arabic astrologers used a sidereal zodiac and they were familiar with elements and modes. Vettius Valens incorporated them and he was apparently a siderealist (because he defined signs according to fixed stars). As late as in the 12th century there was an astrologer in the West, who firmly held the opinion that the tropical zodiac is for astronomical measuring, but the zodiac used for interpretation of horoscopes is sidereal, he was Roger of Hereford. This is how Nicholas Whyte writes about how Roger interpreted signs: " The first few attributes of each sign are taken directly from AM [introductorium in astronomiam Albumasaris abalachi , tr. Hermannus Dalmata (pr. Augsburg, 1489 & Venice, 1506)]. Most are from classical astrology including the elemental attributes (igneus - terreus - aereus - aquaticis) and the cardinal points (orientalis - meridianus - occidentalis - septentrionalis). " You can find the whole article about Roger in http://www.nicholaswhyte.info/roger.htm . Best, Sari
