Therese,

Then can anyone here who can work with AstroDataBank print out a list of

everybody with a Sidereal Sun, Moon, and Asc in each of the " signs " , starting

with Taurus?

Best,

Don

Dave,

With signs I figure if we have a valid list for each sign (that is

possibilities based on planetary symbolism or whatever...), if one or

another of the meanings fits 80 percent of the time, that's good enough.

Edgar Cayce said that in approximately 20 percent of cases the astrology

won't fit the individual because the person has used will power to walk in

his own direction. I'll go with that. I'd say anything above 80 percent is

asking for the moon and the stars. (There's a children's story about a

greedy wife who asked for the Moon, and she ended up with nothing, having

gone beyond what was reasonable and could be freely given.)

So in my book--if we want to use zodiacal signs--the first step is to

compile a list of plausible expressions of that sign, and then hit the

databanks.

I don't agree that we can toss signs altogether--at least not until we have

shown in no uncertain terms that signs don't exist, or at least can't be

used in any practical way.

Dear Al/l/ !

I think a good approach could be to consider the

sidereal signs as as some kind of intermidearies

between the stellar realm and the precession-dependant

tropical signs, half-way between the essential realm

of the unmoveable spirit and the seasonal, more

earthly, human time-reckoning. Between the archaic,

shamanistic, omen-reading, visual-astrology and the

math-based, " hellenistic " , late antique kind of

astrology. Thet's much more complicated historically

than this, but how about a starting point like this ?

Sari:

I happened to find this post and decided to give it a try. I use Lahiri

ayanamsa. If you want to find more information about the persons mentioned, you

have to google.

--\

---

First those, who have the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Taurus:

1. Alexandra, Czarina of Russia. German princess, and last Russian Tzarina of

the twentieth century.

2. Egan Bisxhoff, German ballet dancer and director.

3. David Charvet, French-American actor.

4. Bert Haanstra, Dutch documentary film maker.

5. Tina Lenert, American mime artist.

6. Larry Pines, American astrologer and part-time actor.

7. Jean Tinguely, French artist, a kinetic sculptor and pop artist.

8. Victoria, Queen of England, British royal family, the Queen of England by

the age of 18.

- This is fun - six out of eight are artists! And the remaining two were

queens. How Venusian. Let's go forward.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Gemini:

1. Giacomo Agostini, Italian motorcycle champion of the world.

2. Walter Godefroot, Dutch pro cyclist.

3. Henry Cabot Lodge, American statesman and politician.

4. Ross Perot, American super-achiever, a bantam-sized Texas billionaire in the

industries of computer, aero-space, bio-tech and hi-tech fields.

5. Louise Josephine Weber, French entertainer, a cabaret singer and can-can

dancer.

- Mercury's themes: commerciality, entertainment. According to traditional

Western astrology, Gemini is Rahu's exaltation sign, that's visible too here.

Here we can also see that Gemini is a masculine sign, compared with previous

Taurus.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Cancer:

1. Richard Atcheson, American senior editor of the new " Lear's " magazine.

2. Yves Du Manoir, French rugby player.

3. Stan Freberg, American satirist and comedy writer.

4. Max Heindel, Danish-American occultist who was a Christian disciple and a

Theosophist for three years prior to founding the Rosicrucian Fellowship of the

U.S.

5. Erich Huchel, German physicist and theoretical chemist.

6. Rainer Lemke, German electronic scientist, entrepreneur (founder of a clay

building company), professional astrologer, and data collector.

7. Hand Rosbaud, Austrian conductor whose interpretations of the works of

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart marked an entire generation.

8. Phoebe Snow, American singer and songwriter.

- Here it's not that easy to find a common theme. Writing could be one -

ancient Egyptians saw their godly bookkeeper Toth as a Lunar deity.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Leo:

1. William Bulloch, Scottish scientist who did pioneering work on hemophilia.

2. Gerard d'Aboville, French adventurer, crossed the Pacific in a rowboat.

3. Dawn Fraser, Australian athlete, officially recognized by an international

jury as the world's finest female swimmer of the century.

4. William Friedkin, American film director.

5. Wiley Manuel, American attorney, judge and government appointee, the first

black Supreme Court jurist.

6. Pier Pelicci, Italian physician and scientist.

- Two scientists, one adventurer, one athlete... masculinity, entrerprising

nature, courage...

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant Virgo:

1. Marcello Abbado, Italian musician and composer.

2. Jacqueline Audry, French director who began as a script girl in 1933 before

becoming an assistant director.

3. Mark Francis Dodlich, American pro astrologer, a journal columnist and

metaphysician.

4. Lucien Gaudin, French pro fencer in the foil and rapier division.

5. Max Perkins, American editor who discovered prominent American writers like

F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Wolfe and Ernest Hemingway.

6. David Phillip, American child known as " the Bubble-Boy, " born with a rare

disorder of immune deficiency.

7. Karl Theodor von Piloty, German artist.

8. Jan Sharrock, Australian astrologer.

9. Hans-Hinrich Taeger, German third-generation astrologer regarded as one of

Germany's leading experimental and scientific orientated astrologers.

- Three out of nine are astrologers - Mercury is astrology's traditional

significator. That " bubble-boy " is a funny example of a Virgoan person.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Libra:

1. Kenneth Feld, American business executive and entertainment producer.

2. Claude Lucas, French homicide, a thief and killer.

3. Lewis Mumford, American writer and critic whose diverse interests included

history, religion, sociology, architecture and the fine arts.

4. Bibiana Perez, Italian skier.

5. Don Simpson, American film producer.

- Libra is a cardinal sign, that's especially visible on a sidereal zodiac. How

can a homicide, thief and killer have all the three basic elements of a

horoscope in Libra? - Libra is the exaltation sign of Saturn, the planet of

death and suffering. The Sun = life is in its fall in Libra.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Scorpio:

1. Tod Brown, American ecclesiastic.

2. Hendrik Conscience, Belgian romantic writer, the author of over 100 volumes,

mostly historical novels.

3. Gillian Helfgott, Australian astrologer practicing in Sydney. She met

pianist David Helfgott after his nervous breakdown and helped him make his

gradual way back to the concert stage.

4. Mia Molinari, Italian dancer, a prima ballerina.

5. Maria Parego, Italian puppeteer who does much of her work on TV with a series

of characters.

6. Ville Valo, a Finnish rock musician and leader of HIM, got some international

fame. " When Love and Death Embrace " was one of their first hits.

- There's romanticism which fits well with a Water sign (Venus and the Moon are

Watery planets).

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Sagittarius:

1. Rudolf Bing, Austrian Opera Impresario, General Manager of the Metropolitan

Opera House from 1950-1972.

2. Tom Boardman Jr., British editor, publisher and anthologist.

3. Xavier Cugat, Spanish-American musician, a bandleader called the " Rumba

King " .

4. Marion Davies, American actress, more noted as the mistress of William

Randolph Hearst for 37 yrs.

5. Glenn Davis, American football hero, probably the most outstanding all-around

athlete ever turned out by southern California schools.

6. Philippe de Gaulle, French military and noted family, a Rear-Admiral, the son

of Charles de Gaulle.

7. Leon Delacroix, Belgian politician. A lawyer, he was a member of the Belgian

Catholic Party.

8. Anthony Hopkins, Welch actor.

9. Eva Legallienne, British-American actress, teacher, counselor and director.

10. Jason Lotterhand, American occultist and author.

11. Madeleine Manning, American athlete.

12. Tito Schipa, Italian singer, the leading operatic tenor for 13 years.

13. Maurice White, American musician, a singer, percussionist and sessions

drummer.

- Two persons dealing with opera, two other performing musicians, three actors.

Jupiterian magnificence, enterprising quality, masculinity.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Capricorn:

1. Birch Bayh, American farmer of 340 acres before he became involved in local

politics. In a dramatic announcement, he withdrew from the presidential

nomination in 1971 to be with his terminally ill wife.

2. Allen Brennan, American corporate executive, the Chairman and CEO of Sears,

Roebuck Co.

3. Roberta Flack, American singer; multi-talented musician, composer, arranger,

pianist and singer.

4. Paul Genevay, French pro field and track star.

5. Chris Hammond, American pro baseball pitcher.

6. Pietro Nenni, Italian political leader and journalist, leader of the Italian

socialist party.

7. Silvia Poppovic, Brazilian host of a talk show on TV.

8. Denise Rich, American socialite and diva from her Manhattan to Aspen,

Colorado headquarters.

- Maybe some materialism here. Being a farmer who withdraws from a nomination

to be with his ill wife is something very Saturnian. Capricorn is again a

cardinal sign, that's visible.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Aquarius:

1. Enrico Ferri, Italian government Minister.

2. Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, American child of noted father, Prince Albert of

Monaco, finally acknowledged by him at the end of May 2006, 14 years after the

child's birth.

3. Nagako, Empress of Japan, Japanese royalty, the Dowager Empress of Japan,

wife of Emperor Hirohito.

4. Valentine Naibod, German astrologer, murdered in his home by thieves.

- I cannot say much about these. Valentine Naibod was a mathematician, Naibod

arc is named after him.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Pisces:

1. Henry, Prince of Portugal, Portuguese royalty. He sponsored the first

Portuguese voyages of exploration on the African coast, gathering around himself

a famous school of cartographers, astronomers and seamen in the community of

Sagras. Though he never made any voyages himself, he was a lead figure in the

emergence of Portugal as a sea power and contributed much to the marine skills

of his country.

2. Pope Clement XII, Italian ecclesiastic, elected Roman Catholic pope

7/12/1730.

3. Algernon Swinburne, British poet of the Pre-Raphaelite movement whose

unconventional views and personal life shocked society.

- I cannot say much about these either. Sponsoring sea exploring fits well with

Pisces, of course. Algernon Swinburne's life has similarities with another poet

with great emphasis in Pisces, Charles Baudelaire.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Aries:

1. Robert Cole, American astrologer and author.

2. Marcel Dupre, French musician, an organist and composer. A brilliant

improviser, he played the entire Bach organ works from memory in 1920.

3. Joseph Simon Galliene, German military, a general, a statesman and an author.

4. Henri Desire Landru, French homicide.

- Two of the four charts carry clear Martian themes.

-----

These findings don't seem to support the " leaking theory " much. It rather seems

that tropicalists are simply wrong.

There's a new PhD thesis about astrology, " Signs of the Times " , made in a Danish

university by Kristine Monk. It can be downloaded freely here

http://www.humaniora.sdu.dk/phd/dokumenter/filer/Afhandlinger-93.pdf . I've read

over a half of it so far, it's a *really* interesting document of the current

state of modern tropical astrology. I recommend this to all serious astrologers,

it's well written and quite easy to read.

Bravo, Sari!

Thank you--what an achievement!

I'll go through my ADB and put those names in a special file for research.

From now on I'll keep my eye out for other names and dates and accurate birth

times that fit this criteria and share them, too.

It's easy to see you spent a lot of time on this because you included short bios

and keywords that are important for research. Excellent!

Thanks, Sari. This is interesting stuff.

Can you tell me which ratings were included -- AA only, or A as well?

And which ayanamsha did you use?

I would also like to see the comparable experiment done with the

tropical zodiac. I haven't been following this group closely lately so

apologies if you're already addressed these issues.

Hi Chris,

I used B rating or more, and Lahiri ayanamsa. I can put here the whole study

again, this time adding the ratings.

First those, who have the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Taurus:

1. Alexandra, Czarina of Russia. German princess, and last Russian Tzarina

of the twentieth century. (AA)

2. Egan Bischoff, German ballet dancer and director. (AA)

3. David Charvet, French-American actor. (AA)

5. Tina Lenert, American mime artist. (AA)

6. Larry Pines, American astrologer and part-time actor. (A)

7. Jean Tinguely, French artist, a kinetic sculptor and pop artist. (AA)

8. Victoria, Queen of England, British royal family, the Queen of England by

the age of 18. (AA)

- This is fun - six out of eight are artists! And the remaining two were

queens. How Venusian. Let's go forward.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Gemini:

1. Giacomo Agostini, Italian motorcycle champion of the world. (AA)

2. Walter Godefroot, Dutch pro cyclist. (AA)

the industries of computer, aero-space, bio-tech and hi-tech fields. (AA)

5. Louise Josephine Weber, French entertainer, a cabaret singer and can-can

dancer. (AA)

- Mercury's themes: commerciality, entertainment. According to traditional

Western astrology, Gemini is Rahu's exaltation sign, that's visible too

here. Here we can also see that Gemini is a masculine sign, compared with

previous Taurus.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Cancer:

1. Richard Atcheson, American senior editor of the new " Lear's " magazine.

(A)

3. Stan Freberg, American satirist and comedy writer. (A)

ancient Egyptians saw their godly bookkeeper Toth as a Lunar deity.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Leo:

1. William Bulloch, Scottish scientist who did pioneering work on

hemophilia. (AA)

2. Gerard d'Aboville, French adventurer, crossed the Pacific in a rowboat.

8. Jan Sharrock, Australian astrologer. (A)

9. Hans-Hinrich Taeger, German third-generation astrologer regarded as one

of Germany's leading experimental and scientific orientated astrologers. (A)

1. Kenneth Feld, American business executive and entertainment producer. (A)

2. Claude Lucas, French homicide, a thief and killer. (AA)

3. Lewis Mumford, American writer and critic whose diverse interests

included history, religion, sociology, architecture and the fine arts. (B)

4. Bibiana Perez, Italian skier. (AA)

- Libra is a cardinal sign, that's especially visible on a sidereal zodiac.

How can a homicide, thief and killer have all the three basic elements of a

death and suffering. The Sun = life is in its fall in Libra.

actors. Jupiterian magnificence, enterprising quality, masculinity.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Capricorn:

1. Birch Bayh, American farmer of 340 acres before he became involved in

local politics. In a dramatic announcement, he withdrew from the

8. Denise Rich, American socialite and diva from her Manhattan to Aspen,

Colorado headquarters. (AA)

again a cardinal sign, that's visible.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Aquarius:

1. Enrico Ferri, Italian government Minister. (AA)

the marine skills of his country. (AA)

2. Pope Clement XII, Italian ecclesiastic, elected Roman Catholic pope

7/12/1730. (AA)

3. Algernon Swinburne, British poet of the Pre-Raphaelite movement whose

unconventional views and personal life shocked society. (B)

- I cannot say much about these either. Sponsoring sea exploring fits well

with Pisces, of course. Algernon Swinburne's life has similarities with

another poet with great emphasis in Pisces, Charles Baudelaire.

The Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant in Aries:

1. Robert Cole, American astrologer and author. (A)

2. Marcel Dupre, French musician, an organist and composer. A brilliant

Hi Sari,

I would treat any times will less than AA with some skepticism. Even A

times are merely remembered times and therefore somewhat unreliable in

terms of ascendants.

Anyway, it's not that big a deal since you are not making any

statistical claims here.

Thank you for this listing, Sari!! I had done this a while ago but couldn't

find the printout in my reams of files and papers. I also have the tropical

list from a fellow tropical astrologer, which I'll try to post within a day

or so. I have the list in hard copy, but can easily copy the few names for

each sign.

I think what is most pronounced is that having the Sun, Moon and ascendant

in one sign doesn't reflect much cohesion within signs. In other words (as

the ancients always said), it must be the planets that show similarities

between charts rather than the signs. Taurus so far seems to be one

exception where similarities show up.

I have had more success in finding similarities by taking planets conjoined

to the ascendant or at the zenith in the lunar mansions. There are not

enough charts in ADB for any kind of a statistical study on these

placements, but similarities do show up. For example, a mansion of sidereal

Gemini seems to be associated with politics or sports, part of Leo has an

association with music, and so forth. (I'm not naming the mansions because

I forget which ones they are without checking my files--no time this

morning to do this.)
