Guest guest
Just like stranded mariners adrift at sea with water everywhere and not a drop to drink, I feel much the same about signs. About four months into astrology, many decades ago, I ran into a Cambridge (Harvard Square) bookstore owner who got me hooked on mid-points. Since then I've had little regard for signs. After the mid-70s and finding Fagans work in American Astrology, I again found that signs were not so important. Then I discovered " Planets in Containment " and found that not only signs, but houses and aspects were not always necessary. Now I feel I'm almost impervious to signs. Dave. Guest guest
Dave, A little off-topic about signs per se: I bought " Planets in Containment " also and find its premise and treatment intriguing. Am hoping to examine, and perhaps integrate, the interps into the other work I do. -Derek , " David Monroe " <dadsnook wrote: > > Just like stranded mariners adrift at sea with water everywhere and > not a drop to drink, I feel much the same about signs. > > About four months into astrology, many decades ago, I ran into a > Cambridge (Harvard Square) bookstore owner who got me hooked on > mid-points. It's used all the time. Who's the author of " Planets in Containment " ? Thanks, Therese
Guest guest
Therese: I have the 3rd printing published November 1992. The authors, John Sandbach and Ron Ballard (as Dave said), use a wider definition of containment than is used in Vedic/Jyotish. Any planet is " contained " no matter how widely separated from those before and after it. For example, using the current transits, they would intend to include Mars contained by Uranus and Saturn. That does not mean you *have* to use their book this way, if you don't want to . They do not include the Lunar Nodes, but there are sections interpreting the Ascendant and Midheaven contained by two planets (a useful tool in rectification). They consider the order important also. Mars contained by Uranus before and Saturn after is different from Mars contained by Saturn before and Uranus after. There is a short paragraph giving a full delineation, then shorter summaries of positive and negative manifestations. Whenever possible, I prefer to buy astrology books from Astrology Center of America: http://www.astroamerica.com . " Planets in Containment " is in stock there. -Regards, Derek , Therese Hamilton <eastwest wrote: > <snip> > > Planetary containment is an important concept in Vedic/Jyotish.
