Jon, Compatibility is more precise than just mentioning " signs " , which are 30 degrees apart. The signs can be used as more-or-less a " shorthand " for mentally calculating the aspects. So we need more information. I think all will agree that if your Sun is at 1 Virgo and hers at 1 Leo then the separation-- the aspect--is around 30 degrees or a semi-sextile, which is not bad but some sparks may fly. If your Sun is at 16 Virgo and her Sun is at 1 Leo they that is a semi-square (45deg) and some sparks will fly. If your Sun is at 29 Virgo and hers is at 1 Leo then that is around 60 deg or a Sextile and you're on your way to the altar. So we need more than just " Sun in Virgo " --we need Sun " where " in both signs to give an informed response. Don - Jon Riley Tuesday, November 27, 2007 9:00 PM What happens when Earth and Fire mix? I am Sun in Virgo. I know this girl who is Sun in Leo. She really wants me. What would happen if I were to get with her? What happens when " Earth joins Fire " or " Virgo joins Leo? " I'm a bit curious. Some explanation could be so helpful in my understanding. sincerely, Jon
Guest guest
Jon, Traditionally, all other things being equal, squares (90 degrees) are considered the most stressful aspects, or most inharmonious, or most incompatible. Therefore--again, all other aspects aside--the square (multiples of 90-deg) signs to Virgo are definitely Sagittarius and Gemini, and possibly Pisces. But, again, I caution you not to rely so much on " signs " --because they are 30-deg-wide divisions or segments. In other words, if you are basing important decisions on simply signs you owe it to yourself to be more precise and look at the degrees-in-sign. Please refer to my previous post where I give the example where if you are just looking at " signs " it's possible to classify and confuse a " bad " 90-deg aspect--a square--with " good " 60- (sextile) or " excellent " 120-degree (trine) aspect. I ask you again to give your degree-in-sign information with your questions so we can give a more informed--and accurate--response. But, on the other hand, I know how in real life like at parties in elevators for instance the opener is to ask for or mention sun signs--and not degrees-in-sign--so I guess that's what you're asking here, but I just want you to know that the next step is definitely to get her aside and get into degrees. Astrologically, of course. I guess it goes without saying the first thing anyone does once they begin to get interested in astrology is to study carefully their own natal chart. When and if that clicks the next step is doing and studying family and friends' charts. Then comes the looking at charts of people we didn't get along with for whatever reason (these are the hardest to get because we didn't generally spend that much time around them because of these discordant influences). That's where the squares and sesquiquadrates--135--and quincunxes--150--start popping out, and the latter two are hard to spot by looking at signs, you have to subtract the actual degrees to be sure you're accurate. While I'm on the subject, I'd like to add that while studying astrologically the charts of people--male and female--I didn't get along with and/or terrible things happened I came across the realization by looking at the charts--and initially this was very hard for me to do internally--that they weren't necessarily " bad " people they just looked at the world very differently than I did, that the difference was in viewpoint and not really in the person (read: the soul). This I would have to say was not a little epiphany for me and has helped me greatly. nuff said. but the study of astrology did it and I will be forever grateful.
